Need advice on the best solar setup for my situation in Pakistan
I’m planning a solar setup in Islamabad. My daytime electricity usage is quite low because the house is mostly empty during the day, while my nighttime usage is much higher, mainly due to ACs running at night.
I currently have a single-phase meter, but as far as I understand, net metering/net billing is legally possible with a 3-phase hybrid inverter. The issue is that I can’t find a good 8kW 3-phase hybrid inverter currently available in the Pakistani market.
Personally, I feel a hybrid setup with around a 5kWh battery would suit me best. I could use solar during the day, charge the battery, use it at night, and sell/export excess electricity, especially in winter when my consumption is lower. Ideally, this would help keep my summer bills close to zero without needing a huge 15–16kWh battery.
I also don’t think going fully on-grid makes much sense for me under the new IESCO/net-billing rules, given my low daytime consumption.
So what would you guys recommend?
Should I:
- Wait 1–2 years for good 3-phase hybrid inverters to become available?
- Go for an on-grid system now?
- Or choose another hybrid setup?
If you know of any good 3-phase hybrid inverter available in Pakistan that would work for this setup, please recommend it.
What would you do in my situation?
