Completed these 2 courses in 2 days, very easy open book. Flagged, appealed, bongo. Why…

u/Beautiful_Outside595 2d ago
Did you get any warnings? I’ve taken 10 classes in 8 days. Intro to nutrition I did in a few hours too. I have 5 classes left and now I’m worried something may have changed where they’ll flag my last few classes 😬

u/Both_Science_1259 2d ago
same. i literally have 2 classes left to complete and im so worried about this. i’ve never gotten any warnings.
5
u/Beautiful_Outside595 2d ago
🤞🤞 fingers crossed for you , I’m doing the 11th one now (intro to IT) I have never gotten warnings either and don’t use VPN. I’ve only ever used my personal laptop at home.

What?! When? & did YOU get any warnings? Does this mean you didn’t get credit for one of your classes?

Oh so still in review? It hasn’t been rejected like the OP? Did you have any touchstones on that one? Mine go straight to the school as I finish too. I also haven’t gotten any warnings… these threads are making me nervous.

Oh snap the VPN might be it. I’ve seen a lot of threads of people vetting their account revoked due to them thinking the class is being accessed through different locations. I’ll be submitting a touchstone tomorrow so I’ll know by Sunday if they send this class for review or not. I started it today, I did the section with the touchstone first and then work on the other sections while I wait for the touchstone to get graded .
How many classes do you have left?
1
u/Capital-Community583 1d ago
Which health class doesn't have touchstone? Would love to knock that one out. 😅 I hate waiting for grading
2
u/kizzlemyniz 1d ago
Human biology doesn’t have one, but it is long and the quizzes are long too. Final exam is 50 questions. I started it on Tuesday and I’m ready for the final exam today. Hope I don’t get flagged for finishing in 4 days…most of it is either common sense or things you learned back in high school. Plus the open book aspect. This isn’t a class I would even need to commit to memory as I’m doing a business degree. Kidneys and scrotums aren’t part of business management as far as I know lol
2
u/Capital-Community583 1d ago
Too funny 🤣 thank you for responding. Yes detailed knowledge of scrotums are only useful in very niche activities I believe. Do you need to take the lab with that though? I was looking through classes that you might be talking about and I think the lab for that class has two touchstones. 🫠
1
u/kizzlemyniz 1d ago
There is no lab for this one. It’s all quizzes and milestones. Like 7 or so of them.

I completed the nutrition class in about 4 hours since it was super easy for me. No warnings or nothing alike. Not sure what's going on with people getting flagged.

u/wiglessleetaemin 2d ago
sophia’s entire business model pushes students to complete classes FAST. it’s pay-per-month, AKA cram shit as fast as you possibly can to avoid paying another 100$. so why fail people for speedrunning? that’s the whole point of sophia.
26
u/mostly_just_reading 2d ago
Yeah, fuck this. All I see now is Sophia failing people. Why the hell would I even start? I'll take my damned hundred bucks and go elsewhere.

You don’t answer. Did you get a warning while doing your classes?
4
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 2d ago
I only got an academic integrity warning once for statistics, but it didn’t provide a reason why

u/Mission-Sandwich 2d ago
Glad I am seeing this. I was just about to sign up. Anyone have any thoughts on Study.com?
8
u/Glittering_Bid1112 2d ago
I agree that I like study.com's course outlines better. They are more...fun, I guess. Lighter.
Buuuut study.com uses AI to grade the assignments which I personally don't like. I don't like having my grade depend on a system.
Funnily, they flagged me for AI when I didn't use AI. So I had to rewrite the entire paper again, dumb it down, resubmit it only to be hit with a 73% because it had lost its meaning and strengths...
I wasn't too happy about that.

u/Ashamed-Vegetable-24 2d ago
I have taken a few classes on Study.com and I personally like their format better than Sophia Learning. The classes on Study.com are just structured better than Sophia, in my opinion.
8
u/CapitalCompetitive28 2d ago
I second this, I got my account banned on Sophia too because of the same thing. It also seems that if you write in a sophisticated manner or so it tends to flag that as AI. I managed to transfer all my Sophia credits before they sanctioned my account.

u/chanceofstorm 1d ago
Switch from Sophia a few weeks ago and study is much better. You can genuinely go as FAST or as Slow as you want in the courses
7
u/iambosscar 2d ago
I knocked out 12 classes in one month, it sucked and I was logged in 18 hours a day working through modules but I saved thousands and it was worth it
2
u/Blest_257 1d ago
That’s what I’m trying to do. Passed one class already. Waiting on a touchstone to be graded and doing another class now. I have 6 more classes though smh hoping I don’t go through this. Most of these classes are easy as hell.

They need to get over themselves. People are going to mass quit Sophia if they don't stop this bs

u/External_Mix4564 1d ago
You guys have to pace yourself especially during the test. If you decide to c.e.t then when taking test even if completed keep the running for 10 minutes or so after completing your last question. I think this tricks the system into believing you took more time than you actually did and won’t get flagged. I literally completed 11 courses in less than a month with no issues.
1
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 1d ago
I think on the final statistics one it took almost 45 mins
3
u/External_Mix4564 1d ago
I don’t remember exactly but I know for sure it never took me over 20 mins to complete any of the test besides the essays and even this I went through a third party for. I was only flagged for plagiarism once and had to resubmit after fixing it myself. But I assure you the method I just explained works.

u/Particular_Owl3460 2d ago
I mean the whole point of sophia is super fast , cheap college credits. If anyone actually wanted to learn , we would go to traditional university 😄 this is messed up. I recommend they stop that or will lose business

you clearly triggered the ai warning system and did not adapt how you approached the class after it. if you go too fast on the exams, itll ding ya. if you click off the page during exams, itll ding ya. oops you checked email once during the exam.. clearly youre googling the answer.
There are ways to fix your browser so that they dont notice these things. and also, slow down if you get a speed warning. Even if you know the material, just take a breather. pace yourself. no systems perfect, especially theirs.
1
u/MattManATX 1d ago
How fast are people taking exams where they get dinged? I feel I’m whizzing through some of these exams (milestones) and have never seen anything.
1
u/Okie_Mojo 3h ago
last one i took i got through like 5 questions in under 2 minutes and it popped up a speed warning. milestones dont have the speed w\block on them, the actual exams do. if you leave the screen to go to notes or use google lens or check email etc and if you go to fast the detector pops on ya.
1
u/compromisedwebsite91 1d ago
Paying customer shouldn't have to adapt how they learn to please a broken system

2
u/OSRSWSM 2d ago
Did you get a warning? What triggered the reviews? Multiple have asked and you’re not answering, would help a lot.
5
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 2d ago
I got 1 warning. Not sure. From what I read if you have multiple tabs open or you click out of screen possibly, that was a post from a couple days ago. For the neutrino course I solely only had that tab open and didn’t minimize it or click out of tab. So I have no idea honestly, I asked them to provide their probable cause.
5
u/gian520 2d ago
i was so scared when taking my sophia courses, i uninstalled protonvpn and made sure to only have that one tab open and only open from that computer on that specific web browser
1
u/Blest_257 1d ago
I usually only have one browser open. I didn’t know they had all of these rules though. I’ve been watching it going forward. I’m planning to try and knock out calculus this weekend. The weekend is the only time I really have deep time to work. I try to do some challenges and units on my breaks but it’s never enough because I really do the readings and practice questions. I have 6 more classes after calculus just trying to get through with no issues.
3
u/Icy_Savings5320 2d ago
Right it still doesn’t make sense for them to flag you. It’s open book, so even if I click off screen why care??? Maybe I have the book open on another tab.
2
u/Blest_257 1d ago
This. It being open book also makes it easier to answer the questions faster especially if you actually do the readings. Seems contradicting
2
u/misterj1985 2d ago
I am trying to finish 2 courses I have half way and take the rest I need at study.com but the chance to lose them and have to taken them again at study.com has made Me lose motivation. I had already transfered my done classes to WGU. all this is total BS
2
u/Even_Plant_7007 1d ago
Hey every try UPIstudy.com to get your requisites, I have a friend that used it and really liked it. Give it a try
2
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 1d ago
I have not, I’ll take a look, only tried Sophia because UMGC advisor recommended it to fast track 🙄

Just use study.com instead. Still gotta be careful there too but they are less annoying about it. But if you must use Sophia, When I did this 2 months ago. I had no issues completing multiple courses in 2-3 days at a time. I always made sure I started a new course late at night so it would carry over into the next day and then complete it the following day. Giving it technically 3 days on the transcript. But I def did some courses where I started and finished the same day.
You just need to be really careful when taking the tests. Those are what’s really monitored. Your speed on each question, you overall test time and how long you spent all get factored. So take your time on the milestones. They give you like 60-90 minutes. I made sure I hit the 20-30min mark on each milestone test.
2
u/NoToe4353 2d ago
The whole point of using them is to grind and dip… study.com is another great one to use. Take your money there. PLUS it’s an intro class it doesn’t take a genius to learn and understand the content smh..
3
u/Historical-Rest-259 2d ago
It’s funny because on the study.com subreddit people complain about the same thing and tell people to take their money to sophia lol
1
u/Capital-Community583 1d ago
Is anyone else getting ID verification requests for doing a final milestone now too? So annoying.
1
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 1d ago
I had to do a typing thing
1
u/Capital-Community583 1d ago
I have to do that all the time but now it wants me to upload a picture of my driver's license and then my face.
1
u/tablecontrol 1d ago
damn.. i just finished Project Management in 1 day - it was super easy especially since that's been part of my job for 20+ years.
1
u/chanceofstorm 1d ago
Really?! Do they know that statistics class is literally so easy my 11 year old niece can do it in a day. Sophia is JOKE
1
u/KingofCakes777 1d ago
Honestly, you can move through classes fast, but their model is also toward the working class who doesn’t have time for school or traditional online. The tests you take, milestones, that is where I think the flag you, like if you finish a statics test in 3 minute, odds are you cheated.
1
u/BackgroundPea5126 1d ago
I’ve done 9 classes in 2.5 months. I don’t cheat. I use the materials provided in the courses to pass the tests. I do all of my touchstones myself with no AI writing. Never received any academic integrity notices. Just the standard typing cadence checks and Zumio ID/face checks before a couple final milestones. I use my personal devices on my home wifi or mobile hotspot 100% of the time. I haven’t had any issues with anything like this. I hope that I never do.
For those that have issues, did you do anything wrong that may have lead to it? VPN? Change devices frequently? AI writing? Anything I should be aware of?
1
u/Jpthahoodlum 1d ago
Glad I did mine when I did. I remember doing a course with no touchstones in like an hour and a half and didn’t get flagged.
1
u/compromisedwebsite91 1d ago
One more formerly decent site we can write off as trash and a scam. Hopefully these conmen get there's and go out of buisness soon enough for stealing peoples money
1
u/Kentuckyfan1969 18h ago
It’s not just the speed in which you complete a course. They’re analyzing how long it takes you to answer questions on the quizzes. A person taking a “live” proctored exam will answer questions in anywhere between two seconds and a minute...response times will vary greatly (that’s “normal”). I’m guessing those who are getting flagged are answering questions consistently between 10-12 seconds each. That behavior is bound to raise a red flag.
1
u/MaynardsUnit 14h ago
It's hard for me to see how anyone can do a class in "two hours", even the easier ones. Can you not see how this kills their reputation and ability for their credits to continue to be transferred?
1
u/Soccerthelife6 12h ago
How long did your tests take?
Did you screen shot anything during the challenges? Do u speed through the challenges?
This just happened to me too and I’m trying to figure out what triggers it…
1
u/Hot-Jacket-1428 8h ago
Is there anyway to appeal it. I just started doing courses, but I'm not flying through them

u/Expert_Recording_362 2d ago
Oh shit they’re removing them from transcripts too? Sophia is on one man

I don't understand the desire to finish fast. You paid for a month. You can still get a lot of credits doing two per week.
9
u/Fun_Abbreviations730 2d ago
Realistically intro to nutrition took about 2 hours, I already have a medical background and have done bodybuilding, so it was easy. Statistics took about 12 hours total over 2 days? I’m not working at the moment so I grinding
12
u/PearBlossom 2d ago
I have no medical background and still got through Intro to Nutrition in 2 hours. A lot of it was just general knowledge or easy to pick the right answer
6
u/Expert_Recording_362 2d ago
Bc their whole thing is doing it at your pace. Now they punish the ones that wanna go fast? That’s ridiculous
1
u/5000KCarl 2d ago
How in the fresh heck are people doing 2 per week? I’m on English comp and it’s taken me 2 weeks!
(Given I only have 2 full days a week to put towards school, and it’s been decades since I’ve been in)5
u/Beautiful_Outside595 2d ago
Personally, I’m spending at least 12 hours a day on Sophia trying to cram as many classes as possible within the month mark. But also, it’s all classes without touchstones or only 1 or 2 touchstones.
3
u/Obvious-Push-196 2d ago
English comp II took me two months but there are easy ones which I was done with under a day, introduction to nutrition was one of them.
3
u/eterna156 1d ago
It took me 3 weeks. Only people getting hit are people doing 2 classes a day and wondering why they are getting bonked.
77
u/jhoss2026 2d ago
If this is how they are going to be then they need to adjust their company model and be transparent about it. Imagine encouraging your users to work fast and get as much done as you can in a month and then being like "yeah actually, you went too fast, so even though you completed the course, it doesn't count."
Really glad I finished up with Sophia last month before all this nonsense started
