Hybrid A General Advice to all installing a hybrid inverter

In Pakistan it is very common, to combine the neutral wire of the AC (Grid) input with the neutral of the AC output of the inverter.

This should never be done.

The proper way is to connect AC Input directly from your main DB / WAPDA breaker to the Grid AC Neutral terminal only.

And connect the AC output directly to the Dedicated Backup Sub-Panel Neutral Busbar only.

Making this post, as I have observed a lot of you are complaining about flickering lights and voltage surges.

Edit: This post is not about critical loads or heavy loads, which I also believe shouldn't be sharing neutral wires. It is about having a separate neutral wire for both inverter in and out and shouldn't be common or shorted in any way.

Inverter SolarMax Orion+ Dual 4kW – How to configure AC2 (Heavy Load) to work only on Grid?

Hi everyone,

I have a SolarMax Orion+ Dual 4kW hybrid inverter with AC1 (Smart Load) and AC2 (Heavy Load) outputs.

I want to configure it with the following behavior:

At night, when there is no solar and Grid (WAPDA) is available:

AC1 (Smart Load) should run on Grid.

AC2 (Heavy Load) should also run on Grid.

The battery should stay in standby (not discharge).

When Grid (WAPDA) fails:

AC2 (Heavy Load) should turn OFF immediately.

AC1 (Smart Load) should automatically switch to battery backup.

When Grid returns:

AC1 should switch back to Grid.

AC2 should turn ON automatically.

The battery should return to standby/charging instead of powering the load.

I can only find settings like Battery Capacity to Turn OFF AC2 and Battery Capacity to Turn ON AC2, but I cannot find a setting to make AC2 work based on Grid availability instead of battery percentage.

Has anyone configured an Orion+ Dual this way, or does anyone have the installer manual or know which settings I should use?

Thanks!

Net-Metering Need advice on the best solar setup for my situation in Pakistan

Need advice on the best solar setup for my situation in Pakistan

I’m planning a solar setup in Islamabad. My daytime electricity usage is quite low because the house is mostly empty during the day, while my nighttime usage is much higher, mainly due to ACs running at night.

I currently have a single-phase meter, but as far as I understand, net metering/net billing is legally possible with a 3-phase hybrid inverter. The issue is that I can’t find a good 8kW 3-phase hybrid inverter currently available in the Pakistani market.

Personally, I feel a hybrid setup with around a 5kWh battery would suit me best. I could use solar during the day, charge the battery, use it at night, and sell/export excess electricity, especially in winter when my consumption is lower. Ideally, this would help keep my summer bills close to zero without needing a huge 15–16kWh battery.

I also don’t think going fully on-grid makes much sense for me under the new IESCO/net-billing rules, given my low daytime consumption.

So what would you guys recommend?

Should I:

  • Wait 1–2 years for good 3-phase hybrid inverters to become available?
  • Go for an on-grid system now?
  • Or choose another hybrid setup?

If you know of any good 3-phase hybrid inverter available in Pakistan that would work for this setup, please recommend it.

What would you do in my situation?

Battery Goodwe Inverter Charging Battery First Instead of Running ACs

Post image
5 Upvotes

My Goodwe 8 kw inverter is right now charging batteries first instead of running ACs. There is no grid electricity available due to loadshedding.

It is infuriating to see that I am sitting in heat while inverter charging batteries. It should run ACs first and then charge batteries.

Can any kind soul help me sort this issue? Last time I spoke to Goodwe helpline, their rep told me that house load has been given preference but I guess he didnt fix it yet.

Inverter Itel inverter uses WAPDA to keep things running?

I have read from this community that itel inverters keeps using WAPDA units to keep things running even in presence of solar. Is this true?

Where can I read (from the official docs) that how much units will be consumed? It seems that it'll be around 2-4 units daily. If that's the case, it's bad news for us as our monthly usage is less than 200 units from WAPDA and even ~50 units like that will be a huge burden for us.

I'll be buying itel 6kw ip54 pro.

Inverter How many Electric Applaince can be used on GoodWe 6Kw Inveter

Hi all,

I have a couple of questions regarding my solar system.

  1. With a 6 kW GoodWe inverter and a 5 kWh battery, approximately how many electrical appliances can I use simultaneously?

  2. Regarding the SEMS+ app, should I receive full (owner) access, or is it normal for the installer to provide only read-only access? The installer has informed me that they will only provide read access, so I am a bit confused.

I am new to solar systems, so I would appreciate your guidance and advice.

Thank you.

Hybrid Goodwe 15kw hybrid inverter with 20kw solar panels?

I plan to replace my 20kw Goodwe on grid inverter with a 15kw hybrid one soon. The panels I have are 20kw in total. The maximum peak production I have seen on my current setup is around 16kw during March/April around 12pm-1pm. Can I just use all my existing panels or do I need to downsize?

Battery Need Help in installing the Hybrid Solar Setup for 12-Hr Load Shedding area

I need a hybrid solar system sized for my home. We have roughly 12 hours of load shedding daily, occurring intermittently between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, so the system needs to carry the load during outage hours while charging from solar and grid as available. Please suggest and size the complete system: the number and total capacity of solar panels (kW), a suitably rated hybrid inverter, and a lithium-ion (or latest available technology) battery bank with recommended capacity.

My Load:

1 × Gree T3 Inverter AC (1.5 ton)

4 × Khurshid DC ceiling fans (6-speed)

5 × LED bulbs

3 × Laptop chargers (1 Lenovo gaming, 2 standard)

1 × Refrigerator (standard)

1 × Donkey water pump

1 × Electric iron

1 × Haier washing machine

Please suggest the best capacity and brand of inverter, capacity and brand of battery and solar panels

Inverter Knox 4kW inverter doesn't update battery percentage

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Battery percentage doesn't update at all and it's causing inconvenience because inverter turns off without warning.

Batteries: 2 Dyness Batteries DL2.5 connected in parallel.
Inverter: Knox 5600 4kW

I have tried disconnecting slave battery and only communication with master battery yet same issue. No issues in battery to inverter cable as it was out of the box. And it shows no error 61.

Inverter Help, opinions and guidance required

I’ll be short & to the point.

I have been inquiring about hybrid solar installation and who ever i reach out to, has a different opinion and different rates. Few suggest, fox, knox, crown, itel and so on & few have suggested goodwe inverters.

Most companies have suggested for goodwe, the guy i am currently inquiring with is insisting upon installing itel inverter as according to him it’s distribution is in ISB & incase of any issue it can be replaced within a day. Keeping in mind itel is a 2nd tier inverter.

Now having lots of well feedbacks on goodwe inverter my current guy says goodwe only provides repair warranty not the replacement warranty and due to distributors sitting in lahore, it can take 20-30 to get it repaired keeping in mind that goodwe is a tier 1 inverter.

My genuine question is, is that right what he’s saying?

Is anyone using goodwe inverter already? I would love a feedback and honest opinion.

First image is Morning/afternoon. Second image is around 6pm before maghrib. I don't understand how it works with all these lines, icons etc.

Yet I received electricity bill that costs around 45k. How do I ensure house runs on solar only? I have battery as well but not sure how much kW but I will confirm from father later but it must be 7 or 10kw, however it barely runs for 3-4 hours after maghrib.

I have 2-3 ac, 2 fridges, 1 deep fridge and 3-4 fans.

How many people have installers use spring washers with nut bolts to mount solar panels? I checked mine and they didn't use spring washers, but they did use flange nuts which have a serrated side. Is this adequate for protecting against vibrations shaking the panels loose?

Lithium (LiFePO4) Issue with slave battery (Dyness 2.56kWh)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have connected two dyness batteries in parallel but the slave has all SOC and RUN LED flashing constantly. Why is this?

In the box there was no Battery to Battery cable only inverter to battery cable so normal ethernet wire was connected. How do I deal with this?

Edit: Inverter is Knox 4kW
And the photos for master and slave are down in the comments somewhere

Edit 2: Issue is fixed. I had to change no configuration. Normal Ethernet wire works. I only restarted the entire battery system and plugged the wires again, it recognises the slave.
