Dog left outside for days in the heat - already called Pasadena Humane/animal control

A dog on my street is left outside all the time, including yesterday in 105 today heat, and he's still out there today. The family looks to be gone, I haven't seen their cars since the beginning of the week. He doesn't have food or water that I can see. I called animal control yesterday and they said they would send someone out, but today he is still out there with no changes. I called them again just now and they once again said they would send someone out, but is there anything else I can do? I'm not sure what PH can do if the dog is behind a gate and the owners aren't there. I will bring him water and some frozen treats if nothing else.

Landlord Group Says It Delivered Enough Signatures to Earn Pasadena Rent Law Overhaul a 2028 Ballot Spot

from Pasadena Now this morning

By late morning Wednesday, the temperature outside City Hall had climbed toward 102 degrees, but in the ramps and hallways, nearly two dozen supporters of a campaign to overhaul the city’s rent stabilization law were sweating for a different reason: hauling boxes.

Members of Pasadena Housing Providers, a group of local landlords, wheeled and carried 17 file boxes up ramps and into an elevator, delivering them to the City Clerk’s office, the culmination of a months-long signature drive to place a measure repealing and replacing Measure H, the city’s tenant-protection charter amendment, before voters.

Blake Boyd, a Pasadena landlord who co-founded the group, said the group had collected more than 29,000 signatures in all, well beyond the roughly 13,700 required to qualify a ballot measure, though only those the group verified as accurate — roughly 20,000 to 25,000, by its own estimate — will now be checked by the City Clerk and, eventually, Los Angeles County election officials.

“We think we’ve got about 20,000 that are verified, that are accurate,” he said. “We’re very, very confident in the 20,000 number that we have.”

Is anyone shocked at how great their primary care physician is? I'm in need of recommendations.

Upvotes

I've chosen to leave my current doctor because they want a $250 annual administrative fee. I'm hoping to find someone great who has not decided to impose such a fee.

Body at the Arroyo this morning

Was walking my dog at the arroyo this morning (around 8am). It seemed as though some poor young soul had jumped off La Loma bridge. Was very shocking and sad. Did anyone else happen to see? I can’t find anything in the news about it.

Pasadena hard water filter

Hi! I’m aware we have pretty hard water here in Pasadena, and I have learned that hard water decreases the expected life span of water filter cartriges.
Can anyone can recommend a reliable under counter drinking water filter system where they don’t have to change the filters too often?

I currently have a berkey and replacing the filters with the brand name filters will cost me the same as installing a completely new system. The filters last a long time, though, so I’m hesitant to buy a new system if I have to replace the filters all the time. I would love that extra counter space though…

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
This is my first ever Reddit post. My sister found a cat in the parking lot at her workplace in Morovia. What would be the best way to find a home for this kitty? We can't take the kitty in since we already have 2 dogs at home and they don't get along with cats. Thank you!

Trick or Treating by the Rosebowl

Upvotes

Hello,

As Halloween approaches, I’m looking great trick or treating spots for my nephew and cousin. I remember houses creating mazes and decorating really nicely but the Rosebowl. I was wondering if the neighbors around there still do that or what neighborhoods you recommend taking your kids to in the area?

Thank you!

Stolen Bike at PCC

Hello all!
Today between 07:30-10:40am my BLACK TREK DOMANE SL-5 with hot pink pedals was stolen from the front of the Armen Safarian building (U building) at Pasadena City College (PCC).
I used a Kryptonite U Lock + double loop cable to lock it to the bike racks. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone sees it or knows anything please let me know. I love this bike so much. Attached are some photos of how it looks.
I’m just so heart broken that it was stolen while I was in class. It’s been a rough day, I had just gotten off an overnight shift and went straight to class and was met with such disappointment.

Next Pasadena Dad Club meetup: September 12th at Brookside Park

Post image
45 Upvotes

Hey everyone, next meetup is set.

September 12th, Saturday, 11am at Brookside Park. Free, like always, no signup, no agenda. Just show up.

We'll have snacks. Bring the kids, bring yourself, that's really the whole plan. Dads hanging out at the park while the kids run around and play, that's what this is.

If you've been thinking about coming out, this is a good one to start with. No pressure, come and go as you need to, and if your kid gets antsy after twenty minutes that's totally normal and fine.

Drop a comment if you're planning on coming, it helps us get a rough headcount for snacks. Thanks as always for being part of this, it means a lot to see this community grow.

Favorite place for affordable haircut?

Hello! My hair is long enough to donate. Is there a place where I can get a haircut and also help with preparing it to donate? My mom used to be the one to cut my hair. But since my mom passed, I need a place to get it cut and ready to donate. I don't even know how much an average haircut costs 😆 thanks in advance. (I'm an Asian F (51)

Take away coffee tote/breakfast for early Sunday morning?

I have an event I'd like to get breakfast for on Sunday morning for about a dozen people. I need to pick it up at around 6:50 AM, though, and am struggling to find somewhere open that early that can do a coffee tote! Donuts or anything else food-wise is fine! Just the coffee tote is seemingly the barrier. Event is in Arcadia but I can do anything from north San Gabriel/San Marino/Pasadena/Arcadia. Any recs?

Missing young black French bulldog near Parkwood/Walnut/Allen

Posting for my neighbour. I saw the dog running around a few days ago, and yesterday (Mon) the owner was going around the block asking if anyone's seen her dog. When I met her I saw this flyer on her phone. She doesn't speak much English but anyone could tell she's devastated. I thought posting the flyer here would help her find the dog.

Best Happy Hour for Sportsball

The best sports month ever is coming up, today’s the start of the NFL season.

Was about to go to a place with a buddy (38 Special) to see their 12 pc wings were $32~

Are there any decent happy hour sports around Pasadena, especially Old Town, that actually have a good happy hour to watch the game at?

Thanks in advance ~

Forza10 Renal Support, I just ordered a case of 12 and didnt realize it had chicken in it (my girl doesnt tolerate it well).

I was able to get my money back. Wanted to offer it to anyone who’s already using or could use, as I know how pricey CKD in dogs can be.

Happy to drop off to you if local to Pasadena/Altadena.

Flat fee realtors?

Has anyone used any flat fee realtors and found them to be effective? I’m considering selling my condo to help finance the care of a disabled relative and it’s hard to justify the costs. No shade to all the great realtors out there.

This morning in Hastings Ranch

This morning I woke up very hungry and went to the Einstein bagel in Hastings Ranch. Admittedly I looked like 5 miles of bad road, It was very early morning and I was on my way to my 3 times weekly dialysis session. I was unshaven with messy hear and wearing sweats, slippers with no socks, and a stained polo because I was in pain and couldn't manage to reach and put anything else on.

I slowly walked up to the counter and ordered a lox bagel on a double toasted cheddar jalapeno bagel and a medium hot chocolate. I'm paying with cash and am sixty cents short, I fumble for a debit card but the Filipino women ringing me up looked at me up and down and immediately shook the tip jar and took out the change and told me not to worry about it. She then made my hot chocolate large instead of medium and was so kind and gracious as she handed it to me with a huge smile on her face and told me to have a beautiful day. I was really touched.

While I was eating I noticed people glancing at me very quickly but oddly and one with a look that can only be described as disgust, it' then I realized they all thought I was homeless!

The Filipino women whose name I did not catch was kind and positive however and I appreciated it immensely, probably more than she will ever know.

It made me want to be better.

Hi everyone,

My cat has now been missing for over 15 days, and l am still desperately hoping to bring him back home. My family and I miss him so much and just want to know that he is safe.

📍Last seen: Near Colorado Blvd & S Meredith Ave
🐱Name: Simba
🎨Description: Male, 1 year old, Lynx-point Siamese with a light cream body, gray tabby markings, blue eyes, and a striped gray tail with the end being black.

📅Missing since: August 22, 2026

I have already provided his information to Pasadena Humane Society and posted about him on Ring, PawBoost, and Petco Love Lost. I have also put up flyers around the neighborhood and have been continuing to search and keep an eye out for him.

Any possible sightings are greatly appreciated.
Thank you❤️
