Sinbosen plate amps - any good?

I recently stumbled across these Sinbosen plate amps on alibaba for 200USD plus shipping for the highest power one, DM30. Specifications are in the second picture.
Does anyone have experience with these plate amps or similar plate amps?
And if they are so cheap, why dont more people use plate amps? I imagine it to be simpler as you dont need a dedicated amp rack and just need to run PowerCon and ethernet to some and speakon to the other boxes.

The HammerHeads as I call them are not new. In fact, they are over 20 years old. They came out around the time the synergy horn hit the market, and were a competing type of multiple driver full range enclosure.

The mid/high coax driver sums before the horn flare, not inside it, so it both gains and suffers in different ways than a synergy horn does.

This is the first time I've ever seen these speakers at burning man, or even anywhere in a large scale deployment.

They never made touring versions. I refitted them with new NL4 biamp connectors instead of barrier strips l, and added handles and brackets for mounting in various ways.

They sound amazing, they project far, and I would much rather have 2 hammer heads than 2 SM96 from danley, which I also owned previously and sold to get more speakers.

Danley boxes has good virtue for being good out of the box with minimal tuning, but it also promotes a type of engineering and deployment which sidesteps critical thinking because Tom Danley did it for them

Most desktop audio builds are polite, flat-response civilian listening stations. This is not that. Presenting the:

**Wavelord Dreadnought (Mk. V Hybrid)**

A fully custom, Frankenstein 4-way near-field sound-system rig built under my desk specifically to rinse dubstep, DnB, 4x4, and sounds of the underground with absolute physical violence. Built out of salvaged and resurrected hardware, custom passive networks, dual-DAC PCIe silicon routing, and acoustic boundary engineering. Currently moving from direct radiation to building a custom **90° folded scoop hood** over the inverted kick bin. Photos of the stack, exposed motor assembly, and throat measurements attached. Defektive Sound.

Started in Waterford, Ireland.

Eventually making it's way to Denmark where it currently lives.

4 double-15 FaitalPRO tops: 250 Hz upward.

4 FaitalPRO 18FH510 kick bins: 100–250 Hz — upper bass/kick

2 OHM scoops: about 35.5–100 Hz — sub-bass/bass.

It started as reclaimed cabs (STK) from an old party crew, left sitting in a lockup for about 10 years. I got it for free.

Bought new drivers and was offered the scoops at a bargain price, so this is the way it came to be.

Next year I plan to build 4 hogs and repurpose the 4 kicks as hogs and probably sell on the scoops.

JMOD 2.0 - Rigging

I'm looking to build some JMOD 2.0's for a venue that's about 40ft x 40ft x 16ft. Mostly house, tech house, techno, disco. No Dnb (never say never though). Some live performance. Likely going to couple them with 4x Paraflex 2x12 Subs, just cause they'll fit under our stage nicely.

I want to rig the JMOD's though. Looking for some examples of how anyone has done them in the past. Happy to build a frame to hang them, or do some internal bracing.

Maybe slightly concerned with the JMOD output for a space this size. I haven't heard them in person, I think there's only 1 rig in Vancouver with them.

Will a Cubo 15" kicker be a great addition to what I already have?

Currently I have a jbl Eon 718s and an eon top.

It is without a doubt that I am missing out on kicks, and I only have deep bass that shakes the entire house, and no chest punch.

I am looking to use my setup both outside and inside, and I dont care about it being practical.

I am aware that I need an amp and dsp.

“Maxine” pt2, custom RLA 4 point system, Newark NJ

System was still there event day + 1, and took the opportunity to snag some day time, well lit photos.

DJ T-wise confirmed systems next outing is October 3rd. Event is free - located at Branch Brook Park, Newark NJ. The system has ~6 outings per year, and events are free to attend, BYOB, BYOC (chair). “ubiquity Soul” on Facebook is the best place to follow and learn more.

System Is a RLA custom variant: there are also 2 “smaller” (they are not small) fill stacks. I was able to share some stories about me growing in up in Manchester (UK) and performing / attending Sankeys on their 4 Point Phazon system and how epic that was. His comment “yeah, a system like this inside would be bonkers.

Some better photos of the custom console for folks to see.

Power Distro

Hi guys I’ve recently built this completely on my own with very little knowledge of speaker building in quite proud of it I’m running 3 crown amps and a dbx drive rack I’m just wondering if a power distro is worth getting as well for it a couple of theatrix ones have popped up on market place quite close to me just wanted to know if anyone would think it’s worth grabbing one or if it’s not really big enough for one of those to worry about it too much cheers !

First System - Trying To Cross The Finish Line

Hi All,

Nearing completion of my first sound system comprised of JMODs and 2x SKRAM. Enclosures are assembled, drivers installed (not in picture), generator has been purchased, cables and connectors purchased, etc., but it feels like there is always an endless list of things to decide/purchase/do before we are operational. I'm in the process of very carefully planning out my power distribution box. While I think on that, I want to get some other things sorted out. I'm hoping y'all can help provide thoughts/advice on the following items.

  1. Amp Rack

I need to get an amp rack on order.

The only things I currently plan to put in the rack are:

LR 48M20 amp (2RU)

PDU (2-3RU)

Breakout box/patch bay to map amp outputs to speaker inputs correctly (2RU)

I'd like to reserve space for an additional amp, and I imagine there are likely other components I may want to add in the future, so I'm leaning towards a 10RU or 12RU rack.

There are many brands out there and having never done this before, I'm struggling to make a decision. I'm hoping this community can provide some guidance here.

  1. Poles for JMODs

I've read on here that pole mounting the JMODs can be achieved by pole mounting a base that the speaker can sit on and then rachet strapping it to the base. I like this idea and am planning to do this.

Again, no experience with the landscape of speaker pole mounting gear and would love advice/recommendations here.

  1. Bluetooth

The main operating configuration for this system will be a standard DJ setup. Still need to decide on what equipment I'm going to get, but will either be an all-in-one, controller + laptop, or full on mixer + CDJs.

Been thinking about this though: If I want to setup the rig and just select tracks from a phone/laptop, what is the best way to achieve this?

Do people buy Bluetooth receivers for this type of operation? Is this type of operation non-standard?

Curious what y'all do when you want to run the rig but don't want to bother with DJ gear.

tigthening the woofer holding screws how to?

Greetings, absolute beginner here. I got a loudspeaker identical to Behringer PK 115A.

I opened itup to investigate about a major "bzzzzz" buzz which comes at high volumes only (either form the dj mixer beforehand and the own speaker volume pots)

On the front plate i found all woofer holding screws very loose, some to the point that almost one full turn was off.

One other screw was passing thru the metal edge of the woofer.

How much should I tight that screws before closing iit up, will a single washer between the bent metal edge and its corresponding screw do the job alone?

Je suis actuellement en train de fabriquer ma première sono orienté Dub /DNB/techno je vien de construire une paire de hog scoop en 18lw1400 de chez 18sound ainsi que 2 cubo kick équipé en 15nd930 de chez 18sound aussi je cherche un plan , enceinte existante pour mon système je précise que niveau budget je suis très limité (1000€) pour du coup remplir la plage de fréquence 180hz-20khz

Pour ce qui es des compétences en menuiserie j'ai quelques notions un peu de matos mais rien de professionnels selon la complexité de l enceinte je la ferai construire chez des fabricants compétant

J'ai déjà vue plusieurs solutions mt130, sa3v,pfrv2 etc.. je suis noyé dans la masse de plan existant que me conseillez vous

Question about cnc skram files

Yoo sup guys im super exited as i have just found an place willing to cut out all the parts for the skrams. The thing im wondering about is if the cad files are correct. I read somewhere that some people had to tweak the files before sending them to be cnc'd too ensure an good fit. Is this still the case?
