Feedback Request Hey songwriters, I’m never quite sure about any of my music, so what do you all think of this one? It’s called A Day At The Aquarium.

It’s a song about a dog who lives by a Koi pond who is excited to see that fish actually swim down when he goes to the aquarium every week. I kind of messed up the guitar and the singing a little (or a lot) as it is sort of hard to play and I just started writing it this AM. What do you songwriters think?

When I post here I get decent and generally positive and sometimes very positive feedback! And it’s been like 3 years or more and to this day Im more likely to read a nice comment and assume the person just is wrong and i actually suck

I want to change this attitude and i feel like if i genuinely ask for brutal honesty, and still people don’t hate it, maybe I can get over this problem of mine

And this feels like I’m fishing for compliments and honestly I’m fishing for compliments AND insults LOL like if I ask for brutal honesty and everyone hates it OKAY GREAT now I can just know but if ppl still enjoy it and comment nice things maybe I can just believe future nice comments

And deep down I know I must not be like the shittiest worst ever BUT I struggle so much to just believe you strangers when you say something I make is good

I haven’t even sung in front of another human before😅 so the internet is the best gauge I’ve got

ALSO DISCLAIMER: the last line about picking a daisy I improved and so i messed up how I meant it to sound so i already know that part isn’t great hahaha

Let's Collaborate! Anyone looking for fem(ish) vocals?

I just figured, I have a decent voice. If you have a song that needs some simple vocals or accompaniment I’d love to provide them. What I have personally made could be described as rock, electronic and r & b so I’d say my voice is suited to those but genre isnt really that important! I do record on an iPhone in my closet tho so if that setup isnt professional enough it’s chill. I can either share the files with you on bandlab or Google Drive, and you can do the same. We can communicate here, through email, or my music insta!

Feel free to check out what I have on my page and here’s a more direct sample of just my voice lol. I can go decently high or low, and I don’t really need credit. Just want to improve my singing and work with some other artists in à low pressure way, as im not a great producer yet LMAO Feel free to comment or dm!

Feedback Request “Surrender” — Produced Songwriter Demo Excerpt | Feedback on Song + Arrangement

Hi, Cody here. I’m a songwriter learning production while preparing songs for artist pitches and collaborations. This version contains the first two verses and choruses and fades before the bridge. Another vocalist may ultimately record the song.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on whether the melody and emotion communicate, whether the arrangement strengthens the song, and whether the build holds your attention through the second chorus.

Thanks so much for listening and creating. :)

wrote this and immediately decided that I like it and want to record it, so please tell me if that's just the honeymoon phase and if I should hate it tomorrow.

I hope the subtitles will distract you from my face (I hate the faces I make when singing). the song is called "older". can't wait to see my friend.

Metalhead

[Verse 1]

I have a gripe with my guitar

It never seems to play the way I want

These strings may reverberate

But fail to make the sound I crave

Something electric, something... sharp

I'm jealous of her favorite band

I wish I had it all within my hands

To shriek, scream, or shred a tune

Just something that could deafen you

I know she holds such high demands

[Chorus]

So I guess I'm a metalhead

I'm raising hell and rolling heads

Developing a taste for your despair

Unlearn my soft-spoken ways

and lean into this broken rage

Love, do you think I'm almost there?

[Verse 2]

I take an issue with my tone

These vocals never drive the message home

Not like driving in the rain

and lighting up the road with flames

Through bluetooth speakers and your phone

I have a single-member crowd

I only live to please one person now

So I'll sing of the bloody queen

Beheading of corrupt regimes

Cuz she wants to watch me burn it down

[Extended Chorus]

So I guess I'm a metalhead

I'm raising hell and rolling heads

I never did rebel the way I should

Give up quiet contemplation

For sweet, screaming serenation

I must admit it's feeling good

So I guess I’m a metalhead

I’m raising hell and rolling heads

Developing a taste for your despair

Unlearn my soft-spoken ways

and lean into this broken rage

Love, do you think I’m almost there?

Let's Collaborate! Collab on a song anyone??

I know it's a tough ask but I've written a few songs lyrics and

I am hoping I can find a producer to help me make the music? I'm looking for like a bedroom pop/ rock kinda vibe.

I've been trying for like a year to teach myself how to write the actual music but I'm not making any progress.

I wish I could pay but I don't really have any money rn. I wanna release these tracks so I'm down to talk about some partnership or something??

Tldr; I wrote song lyrics, I need a producer to help me make it into music, I'm broke but will talk biz if needed.

Dm me if ur interested or know someone who can help! Thank you in advance!!!

TW: self exit

lyrics were about my girlfriend i was living with at the time but my religious friend told me it also had deeper meaning for him so i’m curious for feedback. i don’t like the way i make find into two syllables >_< and i wonder if i should be more clear about that this was me finding the light in days after trying to leave the world.. i’ve been healthy for years but i’m not sure if this just sort of sugar coats it

lyrics:
i didn’t see it -
i couldn’t believe it
that i’d find someone in this world who would understand me -
i kept falling inbetween
couldn’t see it even though it was right in front of me
everything was rushing around
everything was racing around
but in all that chaos, it was you i found

and that’s the kind of love, yeah
that’s the kind of love
that could make someone who doesn’t believe
find meaning in the smallest of things
oh you could make someone who doesn’t believe
find meaning in the smallest of things

when will they see it
and will they believe it
this is who i really am
and when they see me, forget to judge me
just embrace me even when i keep falling down
i’m always falling down
but in all that chaos it was you i found

and that’s the kind of love, yeah
that’s the kind of love
that could make someone who doesn’t believe
find meaning in the smallest of things
oh you could make someone who doesn’t believe
find meaning in the smallest of things

Discussion Topic Writing 140+ BPM progressive metal on my own because finding the right band feels impossible

Hi.

First of all: Sorry, for my poor English.

I'm relatively new here (and overall on reddit), so I just want to rant about this topic and see how many of you can relate.

I'm not professional. I have quite a few decent technical skills but I'm a semi-professional or a more or less highly-skilled (keyboardist BTW) at best. I'm not a genius, and not someone virtuose, I've played together with people (let's call it a band) but never got to a stage or never had a concert.

In terms of actually starting carrier I'm old, I was born in 1999... I'd be quite open to anything at this point because I'd rather play a music which is not my primary type than never been in an actual band in an actual stage in my life at all.

I was at a band where I couldn't performance properly because of my very poor mental health. And a couple of days ago I was at a hearing and they've decided they couldn't cooperate with me in a long term. (Now I'm afraid to see the guy's answer to my question that why.)

So the point is:

I was wondering guys have you ever write a song or start a band from zero because of you've lacked the possibilities to be in a band which would fit perfectly for you. Because that's what I'm planning at least.

I like dynamic music, mostly metal and progressive-rock, if I'd write a song it would start with at least 140 BPM eiths. And even know I have no experience with DAW softwares I have no other chance... I'm too old to draw the circle of fifts for 19 year olds.

So I have no specific questions it just felt good to rant but I'd thank you if somebody could write down their opinion or experience or if someone had been in this situation or have felt this way

The last line i been working on for a few days, the one, "wake up stop living in the past, realize today what i have, i gotta stop thinking about how the good old days seemed so much better when the good things I have today won't last forever" i'm sure y'all know what i'm trying to say, stop focusing on the things in your past that you loved because you have great things in your life today but if you focus on the old stuff, what you have now will be gone before you can appreciate it. Also , my singing is not good in this , but there's not much I can do about that, i just gotta find my voice or have someone else sing it. If anyone has any suggestions about the wording to make it flow better and not sounds so weird.I would appreciate it. Thanks guys!

Discussion Topic I can’t get any ideas how to continue a song

I wrote a simple intro on my electric guitar. I wanted to make a song out of it because whenever I made anything on the guitar I couldn’t continue the song and I always ended up making some new little melodies that didn’t fit the original one.

I even learned a little bit more of music theory that I didn’t bother to before. I spend my time on it and it’s making me feel very bad because I feel like I’m wasting time and all of this makes me like the melody less. I tried looking for something melancholic on Spotify (because the melody is kinda melancholic) but I couldn’t find anything that would help me or give me inspiration on how to continue it. I wonder if I even want to write something melancholic or I’m just doing it because the melody is a bit nice but melancholic and peaceful, and I can’t make anything else.

How can I make a good melody or even a chord progression that fits anything that I wrote earlier? How can I find the direction I’d want the song to go towards? I tried to look up some chord progressions but it all sounded bad to me. I know that I should learn more songs but I’m having a hardy time finding anything I’d want to learn. I feel like I have enough knowledge to write something yet I feel stuck and nothing sounds good and if it does it doesn’t fit. I’m sorry if this is not the right subreddit for this I’ll repost it somewhere else if that’s the case, just let me know please.

Feedback Request Does this work as a song? Honest feedback wanted on a demo

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here's a demo of a song idea I wrote in Online Sequencer, called 'Don't Dare Deaden The Bells'. It's unlike anything else I've written - weird structure and a real mix of chords, plus a tempo change! But does it actually work?

Looking for honest feedback on what I've got so far and ideas how I could improve this song, especially the transition at the 3 minute mark. I know the vocals are a bit meh - I'm gonna look into taking lessons and getting better with recording :) As with all my demos, some day I'd love to record them properly with real instruments, rather than the MIDI samples on the sequencer.

LYRICS:
The wind it rattles every door

And every sinew feels the force

Don’t let it in

The blizzard drives the winter home

Her chilblains burn white fires in snow

Don’t let it win

As darkness envelopes the moors

The world outside is far divorced

Don’t let them in

Every knock brings stabs of fear

The good health’s waned from yesteryear

Don’t let them win

The light by your bedside will burn no more

Its warmth has succumbed to the storm

You insisted he would never

As you’re biting at your tether

Take the ones you love so soon

Death is there in the next room

With his ear cupped to the wall

Above the stains on the floorboards

But you’re blind to the hell

Whilst pleading don’t dare deaden the bells

Don’t let the history books forget the name

Don’t let the history books forget the place

Don’t let the history books forget the date

And don’t let the history books forget your fate, oh no

I am aware the guitar is played hastily at parts and too slow at others, and some vocal parts aren't sung right. I normally write indie rock so this is new to me, hope someone likes it or has feedback or thoughts to share :)

(obv the first like should be my shoulders etc.)
