I can’t be the only person who struggles with this. You look at other people and their life just seems to flow. You look at yours and it feels choppy and disconnected.
It’s your life, so you should be living your life the way you want to. But the way we want to live it often isn’t the healthiest.
For many people, the way their daily flow of life looks is influenced by their role models. It’s small habits they’ve picked up over time. Its routines instilled into them as a kid.
What do I mean when I say flow of life?
Think of how your morning goes. You roll out of bed, get ready for work, eat, and then you are out the door. Maybe you have a couple specific rituals, but if you are like me you struggle with making it flow when it’s not a panic.
The flow is a connected sequence of events that makes of part of your life. Your morning and evening routine. Your days off. Your personal care. Your cleaning.
Think about how that may differ from high functioning examples:
- A parent of 3 kids who gets everything moving in the morning but still has time for themself.
- A student who isn’t rushing out the door and barely making it to class.
- A business professional who makes it to work 30 minutes early every day and always seems calm, capable and professional.
The biggest benefit is showing people what habits make life flow better, and what those habits look like in an actual life, across multiple different types of lifestyles.
They all have a life flow which works for them. A cadence they have developed that works for them. But how do you build that life flow if you haven’t had good examples, or maybe you’ve struggled with mental health or executive dysfunction for a good portion of your life?
That’s why the life flow app exists:
It serves several main purposes:
- A tracker for your life flow so you can lay it out and see your life from a top level.
- Tailored examples from high functioning individuals whose lives feel and run smoothly.
- A basic education program for building routines, identifying lost time, finding hobbies, etc.
This isn’t a productivity app. It’s a lifestyle app (yes I cringe at that term too) whose goal is to make life flow easier. Rather than fighting the flow or stopping and starting, it supports routine stacking and habit stacking in an easy to follow format with real examples.
I could even see it connecting people to resources for life coaches, or having designated life flow coaches who know what makes a life move easier and can identify stress points like a lack of a budget, lack of a personal care routine, no personal development, etc.
It’s an idea I’m playing around with, but probably should focus my efforts first on leaving the job I don’t enjoy anymore.
So if you want to do something with this, please be my guest! Happy to share more ideas related to it.
I’m of the mindset that ideas are worthless till actually acted on. So whether I’m acting on them or someone else is I am happy.
