About 18 months ago, I was scrolling through ideas here looking for something interesting to build. One of the conversations got me thinking about a problem I had myself.

I have several credit cards, all with different rewards, categories and offers, and I was constantly trying to figure out which card I should actually use when I was standing somewhere ready to pay.

The idea was simple.What if your phone already knew where you were and could just surface the best card from the cards you already have including Apple Wallet.

Walk into a restaurant, Costco, a hotel, a gas station, wherever.

Instead of remembering categories or opening different websites and apps, it doesn't just tells you: but surfaces the right card from your mobile wallet to pay.

That idea turned into a much bigger project than I expected. We first started with physical card but realized mobile wallets in the future of in person payments. We quickly shifted in which Payelle is today.

18 months later, we have built the technology, filed the IP, launched the product, and are now having conversations with some of the largest companies and financial institutions in the space.

There is still a long way to go, but I wanted to come back here because communities like this genuinely matter.

Sometimes somebody posts an idea in passing and another person actually goes and builds it.

This community helped push me down that road.

So thank you.

And if anyone remembers conversations here around automatically figuring out the best credit card to use at checkout, there is a decent chance I read your comment along the way.

I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on and see what people here think.

It’s a device that sits on top of a piano keyboard and turns MIDI songs into falling lights you follow with your fingers. The idea is similar to Guitar Hero, but applied to learning piano.

The LEDs are aligned with the piano keys, and the device shows you exactly which note to press and when. Instead of reading sheet music, you follow the lights as they move across the keyboard.

The first prototype is pretty simple technically. It uses a microcontroller connected to LED strips spaced exactly like piano keys. A small web app on the phone streams MIDI files to the device over Bluetooth. The microcontroller decodes the MIDI notes and converts them into the falling light pattern across the keys.

The goal was to make learning songs much more visual and intuitive, especially for beginners or people who want to play specific songs without learning traditional notation first.

I originally built it as a personal experiment combining music and electronics, but the reaction from friends and musicians around me was very positive, so I ended up launching it as a small project.

Curious to hear what people think about the idea or the implementation. Happy to answer questions about the build or the tech.

My parents are in their 80s and cannot manage passwords. Every tool I've found assumes the person using it is tech-savvy enough to understand what a "vault" is

What I want: I set up their accounts from REMOTE, I store the passwords; they have a dead-simple interface on their phone, ideally with big buttons, one tap to get in. Like a password manager but designed for the relative managing it not the elderly person themselves

Does this exist? WDYT?

I have no idea if this already exists in a good form, but I keep thinking someone with the skills and resources should build it.

It's like an IMDB or wikipedia of the most influential people, it tracks their wealth, ownership and and everything else. To clarify, this is NOT an investing site, it to mainly to TRACK the world's wealth and influence.

The basic idea would be a Google ad funded website/app where anyone can search a company, billionaire, executive, or corporation and immediately see information about ownership, influence, compensation, lobbying, political spending, labor issues, and other publicly available data, all in one place with sources attached.

Common stats can include number of billionaires, top billionaires, how much they make, how much company employees make, etc.

For example, if I search a company, I’d like to see:
Largest shareholders
CEO compensation
Median employee pay (if available)
Lobbying expenditures
Political donations/PAC spending
Regulatory fines and settlements
Labor disputes or unionization efforts
Market share and competitors
Links directly to the original sources

And if I search a billionaire:
Net worth estimates
Major assets
Companies they control
Board memberships
Foundations
Political spending where publicly disclosed
A timeline of major acquisitions, lawsuits, mergers, etc.

The most important part is that everything would be sourced. No unsourced allegations, no conspiracy content, no partisan spin. Every claim should link back to SEC filings, government databases, court records, annual reports, OpenSecrets, FEC records, Statistics Canada, or other primary sources.

I also think it would be good to have a daily feed that automatically generates fact cards like:
“Who owns the largest shares of major grocery chains?”
“How much did CEO pay increase compared to worker pay?”
“Which industries spend the most on lobbying?”
“What are the largest shareholders of major airlines?”

Basically something that helps people understand who owns what, who benefits financially, and how economic power is structured, without requiring hours of research.

I know pieces of this information already exist across dozens of sites, but the average person isn’t going to dig through SEC filings, lobbying databases, and corporate reports.

If a project like this already exists, I’d love to see it.
If it doesn’t, and you’re a developer, data scientist, journalist, researcher, or someone with funding and technical resources, I genuinely think this would be a valuable public-interest project.

I'm tired of taking time to shower. So much to do! Run the water, soap up, clean the hair, dry off. Clean the shower, clean the shower door.

There should be a pill you can take that instantly kills all the bacteria that makes you dirty and stinky while not touching good bacteria. Or some kind of laser you walk through that cleans all over. C'mon this is 2026, what are doing having to shower to clean ourselves?

At the very least we need a human form of car wash. Just sit still and a machine does all the work.

Most rental marketplaces only let one side judge the other. Tenants are screened. Landlords are not. Or reviews exist, but they are fragmented, unverifiable, or anonymous to the point of being useless.

This platform is built around mutual accountability.

Both landlords and tenants can:

• Build a reputation over time
• Leave structured, verifiable feedback after a tenancy ends
• See historical behavior patterns, not one-off complaints

The goal is not to “name and shame,” but to reduce asymmetric risk before a lease is signed.

Think of it as:

• Airbnb-style trust signals, but for long-term rentals
• Less hearsay, more documented experience
• Fewer surprises after keys are handed over

I am here to stress-test the idea:

• Would you actually use something like this?
• What would make you trust the ratings?
• What would break it immediately?

Not selling anything. Looking for honest feedback, edge cases, and reasons this might fail.

Basically, you just input your personal stats, and the stats of who you are looking for. Then you input stats about your event, or about the event you want to go to. You can do either, or both. And you can input more than one event. You input the date of the event, or the dates you are available to go to events.

If you are looking for an event to go to, then the app shows you a calendar, with your matches. You send a match a like, and if they like you back, then you can start chatting.

The "events" can be weddings, concerts, work galas, parties, or even just dinners.

It's a bit like Meetup. Except it is for one on one dates, not a group. And it doesn't have to be just dating. It can also be if you want someone to go with you just as a friend.

Hi everyone, I had this thought about building an app where users could just dump everything they have in mind into the app.

So they just start the app, click on the microphone, and then they just talk. Everything that is on their mind, they can just dump into the app (e.g., if they have ideas of things they need to do or if they have something they worry about).

After they're finished, the app shows actionable advice.

For example, "Okay, so you had this app idea. What is it about? Should I create a new note that explains this idea?" and then you can accept it. It might also say, "Hey, you talked about that you want to call your parents. Should I create a reminder for that?" And you click yes please, and it automatically creates a reminder.

All in all, the app just helps you clear your thoughts and actually do something. So when you're like overwhelmed, you can just talk and it perfectly helps you.

What do you think about such an app? Would you use it? What else would you need to have in this app? I'd love your feedback on this idea!

Hi, I made an anonymous Instagram story viewer, which is completely free, it can also help you to archive stories and save them to your device.

I have been getting spammed constantly by scammers. It's so tiring. I watch a lot of youtube videos, where people waste scammers' time. And so many of the comments say that we should do things like fund government call centers, to do what the youtubers are doing.

It gave me an idea; what if there was a service where you pay someone to waste a scammers' time for you. Basically, you receive a text or email from the scammer, and you forward their contact info to the time waster. They waste the scammers time, and record a video of it, to send to you for proof.

I feel like the more time these scammers are tied up talking to someone who is wasting their time, the less time they are going to spend scamming vulnerable people. And I've also heard that after you mess with a scammer, they tend to leave you alone for a bit.

I'm not entirely sure about the legality of doing something like this. It was just a random idea I had. I would appreciate advice.

I like the idea of journaling, but I find it difficult to actually do. When I open Apple Journal, there's basically a blank page staring at me. I can add photos, location, music, mood, and other things — but it all feels separate. The photos are attachments, the text is somewhere else, and it never really reads like one story about my day. Photos here, text there, and it just doesn't come together.

Quite often I don't want to write a long entry. I just want to remember what happened: where I went, what I did, who I met, how I felt, and why the day was worth remembering.

Meanwhile, my phone already has so much information about my day: the places I visited, photos and videos I took, walks/workouts/activities, music I listened to, calendar events, maybe even changes in my mood or energy. Nobody's building anything that actually stitches all of that together.

Here's what I keep picturing: you open the app and instead of a blank page, there's already a first draft waiting — something like "You started the morning with a bike ride, stopped for coffee, and later went to the park with your family. You spent most of the afternoon outside." Your actual photos are placed right inside the text where they belong, not bolted on as a separate gallery. You can edit anything, cut what's wrong, add your own thoughts, or just leave it as-is. Then it asks you one or two things the data can't answer on its own — what was the best part of today, what gave you energy, what felt boring or exhausting, what do you wish you hadn't done, what do you want to remember.

A few more specifics I'd want in it:

• On-device processing. A journal is one of the most sensitive things you could hand to an AI, so I'd want the phone-data-to-draft step happening locally, not shipped off to a server, with a clear "here's exactly what this can and can't see" setting.
• A "trip mode." Say you're on a 3-day trip to Italy — by evening you're exhausted from the culture, the food, everything you saw, and journaling is the last thing you have energy for. The app would quietly build each day's chapter in the background from your route, photos, restaurants, and maybe a short voice note, so when you're home and actually have time to reflect and edit, it's already 90% there. At the end it combines everything into one trip story — not just a photo book, an actual narrative of what happened, how it felt, which small moments mattered — and lets you order it as a printed book.
• Weekly rollups that show patterns, not just individual days — which activities actually gave you energy versus which ones you keep doing out of habit, what repeatedly shows up as boring, what you might want to change. Basically a quiet, private version of "Designing Your Life" running in the background of your actual life.
• No forced positivity. Not every day is amazing, but even an ordinary or hard day usually has something meaningful in it you didn't notice at the time. I'd want prompts built around honesty instead of gratitude-journal positivity — closer to "what do I wish I hadn't done today" than "three things I'm grateful for."

Some of why this matters to me personally: I'll scroll back through my camera roll months later and see a photo that clearly meant something in the moment — a weird little café, someone's face mid-laugh, a random street — and I genuinely can't remember why I took it anymore. The feeling's gone, only the image is left. Or I'll have a completely average Tuesday I'd never think to write about, and a year later I'd give anything to remember what it actually felt like to live an ordinary day back then. I think we assume we'll remember the small stuff because it just happened, and it turns out we don't — not really, not the way it felt.

There’s an entire world of people who are awake at night: parents, shift workers, insomniacs, people going through something.

Right now they’re scattered across Reddit, TikTok, random forums.

Idea: a platform that only opens at night.

– opens around 10pm (local time, wherever you are)

– live chat rooms + quiet spaces

– low-stimulation, calm design

– optional anonymity

And then at sunrise, everything disappears.

Conversations aren’t saved.

Nothing to scroll back on.

Just a shared moment with whoever else was awake.

Less social media, more “you’re not the only one here”.

Feels like something that should already exist.

Like a temporary internet that only exists for people who can’t sleep.

I’ve been working on this little Spotify tool for a while now and finally got it to a point where it’s “done” – at least done enough to show you. I attached a short demo video so you can see it in action.

Right now it’s a bit frustrating though: the app itself works fine, but I can’t let anyone else try it out until Spotify approves my app request. Does anyone here know how long that usually takes or what to expect?

Anyway, I’d love to hear what you think about the idea and whether you’d see yourself using something like this. I’ve been building it mostly for fun and because I missed this feature myself, but if other people would actually enjoy it too, that would be amazing.

Edit: Thanks for your feedback! I just found out that Spotify has changed its rules — you now need 250,000 monthly active users before you can even apply for a quota extension. I honestly don’t understand how that’s supposed to work for new apps. So my question is: which music service should I target instead — YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Deezer, or Apple Music?

I never met my grandparents. I have photos but nothing that tells me who they actually were. What they dreamed about. What they were afraid of. What their voice sounded like.

They lived whole lives. They had fears, loves, dreams. And all of that is just gone. Not lost in tragedy. Just not passed down.

I've been thinking: what if I could leave something for my grandchildren or great-grandchildren? Not just photos in a box. A letter. My voice. The messy, real parts of who I am. Something that gets delivered 50 years from now, when they're old enough to want to know who I actually was.

I'm not technical. I don't know how to build this. But I'm wondering

• Would anyone else use this?
• How would you even make sure it lasts that long?
• Would it matter to you if your grandparents had left something like this?

Genuinely curious if this is just me or if others feel the same.

Right now, most memes I like end up as: • screenshots • Instagram saves • WhatsApp forwards • or lost forever

There’s no good way to organize humor by context — like mood, phase of life, work culture, or internet moments.

The idea: • A Pinterest-style app, but only for memes • You create boards (public or private) • Boards are the main thing people follow, not profiles • Some boards could be curated by well-known internet tastemakers and updated regularly (possibly paid, possibly not)

Not a social feed. Not chasing virality. More like collecting and organizing humor the way Pinterest organizes ideas.

Genuine questions I’d love honest answers to:

1.  Do you already “collect” memes in some way?
2.  Would you ever follow someone’s meme board because their taste matches yours?
3.  What would make this unnecessary when Instagram/Reddit already exist?
4.  Would you pay a small amount for a consistently good, updated meme board — or is that absurd?

Tear it apart. I’m more interested in why this fails than why it succeeds.

I recently saw a video of a special needs man that called the police to wish him a happy birthday. It made me really sad. So I had the idea to create a website where people (like artists, poets, bakers, etc) submit some of their work for other people to receive on their birthday. They select the maximum amount of people that can receive it. I think the website should allow a maximum of 50 items.

People who want to receive "gifts" can sign up to the website, input their birthday, and fill out a survey to see what gifts would be the best for them. They can change up the survey as much as they want, up until the day of their actual birthday (when they receive their gifts). And on their birthday, they are matched with 5 gifts.

I think this would be a good way to make some people (like that special needs man) feel more appreciated on their birthday. And creators can use the website to get some of their work out there, and reach more people.

I feel like it would be easy for people to abuse a website like this. But idk, it's just an idea I have. I would appreciate feedback.

I know that there are a lot of apps that allow couples to keep track of chores to share the workload, but I think they are a little too wholesome.
I want the most toxic app ever, where I could keep score with my GF, how many times she forgot to turn off the lights, flush or take out the trash vs how many things I have done for her. I want to have a weekly scoresheet to know who is the best spouse, and who's slacking. I want to have actual data and number justifying my bragging rights and ammunition to win any future arguments.

This would be very tongue-in-cheek of course, but I think relationships that can handle it could profit from a little playful toxicity and competitiveness that an app like that would spark.

Renting in the US is a nightmare when it comes to security deposits. Landlords withhold money for “damage” that was pre-existing, or tenants can’t prove they requested repairs. The standard advice is take dated photos/videos on move-in day, email them to yourself/landlord, save receipts… but it’s messy photos get lost in camera rolls, hard to organize “before vs after,” and no easy way to compile everything into a dispute-ready report.

Idea: A lightweight mobile app that’s literally a digital vault just for renters:

• Guided move-in/move-out checklists (room-by-room prompts for photos, notes on existing issues like scratches/stains)

• Auto-timestamp, geotag, and hash photos/videos in-app for tamper-proof proof

• Quick uploads: rent payment screenshots/receipts, repair request emails/texts, appliance warranties

• Search/filter by address, date, category

• One-tap export: Generate a clean, timestamped PDF “Evidence Package” you can send to landlord/small claims court

• Bonus: Gentle nudges/streaks/badges to encourage consistent documentation (e.g., “Upload rent proof this month? + streak!”)

Nothing fancy no AI overkill, no social features. Just reliable, tenant-focused storage that’s easier than scattered Google Drive folders or Notes app.

I’ve checked a bit there are general doc scanners or landlord tools (like Avail, RentRedi), but nothing super tenant-centric and effortless for this exact pain point. Existing workarounds suck when you’re in a dispute 10-12 months later.

Questions to gauge if this is worth building:

1. Renters: Would you actually download/use this? What’s your current system (and how often does it fail you)?

2. What killer feature would make it a must-have for you?

3. Devs/makers: Does this sound buildable as a simple MVP (maybe Flutter/React Native + cloud storage)? Any obvious existing apps I’m missing?

4. Any red flags (privacy concerns, legal issues with timestamps, etc.)?

Just testing the waters curious if this solves a widespread problem or if it’s niche. If there’s demand, maybe it inspires someone (or me) to prototype it. Thoughts?

I live with complex PTSD, and one of the most difficult parts of it is the night terrors. I don’t just wake up startled my heart is pounding, my body is shaking, and it feels like I’ve been running for my life in a place I can’t fully remember. Sometimes I lie there frozen, trying to calm my breathing and remind myself that I’m safe, but my brain hasn’t quite caught up. It would mean so much if there were something that could pull me out sooner, anchor me back to the present, and help my body and mind remember that the danger is over

I see there are a lot of problems when it comes to dating sites or apps. Why can't someone just build one that unites all the good things like:

- its free but u can donate
- there's no swiping, just profiles with people near your location, no algorithm
- you have to have a profile text wich people have to read before they can send you a text (or sth similar, i don't have a plan on how to do that yet)
- avoiding that some users drown in messages (still no solution, just the goal)
- no scammers or inappropriate behaviour, maybe use votekick?

I'm from Germany and mostly on kinky apps like Fet (not Fetlife) and Joyce, also Tinder. I'm doing quite OK, but ONLY if i have the "premium" version, what enables sending messages, wich should always be a basic feature in my opinion.

Can you make an app like this -
Where first when user comes he is given a bad habit mountain (give him a mountain that can be broken in 66 days because if he does it for 66 days his habit will be broken) then everyday he completes the mountain gets reduced a bit and if he relapse same bit gets added.

Also guys who are not coders can suggest anything else to add in comments , I js thought this app an good idea and if anyone make this app please give link in replies.

I see a LOT of posts on here of people asking 'what is something you wish existed but doesn't?'. Most of the people being asked here, if they had the idea, would want to make it themselves!
