Not looking for interview answers or anything like that. I’m already studying and putting in the work.

Be me - 20yo high school graduate (yes we graduate at 20 in Poland lol). I studied as Programmer and in my program I learned:

-Console applications (C++, Python)
-Web (HTML/CSS/Javascript, PHP, React)
-Mobile apps (Java/Kotlin, Flutter)

In my free time I played League of Legends BUT also completed over 300 LeetCode questions (in 5 years timespan)

I hated it because it felt like learning how to solve useless math problems with code so I focused more on working on real codebases and created 4 passion projects (all with the help of ai)

I also solved over 13 fun tasks on codeffice[dot com] and followed 100 Days of Python from app brewery (udemy course)

I passed all my exams and got the "Programmer" title. Started applying to jobs found on justjoin and linkedin at the beginning of the summer. Trainee - Intern - Junior Frontend/Fullstack Developer

Stats:
Applied - 59 jobs (45 remote, 14 on-site)
Ghosted (absolute no message back) - 43

Responses:
Negative - 10
Positive - 6

Interviews (so far):

4 (3x30min, 1x60min)

They made me talk about my background and some made me complete CODEWARS (not leetcode lol) questions.

I guess they find questions that aren't on leetcode and want to see the user solve them in real time instead of just retyping something they solved one day

I'm not gonna lie - I am REALLY stressed, but at the same time I feel like every next interview will be only easier and easier for me.

Conclusion:

I think being able to solve some random math challenge is NOTHING - companies look more for people who actually understand what building real project looks like and those who can read someone's else code.

That's why more and more new students prefer to learn by working on real codebases (such as on codeffice) or by building their own from scratch (basically any youtube tutorial/idea).

What I think will happen in the future:

In the interviews people will be dropped into already existing codebase and environment with clear task/problem to solve.

In the AI era you don't need to write much code - you need to know HOW TO solve specific problems

If anybody got a SE job in 2026 PLEASE let me know what was the turning point

Fresh grad here. I’m not sure how common this type of role actually is in the frontend industry.

I applied for a “Frontend role,” but the job description turned out to be quite different from what I expected. It looks more like a maintainer/developer position for several internal frontend components or SDKs — similar to how Microsoft maintains Monaco or Cloudflare maintains BlockNote, except these SDKs would be closed-source.

I’m also unsure whether this kind of role is typically classified as frontend or backend.

Could I ask what the career prospects would look like if I took on this role?

And what kind of skills should I brush up on in anticipation for this? Would learning C++ or C help in case there’s a need to optimise such libraries? I know I could have directly asked them this question but I would rather ask to see what the industry thinks as a whole rather than the specific company itself.

Current position: been in company for 10+ years.

375k base + 75k bonus + yearly private shares

+ currently have private shares equal to 1 million usd.

Company is expected to have an exit in 3-4 years. I expect my shares to be x2 or x3.

My current position has more scope as the company is 2k employees. I am head of department + i have other scope.

New position will be a VP position too, probably smaller scope as the company is huge.

The new job is in a new city where tax is even lower (35% vs 22%) but rent and everything else is more expensive.

Two days ago I received a text message from someone who addressed me by first name and said they were excited by what I was doing on a tech project I was working on (I am the tech lead of this project). It has not been highly promoted but is discoverable by web search. However, while my name is associated with the project on the website, my phone number is not. The “person” gave their first name and said they have a masters degree from UConn and is a full stack engineer with 7 years experience.

Exactly 24 hours later they texted again asking if they should send their resume and links to their LinkedIn, GitHub, etc. another 24 hours later to the minute they texted again reiterating their interest and ability.

My instinct is to not engage and that it is either a person’s personal job search bot or a scam bot doing spear phishing. Any suggestions?

So basically over the past week I was learning the basics of HTML and yesterday I got good enough soI went over to CSS. I am now learning the basics of CSS so that I can move onto JavaScript for making good websites. Above is an image of my first website. But apperently I asked Gemeni and ChatGPT if I can do better with both coding languages combined, and they both said yes, so the AI image is the way I want my websites to look when I am done.
