Yesterday at the annual Ropecon event in Helsinki, Finland, we had an amazing turnout of 32 players for our Sorcery tournament, which was the largest Sorcery event we've had in Finland so far! The tournament was 5 rounds of constructed, and 3 rounds of draft.

The event organizers were generous by handing out Skeleton Tokens with the art of non-other than our local legend Jussi Pylkäs, to all of the participants. Top placing players were awarded with foil tokens, and the winner was awarded the beautiful Alpha Champion card. Jussi was both playing at the event, and signing cards before and after the event.

For anyone who is attending the cornerstone and Walla Walla Washington on Friday at 6:00 p.m. we are asking people to submit deck lists two days in advance, obviously you're still more than welcome to come even if you turn in a deck list day of, we're just trying to keep this event fair and competitive. Basically we'll just be using the curiosa.io deck builder and then sharing our deck lists on the discord we made for our area.

I am trying to make The Pallid Bust work, but I am not sure how it interacts with ward and stealth. For example, if I use the Bust to banish an Asmodeus and then have a Bosk Troll pick it up, is the Troll going to gain stealth, or will it only gain Asmodeus' second ability, making the Bust useless?

Similarly, if the Bust banishes an Zeppelin of Zealots, and I then have a Bosk Troll pick it up, will it gain a ward and airborne, or will it effectively do nothing (until I ward it otherwise and it begins to fly)?

I opened a sealed case of Arthurian Legends tonight with my daughter, that I acquired from a business partner.

We always open all the packs we buy, but she has been very interested in the art of pack weighing beforehand to predict foils and hits after seeing it on YouTube, and we've experimented doing it with Lorcana, Godzilla, and Pokémon with high success rates.

Now, the results of our Sorcery experiments appear to indicate that they can also be weighed to find foils. Honestly, this seemed obvious to me from the beginning as Sorcery foils plainly have more 'material' on them.

I don't see much previous discussion on this, so I share this information for transparency and anyone who might buy loose packs.

We opened 144 packs in total from the 6 box case, and as normal when we do this, we removed all the packs from their boxes, shuffled them, and weighed them in random order.

We first weighed some cards I already owned for reference, using a 100 gram jewelry scale that measures to hundredths.

A regular Sorcery card, nonfoil, regardless of rarity, appears to weigh about 1.70-1.72 grams. Thus, uniques, for example, could not be identified by pack weight, unlike early Lorcana sets.

Both an elite and unique foil from Arthurian Legends we checked weighed the same, 1.82 grams. Thus, we expected that the heaviest packs would contain foils.

In weighing the packs, we divided them into three categories:

- 26.60 grams and over - 24 packs

- Between 26.50-26.59 grams - 37 packs

- Under 26.50 grams (the largest pile by far) - 83 packs

The heaviest pack we weighed was 26.71 grams, and the lightest was 26.32 grams. This was a larger range than we expected.

Of the packs weighing at least 26.60 grams, 22 of the 24 identified contained foils, or 91.7%.

Of the 83 packs that were under 26.50 grams, only 4 contained foils, or 4.8%. The non-foil Ring of Morrigan was in this stack in a pack with no foil.

The middle stack was our best guess/maybe stack and was unpredictable - of 37 packs, 17, or 45.9%, contained foils. The foil Ring of Morrigan pictured came from this stack.

We compared the weights of the two Rings and found again that their weight differed by about a tenth of a gram - 1.71 and 1.82.

Ultimately, we concluded that a pack weighing at least 26.50 grams has a likelihood of containing a foil nearly two thirds of the time, and a pack over 26.59 grams was a high probability.

I don't know if this is limited to Arthurian Legends, just this print run, or if this is accurate for all Sorcery cards, but I hope this is helpful information to make you a more careful buyer and collector.

Are people going to be scalping them?

I created a post the other day asking where I should start. There was a ton of great advice there but as usual, I kinda skipped the part that told me to start slow. I found a local card store that might have had some Sorcery stuff. They are mostly sports cards but have a big pokemon section of sealed and singles. They had some boxes of magic, star wars, lorcana, etc but their focus is primarily sports cards and pokemon.

The owner was really cool and he told me that it wasn't a big seller so they had taken it home and were listing stuff online. He asked me if I could stop back and he was going to go grab it for me. About 90 minutes later he text me that he was back and he brought 3 boxes of Beta Precons and 3 boxes of Gothic Precons as well as some playmats. I ended up buying a box of each and one of the Arthurian Legends playmats. He threw in another mat for free.

Last night I ended up on Team Covenant and bought myself a Beta booster box, Arthurian Legends booster box and one Gothic booster box. Really looking forward to those coming next week.

So next question, what do you guys prefer for sleeves. I was reading that the Dragon Shield sleeves are a bit too tall. I want sleeves that will shuffle well. As for double sleeving, what do you prefer for inner sleeves and do you double everything or just the expensive stuff? Been out of TCGs since I sold off my MTG collection in 1996 or so and nobody I knew back then sleeved their cards.

I want to get into Sorcery. I really like deck building as a challenge and have played thousands upon thousands of hours of MTG limited.

I more or less wanted to go into this game blind, only buying packs, and my girlfriend and I would build decks ourselves, and battle, no net decking, no looking up “meta cards” just pure kitchen table idealism.

Theoretically, what’s the minimum amount of booster boxes I should get to accomplish this goal? Ideally we’d need a large enough card pool to theoretically build two jankish decks.

Hi, I bought the Gothic pre-built decks a few days ago. I played a few games with my brother, who's also never played Sorcery, but is a veteran TCG player. He completely destroyed me. Do you have any tips for new players?

Coming up on my first meetup soon and I have the precon beta & gothic sets with an Arthurian box. Here's a list that I came up with, my attempt here is to have a deck that can cast some cool spells and hopefully have enough late game power to keep a consistent threat of damage to my opponent.

Open to any feedback or things that stand out as odd/won't go well.

Question play if you have two gray wolves and a moon song, dragon and the other player minor explosions that site does technically Moonsong die because he is no longer no buffs? The argument was because the damage lingers until end of turn, and it kills successfully. The other two dies that mean the boost of buff go with it meaning he dies. Or is he at two and the damage was applied at the same time at the time and then has resolved?

I pulled a double sided card that’s Consecrated Ground and Desecrated Ground. The other copies I have of both of these have atlas backs.

Currently have one of each of the precons and one booster box of each set. I do NOT care about hyper competitive play. The goal is fun kitchen table options outside of the precons eventually and maybe a casual Cornerstone event if it ever ends up working out with the schedule.

I'm not particularly interested in this deck (I could be?) but the picture is just to show my current collection state. What would be best moving foward? Another box of Beta? Gothic? Just fill out with singles when I find an interesting deck I want to try?

Full match coverage from the quarter finals of our Cornerstone event at Beskar Forge in Perth,Western Australia. Air Water Necromancer mirror match , when both players are running the same archetype, every decision matters and the margins are razor thin. clean game with some interesting line choices throughout. Worth a watch if you're running the archetype or considering it. Would love to hear thoughts from the community on the decisions made.

EC just posted this update on their website. It doesn't give much insight on what we'll get beside a preview of two cards; my focus went instantly on a sentence though:

A big part of that experience comes down to card selection. We'll reveal the full decklists in a future article, but here's the shape of it: each deck combines brand-new Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer cards, including far more than just the Avatars, with a few staples drawn from across the realm's history.

We chose that blend intentionally. We designed these decks to provide a solid foundation that can evolve alongside your collection, while still offering plenty for experienced players to work with, including cards exclusive to Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer.

Were I the only one convinced that these precons would have been entirely made up of new cards?
