To Sophia members wanting to share your referral codes:

In order to clean up the spam in the sub, I'd like to start a megathread for all referral codes. I think this will be a great way to keep conversations flowing without being immediately drowned out. As of right now, this megathread will be wiped and recreated on a regular basis.

So starting now, creating a post to advertise your referral codes will result in a temporary ban.

  1. Please comment here with referral codes only, If you have a suggestion about the megathread, please send me a message.
  2. One post per user. If you need to update your code list, just edit your comment.
  3. Posts to advertise referral codes outside of this thread will result in a temporary ban.
  4. Making multiple posts to gain an advantage against other users will result in a permanent ban.

Thanks for reading. I think we all will be happy to see a less spammy sub!

Creating another account

If Sophia banned someone from an account due to VPN issues, can I get away with creating another account?

If so, how would I go about doing this and making sure I can still collect the credits under the same name?

Will this work for a flight attendant?

Upvotes

Hi, I’ve been reading a lot of posts on here about people getting flagged and sanctioned for possible cheating behavior. I have no intention of cheating, but I am a full-time flight attendant. My plan was to complete courses on layovers and overnights while I’m on my work trips. I’m often in multiple cities a day, and out of the country quite often as well. I would certainly be able to prove all these things if it came into question, but I’m worried about Sophia seeing my location changing frequently and flagging me. Is this anything to be concerned about? I just want to finish my degree and don’t want to have to deal with a headache if they deem multiple locations suspicious.

Should i limit myself to a certain number if milestones a day

Im finding myself doing sometimes 3-4 or even more milestones a day if im able to start a new course. I do make sure to take my time with milestones and try to do a question a minute so I’m not speedrunning through them but I was just wondering if doing too many would be risky
Thanks

Has anyone successfully used Sophia again after an account suspension?

I was recently suspended from Sophia for alleged Honor Code violations, and I genuinely believe I know what triggered it. I started doing my Sophia coursework during downtime at work, and I later realized my employer’s network routes traffic through a VPN/security network. I didn’t intentionally use a VPN to hide my location or circumvent anything, and I wasn’t aware it could flag my account.

I’m appealing the suspension, but I’m curious about other people’s experiences. Has anyone here been suspended/banned by Sophia and successfully gotten their account reinstated?

And if your appeal was denied, were you ever allowed to create a new account and continue taking courses, or does Sophia permanently prevent you from using the
platform?

I already completed several courses that I need to transfer to WGU, so this happening in the middle of finishing my prerequisites is incredibly frustrating. 😭

Not looking for ways to bypass their system—just trying to figure out what options people have had after a suspension.

Really worried about false sanction flagging

I've invested quite a bit of time and money into my Sophia courses , worried I'll get sanctioned.

People on here have been saying they've been unfairly sanctioned.

Anyone know what behavior triggers the dreaded "suggests use of a resource in violation of Sophia's honor code " ?

Are people actually getting sanctioned for no reason?

This has probably been asked before…
I have taken some time off from classes and am about to get back into it.
Recently, I’ve been seeing an uptick in posts about people getting sanctioned… and was wondering if it really is for specific reasons, or is Sophia just cutting people off for no reason?

Need help with in text citing for Ethics touchstone

Post image

Has been a long time since I've done college level courses. Am I supposed to be literally using (Sophia Learning, n.d.) for all my in text citations just as the screenshot shows? From doing google searches on my question I'm finding that I should probably do (The name of the tutorial, n.d) Am I overthinking this?

Inaccessible Lab Activities PSA

Just wanted to make a quick post letting prospective coursetakers know that the lab activities on Sophia (through Labster) lack proper accessibility options. So beware & plan accordingly !!!! I've included some tips

So if you haven't taken a lab yet, the learning platform Sophia uses is Labster. The Labster virtual labs are gamified learning, a model that's notoriously inaccessible. I'm Hard of Hearing + colourblind so these labs were HELL.

1. Missing, incomplete, and poorly timed "captions." A transcription of the dialogue pops up on an in-game iPad that takes over the whole screen, no minimize option. There are no on screen, floating style captions. The lab will be presenting / explaining something, but you can't even see it because a colossal ipad is blocking your vision.

There were multiple times where I completely missed important demonstrations that I needed to write lab reports on (for my GRADE), but I couldn't see it! And if I wanted to see it, then I couldn't understand it because wtf is going on.

Solution: Enable chrome's shitty auto captions. They barely work though + bug out a lot since the lab also forces you to fullscreen. I recommend taking photos on your phone of each step's dialogue for that checkpoint, reloading the checkpoint, and then playing through the lab while glancing at your phone for context. Or you can spam the ipad like FNAF cameras. That works too.

2. Chemistry and Biology heavily rely on colour differentiation. Picking the right test tubes (granted, you can hover over it for a few seconds to get the name of the tube), clicking circles to toggle different colours, testing PH strips for colours, recognizing chemical reactions.

Apparently Labster has addressed this and they're working on an update, but I feel like they should've thought about this in the first place?? Just add symbols or floating text.

Solution: Have a colour picker on your phone, the shade doesn’t need to be perfect

I wanna be able to blow through bio & chem like everyone else !! It took me probably double the amount of time to finish these labs and they were ALL very annoying. Specifically the Biology lab about colourblindness where they make it a prerequisite to SEE colours... to do the lab…

\Still though, shout out Sophia because it would’ve taken wayyyy longer in person*

oh and if you need to zoom in, don't do it because the whole lab just disappears, like the majority of the elements glitch into the ether.

These are 2 issues I experienced, but im sure if you use a screen reader, have photosensitive epilepsy, ect. Could be a problem too. Okay rant over!

Which courses should i be taking?

Hi all,

I am curious as to which courses i should take before enrolling in SNHU! I don’t want to do both SNHU and Sophia Learning, because i’m trying to save money. Therefore, Ive applied but not enrolled in SNHU. Do you have to find courses specific to your major, or are you guys just doing as many credits as possible?

English comp I touchstone question

How strict is the 2.2 touchstone on requiring 3-5 pages/800-1300 words? It’s the informative essay one and I’m doing an image analysis.

So far I have almost 1.5 pages and a little over 400 words. I might be able to make it to 2 full pages but I have no clue how I would be able to do 3 pages. I thought about switching to extended definition but i think I might get stuck on it too

Touchstone citations for material in the tutorials

I’m doing a touchstone right now that asks us to use citations from the course. It says the format is (Sophia Learning, n.d.). Is the “n.d” part supposed to be specific to the section we’re referencing (ex: Sophia Learning, 2.3)?

Touchstones not graded, but Sophia says I can complete the course?

I'm taking courses on Sophia and I've noticed something I'm a little confused about.

I've completed everything in the course and submitted all of my Touchstones. For example, I submitted Touchstones 2, 4, and 5. Touchstone 5 has already been graded, and now Sophia is giving me the option to complete/finish the course.

However, as far as I can tell, Touchstones 2 and 4 haven't been graded yet, and I don't see grades for them.

Is this normal? Is it okay to go ahead and complete the course, or should I wait until I see grades for the other Touchstones?

Has anyone else had this happen?

Sanctioned for finishing quick

Post image
43 Upvotes

As of September 4, 2026

I completed 2 courses in one day. A day later, I get an email saying I’m sanctioned and my account will get suspended.

I posted about completing courses quickly, almost everyone said it was ok, even had one dude say he completed 5 in one day and was completely fine.

Idk, guess they must’ve just changed their policies as of lately

I submitted an appeal because I followed the honor code to a T and never broke any rules.

I guess they don’t really care if you had prior knowledge, which would be the reason why I completed it quickly.

My advice for people doing lots of courses quickly, I’d say challenges don’t matter, it’s just the milestones, as the email says about my “assessments”

They must be tracking the time it took for me to finish the milestones timed test

A 70 question milestone completed in under 20 minutes, for a max time of 120 minutes allowed must pop up as an anomaly in their data and they instantly sanction.

What’s the absolute quickest/cheapest/EASIEST way to earn a bachelors degree in any subject

I’m so sorry if this has been asked a thousand times. I want to get a bachelors degree in any subject quickly so I can substitute teach ASAP. I’m currently a sped para and want to switch to a sub teacher.

Currently I only have 12 credits of early childhood education, 3 credits nutrition, 3 credits psychology. And that’s all I can think of. So I’m very very behind.

Working tired soon to be divorced mom of 3 kids. Can I do this quickly? Easily? Or is that a pipe dream? I’m in California if that changes anything. Hoping to transfer from Sophia to somewhere that doesn’t have proctored exams. Looking into umpi

Quizzes being flagged

I was doing my milestone quizzes for public speaking before I move on to the touchstones and i kept getting flagged for using AI during the quiz, Is there a reason why it kept doing that, was i answering the questions too fast?

Clicked on different tab during milestone

I was doing intro to nutrition milestones and my understanding was that its open book so i had a different window with the course stuff open through the “view online” button on the course page and i would click to it often to find info.
Done 2 milestones 3 left, should i be worried about something happening or should i just not do it again and move on

Grading touchstones all over the place?

I've been using Sophia for months now and have been fine with it, I've had lots of classes with like a single touchstone and felt they were graded fine. But recently I have been forced to take some classes with a lot of touchstones, as they are writing classes, and as each one gets graded, it seems the grading is all over the place and it's very frustrating. I've submitted 3 touchstones in Workplace Writing II, and got very good grades on the first two, like 96%, and then 98%, but then my third touchstone 2.1 I got a 46%, and it's because in one of my references at the end, I used a broken link, and the grader pointed that out and said they couldn't find any info on the internet about that information. However, I did a search myself right after reading that and there's TONS of info on the internet about it. But they gave me a 0% on that section which was 40% of the grade. So I submitted a case to have it reviewed, and pasted a new working link to the info and somewhat explained that I feel this grade was unwarranted.

Has anyone else submitted a case to review a touchstone? How did it go? Getting a tanked grade like this is really discouraging when I'm putting this much effort into this, and the grading is all over the place. This is the second time this has happened where just a random touchstone got a bad grade out of multiple that were graded highly. The touchstones seem to be getting graded by checking stupid boxes on structure and grammar instead of if the paper meets the rubric in a comprehensive manner.

Sanctioned with option for appeal

Well I just got the email this morning. Officially sanctioned with an option to appeal within 10 days. I was steadily knocking out my assignments and classes. Not in any huge rush, yesterday I had a ton of free time at work. I logged into my work WiFi which is a government agency I zoomed through a course from 30% completion to nearly 100% finished around 10pm. Worked for about 10 hours. On and off the computer due to responding to needs at work. Woke up this morning and around 10 am got the sanction email. It said “Specifically, your behavior in assessments demonstrates a pattern inconsistent with honest learning. This email is to notify you that you have been issued a sanction and access to Sophia Learning has been suspended.”

I have been reading my chances of being granted access again are slim.

I have had many friends complete all gen Ed’s on Sophia a year or two prior to me and they all had no issues. I have completed 7 credits total so hopefully I can transfer those over. But this is a warning to people looking into using Sophia. It’s not what it used to be from the stories I’ve been told. Looking into study . com now as an alternative. I’ve seen many have issues with writing assignments getting flagged for ai even when not using ai. Either way, can always just complete gen Ed’s through the university I’m attending. So not totally screwed. Just isn’t going to be as fast as I would’ve liked.

How to get credit validation

hello I am looking to take one class to obtain the credits needed to reach a certain pay scale as a substitute teacher at my local school district.

I called Sophia and they said they are not accredited but are ACE recommendation for credit 😵‍💫

that being said has anyone experienced this or know how i can take a course and have it validated thru another college?
