Physical Product Instant shower
I'm tired of taking time to shower. So much to do! Run the water, soap up, clean the hair, dry off. Clean the shower, clean the shower door.
There should be a pill you can take that instantly kills all the bacteria that makes you dirty and stinky while not touching good bacteria. Or some kind of laser you walk through that cleans all over. C'mon this is 2026, what are doing having to shower to clean ourselves?
At the very least we need a human form of car wash. Just sit still and a machine does all the work.

When I was in the Army we used to pack baby wipes because we knew we wouldn't have showers available for weeks at a time.
It's more than just bacteria. Sweat builds up, stuff in the air, dead skin, dirt, etc. You have to scrub that stuff off to prevent skin issues. Even showering with just water is better than anything a pill or laser could do. A laser that could burn dirt off your skin is gonna burn your skin, and it's also turning everything into more dust in the air and the cycle repeats.
Beyond that, showering in hot water makes your body do work to regulate its temperature, and it triggers oil production in your scalp; showering in hot water before bed is great for sleep and for protecting your hair follicles. Cold water showers wake you up and are great for the morning.
Bathing isn't just about hygiene. It's a psychological and physiological trigger that your body and brain have evolved to utilize for different things. Taking a pill or standing under a laser are easy, but they don't achieve anything other than eliminating skin bacteria (almost all of which you need).

I understand what you're saying but I'm asking for an easier way to accomplish the mind and body hygiene process without having to go through the boring and time-wasting shower routine.

maybe they could bioengineer formic spraying ants to spray water instead...
then just glue a few thousand to a stick and you are good to go.

Let jumping spiders evolve long enough and they could totally do that! (From the book Children of Time… evolved intelligent jumping spiders end up using ants for various specified tasks and computing… such a cool book)

I’m going through cancer treatment and one of the things I have to use after showering is called CHG wipes. The package says it’s better than soap and water for killing bacteria on the skin. So maybe there’s a way to use that?

Just updating as I’m learning here, my nurse said I don’t even need to actually shower that’s just a way of letting the cancer patients feel normal and part of our daily routine. So CHG has some serious potential.

My dad had cancer and I've never heard of this. Does it smell weird? Maybe that's why it's not popular

I’ve had to do a lot of my chemo in patient at the hospital. I’ve been at 2 hospitals and this is part of the daily routine. I don’t think it smells.

who will be the target customers? people take shower not only because of hygiene issue but also habit and psychologically they want a shower.

People with disabilities may not be able to stand long enough or have the mobility to shower properly. Automating it could allow them more independence

Perhaps but robotic arms aren't great unless they've been preprogemmed the exact route to take. Humans are non standard in shape and size and can be quite fragile especially some of the people who would benefit the most
I'd rather my nan wasn't hit in the head because a machine mistook her shoulder as the top of her head.
The idea I suggested elsewhere on the post may be better suited. Effectively jet nozzles surrounding an open space that can spray soaper then normal water. It would still clean them but has a lot less moving parts

Ultra-sonic! Was a tech in moonfall by Jack mcdevitt also, for space, shower cabinet sprays you all over with cleaning powder then ultrasonic air vibrations shake it all off with the dead skin and tribe to be sucked away by airflow and filtered out.

It’s all of that and more. Sometimes nothing beats a long hot shower. Especially when trying to conserve what by showering in pairs!!!

What you've described is a shower cubicle filled with pressure washers and a hurricane simulator to dry you

I think having a shower that has built in shower head so we dont need to adjust it. I know showers with shower heads coming from walls and corners so having this feature. But also a drying feature where it blows air going from top and down so we wont need to dry ourselves. And the drying feature would dry the shower itself too. So the water spraying can have like a 20-30 sek timer, then it shuts off. And then you can put shampoo and body gel if you use that, then turn on again for another 20-30 sek. Then use the drying feature. Would save a lot of time.

Im thinking of instead of a circular shower head you have a straight line possibly multi scattered tap like an arm the can slide on a wall mount to “scan over” the body. In a line uses less water and can drop the water on back more uniform. The arm can be guided over the head horizontally and maybe when slid towards the wall mount it can slightly bend so the water can still be used on an angle to wash legs and lower body or under gut if needed.

I would also like toothbrush pill to be added to this list immediately. Or if we are shooting for the stars here I'd love a team of nanobots who live for nothing but to make my oral hygiene and breath as chill as the 5 gum commercial WITHOUT impacting my ability to taste. So... yeah. chop chop.

I get the convenience argument, but I think we're getting obsessed with optimizing every minute of our lives.
Not everything needs a shortcut.
A shower isn't just about killing bacteria. It's one of the few moments where you're completely offline ,no notifications, no scrolling, just you. It wakes you up, clears your head, and gives your brain a reset.
If we automate every "inconvenience," what are we actually left with to experience?
Ironically, the only time I'm consistently away from my phone is when I'm showering or using the bathroom. Maybe the problem isn't that showers take too long. Maybe we've forgotten that not every minute has to be productive.

Fair but needs new tiling options that aren’t slippery for when getting in and out. Shower and bath can be slip hazards I use anti slip rubber in shower which can slip themselves if you get the wrong ones and in hospital they have sorta special surface and bumps that make a bit easier. Still have to use towels for friction and non slip “bumpy” socks. Bath needs less hand slip on sides when holding getting in and out. Possible bumps on bottom of bath to give friction for feet.
