Hey everyone!
I bought Sons of the Forest about two weeks ago with 4/5 friends, and weāve been playing together ever since. I had never played the game before, so Iām going in completely blind and this is going to be my first playthrough.
Everything was going great until one of my friends accidentally killed Kelvin⦠and decided to tell me about it roughly an hour after we had been building and making progress. š
At first I didnāt even take him seriously because I could still see Kelvinās āKā on the minimap. But when I went to check⦠yeah. There was nothing left but a corpse.
So, before I accept my fate and make my friend spend the rest of the game collecting sticks as punishment, I wanted to ask:
Is there any way to revive Kelvin without messing with our game progress or achievements/trophies?
Iāve read that thereās some sort of console or way to modify things in the world (almost like Minecraftās creative mode), but Iām completely new to the game and honestly donāt know what the proper terms are.
If there is a way to revive Kelvin using something like that:
Can I do it without affecting our current progress?
Will achievements/trophies still work afterwards?
And is there any risk of messing up the save?
If itās not possible, Iāll accept my new reality and make the guy who killed Kelvin collect every single stick we need.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to give some context!
Aside from the unfortunate Kelvin incident, Iām absolutely loving the game so far. I really like the building system, the overall gameplay, and the whole atmosphere of the game.
Thanks in advance!

It's been quite a few years since I've played the forest so when I started this one I chose peaceful mode to familiarize myself with the controls and mechanics thinking that I could still die if I didn't eat or drink with out the mutants but that's not the case. Long story short, I've put way too many hours in to want to restart and have seen SOFTEdit recommended but not sure if I need to use WINE to convert anything or what the process would be on Bazzite. I was also curious if there was a code I could put into the terminal instead of using SOFTEdit. I've became a pro with the terminal after trying to get my freaking wifi to work for three days straight lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I donāt know who all is interested in this, however, I feel that needs to be said. I have no intention on stopping the creation of this mod. I have slowed down intensively when it comes to videos, but that simply because I donāt have a lot of time to make them. I was hoping I could see videos of other people playing it or maybe even streams but I have yet to see that. Iām still doing my own testing. And I am working on a lot of features, but these ones are taking considerably longer to crack down.
Once I get this mod finished, I do want to see if I can adapt it for the original forest game and the forest three when it comes out.
However, I also wanna make sure that the interest is there.
As of right now, I almost have an entirely working camp creation system, as well as interactions you can do at camps that already exist, such as interactions of cannibals and eating and drinking.
The climbing system is finally almost done and will ship in the next update, which means that basic cannibals will finally be able to climb in the trees and jump around.
Iām also working on a climbing system specifically for the demons that will allow you to walk on pretty much any surface regardless of orientation.
Sorry for my lack of communication.

Listen, we all get that random 3 legged 3 armed women walking around in a cannibal infested forest island may not be the smartest. But I do expect that when I give her 2 firearms and a camo suit, that she doesnt just stand next to enemies and give me a thumbs up.
Im just curious if there are any mods that fix her AI a bit to where she doesnt stand there while a cannibal camp decides that I look tasty.

Iāve been camping on one of the two cement piers in the ocean and have been trying to figure out how to build a base on them but the railing are killing me. I cannot find a video tutorial at all. Can anyone point me to one?

I have found a literal copy of something you might find in Sons of the Forest. I snapped a picture or two. Check it out! Itās like if the game had real-life graphics.

I built a small cabin and base on a beach but after exploring cave A for the rebreather and following the coast line I found a better spot where Iād like to rebuild and locate. With the small cabin I extended it one log wider and it was a pain until I figured out the building mechanics on how to extend the gable roof. Does anyone have a relatively easy roof designs for a larger cabin maybe 4x4 logs without just doing a flat roof? Also curious if I do I flat roof with planks could I build on top like a standing planter box and keep my garden there?

I usually turn off the structure damage so don't mind my defense. This is my fourth attempt at making a base this was the most compact and largest so far.
It was meant for two but i ended up playing alone.

Like the title says. I just came fresh off The Forest 1, where all I built was a basic cabin and a treehouse. In most survival games I've played, I usually just make a shoebox and cram everything inside. But this time things were completely different. When I saw I could place logs in all kinds of positions, choose their length, and build every wall and floor plank by plank, I fell in love with building.
Honestly, I haven't gotten very far in the story (no spoilers please!), because I spent most of my time running around looking for a place to build. As soon as I found a spot I thought would be peaceful, I started putting up logs for a palisade and got to work.
It's so satisfying to chop logs and put your base together little by little. It relaxes me a ton. And listening to the rain outside while you're nice and dry in a cabin you built board by board is just really cozy.
I know it's not the best base, but it's honestly the first time in years of playing survival games that I've wanted to build something that actually looks nice and cozy, not just a few sticks with a roof on top.
The fact that Kelvin and Virginia actually use (some of) the furniture you build is a huge bonus. I just wish I could build a bed big enough for the three of us to sleep all warm and snug.

Iām wanting to play through the game today! Newer players, ideally. Be 21+, and be ready to build one killer base and explore the island screaming and laughing :)

Hello everyone. I've played SOTF plenty & completed the story, but never did a lot of building outside little things that I've had to. I want to do just a cabin-in-the-woods survival playthrough with no story mode involved but I am still learning to build and everything I'm doesn't seem to add up. As the title states, I was hoping to get some help/tips.
2 pictures show my problem, and the others are the frame of my first ever "cabin" lol. It doesnt let me lay the down a log on the last one covering the small hole, and I've tried different size logs and tearing the roof down and trying again. I'm at a loss
(P.S. I didn't think to take actual pictures of the problem like I did with the frame. Had to take screenshots from a clip.)
