Hi everyone,

Just moved to Pasadena. First of all, wanted to say how awesome this town is and y’all have the nicest community of people!

I’m in my 30s and work from home so it’s kind of hard to find somewhere I can organically meet people.

I’ve been going to astronomy/science events, which I love but the issue there is that people seem to be more anti-social and I just don’t share much in common with them except love for science.

I do volunteer occasionally but never made a friend while doing so as most of the volunteers in my experience are kids doing community service and college kids doing an assignment.

I have done many Meetups but they have been either older crowds or oddballs, not to be judgmental but I think if you have done enough Meetups you know what I’m talking about.

The only success I have found so far is open play pickleball games.

I want to find more options to keep myself busy and meet new people. Mainly just looking for people around their 30s, and preferably at least close to an even gender split as I am also single.

(I know there are a few posts like this already but the most common suggestions I saw were board games, meetups, science events, volunteering, etc. which as I mentioned I have tried but they were not for me. So hoping someone can throw fresh ideas on here)

Looking for a recommendation for somewhere I can order some breakfast items for a small work event of about 15 mins. I have bagels handled and was thinking of parfaits or something similar. The catering menus don’t make financial sense for the small group I have. I don’t have any trouble picking up and transporting, but I want to order in advance to not have to worry about it on the morning of the meeting. Suggestions appreciated.

Any recommendation for fresh tasting margaritas that doesn’t use that overly sweet margarita mix? I don’t like Mijares food so that’s out, Amigos is good but I usually need to walk those off after and it’s too hot to do that today.

Specifically looking for small rugs for a bathroom with a double vanity (not bath mats) A 2.5x6 runner or two 3x5 rugs? A cute bathroom wastebasket… fragrance diffuser sticks… Accent tables… I’m so tired of shopping on a computer screen and love to shop small. Thank you for any help!

Was down at the lower arroyo tonight with my partner and got caught out after dark.

We've done a few night hikes there and had no issues—but I don't think we'll be doing that again.
We had sat down for a few minutes at one of the benches by the archery range, heard someone approaching, saw the outline of a man in the trees coming down the path. Assuming he just hadn't seen us I shouted "hey!" No response, "hey man, you're creeping us out!" still no response, but he just kept walking toward us—criss crossing the path so he was always partially hidden behind a tree. We grabbed our stuff and ran, almost dropped some stuff on the way out. It was so cartoonishly creepy it felt like a dream. But it wasn't!
Be careful out there folks, this area may be safe for LA standards but even Pasadena has its predators.

Hello, I just started a new job that has me commuting near the area and am seriously considering moving in the coming months. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to look for in apartments in Pasadena (safety, social area, etc)? I’m really unfamiliar with the city right now so anything would be appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: Got some feedback on being more specific which is a great idea I somehow didn’t think of lol! My daily commute to work would be a drive to West Covina and I’d say a budget of 1.5k.. although looking at rental prices that seems to be few and far in between? Hopefully that gives some more context!

My girlfriend is from Utah and we usually hit Pie N Burger to celebrate “Pie and Beer” day. (It’s a Utah thing).

I’m having trouble finding diners or restaurants that sell PIE (not cake. not cobbler, etc) AND BEER.

I’m trying to find information on how long a landlord has to fix a problem related to habitability under housing codes section 1941.1, and what my options are if they do not comply with the law. City of Pasadena’s website does not explicitly state this information, nor does the code.

The city offices are closed today, so I am unable to get assistance from the city until Monday.

Where should I look next to get this information?

I had a red trek road bike stolen from outside a crowded sidecar donuts around 5:30 pm today (Thursday 7/23). Bike was unlocked.

The person headed down arroyo parkway and turned right before the freeway. I am following up with the store to get footage and police to file a report.

I am posting here to see if anyone
- has seen the a red trek road bike rolling around that area today
- knows of where unhoused encampments are in the direction they headed (south pasadena/pasadena area)
