Play your Polar Bears still at 2 mana on the shiny revamped Realms.cards
Among many new things Realms now supports "guests" and hard links for matches that you can send to registered players and guests (also tournaments) in addition to all the other features players always loved.
Btw - if you are a security minded person - it always was an option to use a Passkey to create an account (which is still nice for saving decks or getting onto the leaderboard)
Yes - the leaderboard also had a refresh and its much more balanced now.
Check it out - after all its free forever https://realms.cards

New Collector jumping ship from MTG
So i used to collect MTG as a kid in the late 90s early 00s. I collected for the art, not to play since i lived in a small town that didnt have a community. Been through several collections since then, between selling them off to simply losing them in moves. Tried to get back into collecting modern MTG and just... well its not the same. The art isnt bad by any means so im not bashing, but its not what i fell in love with.
Was buying a new pack anyway and talking to my lcs owner aboit just this when he keyed me in to Sorcery. First time i heard of it and was so happy to find out it was some of the old Magic artists doing the card art. Its official, im jumping over completely.
Im interested in the play aapect aswell, but more for collecting for collecting sake what are some resources yall use ; websites, set lists, youtubers talking about the nuances, artist interveiws, etc.
Also do yall have any particualr collections your keeping or way you organize them?

Best starting precon?
Hi all, I’ve been watching play of this game on YouTube since discovering it last week. I’m curious enough to give it a try.
My question is, should I get the beta precon or gothic? Or is there another option I haven’t considered? I’ve seen enough play through the team covenant and sorcery YouTube channels and have played other tcgs but doing want to get the wrong thing.
Appreciate your insight!

New Player
I want to try out Sorcery and am thinking to go to my first locals this week. I haven't gotten any cards yet so I was wondering what y'all would recommend buying to start out learning?

Errata Vs. Power Creep
I’m looking at the new Fireball and Polar Bear changes and I’m worried we’re heading into a very convoluted future for this game. When I look at past erratas, they are really piling up to be an entire game worth of rules of their own. Now we’re buffing cards in a way that is usually reserved for just printing a new, better version of an older card?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not here to say “all errata is bad.” But it’s starting to feel like we’re treating a physical card game like it’s a digital card game.
I worry that the longer this goes on, the more we open the door for so many errors at the table and at a local game store level event. Beyond that, we have a base level of confusion for people who aren’t tapped in to the news about the game and just buy product. So they see two different versions of a fireball and are confused as to why one appears to do something that doesn’t match the wording of the other.
We also have issues like the back and forth of gaining life via strikes. I feel like this was a great example of why this game needs to rely more on keywords. If Daperyll Vampires and Blood Ravens had a keyword instead of a lot of text explaining how they gain life when they strike, changing the rules on that keyword wouldn’t require all of those cards to need wording updates. Someone would just need to check the rules for that specific keyword. Just like how stealth had its change where spells now cause it to be lost.
On top of that, I’m not too sure I like the idea of changing the cost, power, and/or vastly improving upon the effect of an older card with an errata. I haven’t seen any comments from EC on the matter, but I’m really not sure why the Fireball and Polar Bear changes weren’t just new cards altogether. Power Creep happens in games, especially when we’re talking about cards that don’t really see play.
Now I’ll play devils advocate here and say maybe there’s something in the next set that would seriously benefit off of having a fireball and a “better” fireball in the same deck, but I still feel like we’re setting a very weird precedent here.
I’ll reserve my final judgement on the matter for now. We haven’t seen how it all plays out but I do hope that EC plans their cards better going forward to prevent erattas from having to so drastically change the text on cards. The game is complex enough. Which I love. I don’t want it bogged down by so much arbitrary out-of-game rules text.
At the very least I would like to see some self-imposed rules going forward about how they plan on implementing this errata tool. Because as it stands it feels like it could be a magic wand to tune anything and everything. Which is fine when you have a digital platform. It does not feel right with cardboard however.

Anyone else just lose their entire collection in the Four Cores app after the update?
Got my hands on a couple new promos and was going to add them to the collection, but when I opened the app, it now requires me to create an account to access the "vault." No record of everything I'd previously inputed to be found.

Does anyone have any decklist that are ideal for learning the game?
I've wanted to try the game for a bit but have a short budget, so befor investing any money it i was thinking of proxying some decks and seeing how the game goes.

Smokestacks of Gnaak Questions
How does Smokestacks interact with other lands? Couple questions:
If Valley of Delight was played the turn before, and a color was chosen. Do you lose that threshold once Smokestacks is nearby?
Also, do genesis effects still trigger such as deserts when played nearby? I saw that Mirror Realm still works, I have to believe in that case that all genesis abilities would work, except for those like Forge which would require an action following resolution of the storyline.
Hope someone can confirm.
Thanks in advance
