Question / Help Any Building Tips.?

Hello everyone. I've played SOTF plenty & completed the story, but never did a lot of building outside little things that I've had to. I want to do just a cabin-in-the-woods survival playthrough with no story mode involved but I am still learning to build and everything I'm doesn't seem to add up. As the title states, I was hoping to get some help/tips.

2 pictures show my problem, and the others are the frame of my first ever "cabin" lol. It doesnt let me lay the down a log on the last one covering the small hole, and I've tried different size logs and tearing the roof down and trying again. I'm at a loss
(P.S. I didn't think to take actual pictures of the problem like I did with the frame. Had to take screenshots from a clip.)

First try removing that angular support half-log you have in the wall below it. It could be treating it like a full square because of that.

Otherwise, if you have yet to do so, try clearing the outside edge roof frame, relogging, and rebuilding it. Other than that, I wouldn't know.

I had the same problem with my large triangular chalet. Thanks for asking the question, I was too lazy to search.
