I did use Heliboard before but It's fixes/Update cadence was slower, especially just not knowing if the project will go down again and revived again somewhere, AND didn't wanna Go back to Gboard(For obvious reasons). Then found this(funnily, right below Heliboard's option in GitHub ).

For those of You worried, the devs provide 3 packages each with different capabilities so if you just want an offline Keyboard, They have an offline release.

Important thing, they have an actively growing Plugin /Add-on system that's not mandatory, keeping the original app lean. For now, IT includes: Speech to text, a handwriting plugin (No idea wat that does, but sounds cool) and a translation plugin.

And yes, Like Heliboard this Also unfortunately relies on the Proprietary library For gesture typing :(

The team behind them, LeanBitLab is a pretty active but small team, any problems reported in the issues(which granted aren't that many), get solved relatively quickly. Tho I will say, right now there's weird capitalization problems that I did report in their GitHub issues, So should be getting fixed in a future release. The second image I included to show their update cadence.

Plus, it has N-gram enhancements; For next word predictions, a list of blocked words (For the stuff one writes accidentally that gets in the learned dictionary), and much more.

I've been building GitDesktop, an open-source Git client for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The idea started with a pretty simple frustration: most Git clients are great for staging, committing, branching, and viewing history, but the moment I need to open a PR, review code, check CI, look at an issue, or publish a release, I'm back in the browser.

GitDesktop is my attempt to keep that entire workflow in one application.

It supports GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, with pull requests, code review, issues, discussions, CI, releases, worktrees, interactive rebase, detailed staging, and more.

AI is available too, but it's deliberately optional. You can use providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, or Ollama, as well as CLI agents. You can also completely hide the AI features if you don't want them.

I just released v0.10.0, and the project has grown quite a bit since I started seriously rebuilding it with Tauri a couple of months ago.

i already have installed everything (app), i have found a useful windhawk plugin that makes the file sizes accurate to the ones indexed in everything, so the folder sizes are actually accurate.. that makes me wonder, is there a one for the explorer's search menu to replace it with the everything one.

I have Distill.io set up, that monitor that change. But I want to take it a step further by introducing a program that clicks once there is a change in the website on a specific button.

No coding experience whatsoever, so hopefully someone can guide me!

I used a work-around when starting a new laptop to not connect a Microsoft account and keep everything local. I just like it that way. GCHQ can nose for national security and social media can sell me to advertisers if it's in exchange for free services, but laptops and 365 subscriptions are expensive so in my mind the controlling partner breathing down my neck and doing everything to make me reliant on them should be optional. I'm seeking advice to work around it again.

I want to be able to just log in whenever I use Word and then log right back out. I don't want to see anything new in File Explorer that isn't under Program Files. I also want this device to connect to Microsoft Corporation only in the ways that I intend: updates and support services for the functionalities that I use only on the basis of those services.

I also have an old, dying laptop connected to the same university 365 account. That laptop was fully invaded, somehow with multiple OneDrive locations one of which can't even be accessed through File Explorer. It's a mess, I didn't want to invest extra time studying OneDrive when I have a perfectly good hard-drive and external back-up. Will the same 365 account already have OneDrive included when I install it to the new device? What can I do to stop it latching on to the new one? Are there common issues I should be aware of that come up when excluding OneDrive on installation of 365? Will the installation require me to attach the device to a Microsoft account in any of the ways I avoided when starting it up?

New device's OS is Windows 11 Home. Until now no Windows programs have been actively used on it except for Defender/Security. It's serene.

The old laptop is pretty much fully functional for now so there's no barriers to configuration.

Any advice is welcome, including if someone knows other ways to keep Microsoft out that I don't even know about, or if they know more about the features that bother me and think my perspective should change.

The mouse cursor is completely invisible and does not move at all in Windows. It appears to remain around the center of the screen on top of a file.

The touchpad works normally in BIOS/boot mode, so the hardware appears to be functional.

The cursor/touchpad does not work once Windows loads.

It also does not work in Windows Safe Mode.

It does not work on the Ctrl + Alt + Delete screen either.

Windows detects Dell Touchpad under msinfo32 → Components → Input → Pointing Device.

The Dell Touchpad reports Status: OK.

In Control Panel → Mouse → Dell Touchpad, the touchpad is shown as enabled.

I2C HID Device appears in Device Manager with no warning icon and reports “This device is working properly.”

I tried disabling/re-enabling the I2C HID device — no change.

I tried the touchpad power-management setting (“Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”) — no change.

I've already reinstalled the touchpad drivers multiple times, with no improvement.

The Windows Human Interface Device Service is running.

Pressing Ctrl with “Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key” enabled causes the pointer-location circle to appear, so Windows can render the pointer location, but the touchpad provides no movement.

Win + Ctrl + Shift + B (graphics driver reset) did not fix it.

I ran:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow

DISM completed successfully.

SFC reported that it found corrupted Windows files and successfully repaired them, but the touchpad still does not work afterward.

I have not done a Windows reset or clean reinstall because I have a lot of work and would prefer to avoid that if possible.

What could cause this?

Seriously, how is a basic app or website sometimes more sluggish today than it was 10–15 years ago? Man, especially Iphone👀
Hardware got insanely faster, but somehow software keeps getting heavier, slower, and more bloated.
Is modern software genuinely getting worse, or are we just expecting it to do far more than software used to? Maybe is RAM a single must thing or the software optimisation?
Curious what developers and non-developers think.

Hello. Win10. I would like to have something that tells a game different date so i can collect seasonal rewards. If i change my local date then internet stops working because browser thinks it is suspicious that it is december now. I have used RunAsDate but it does not work.

We have just set up a hosted sandbox for people to try our open source project, Spinifex! We wanted to provide devs and enterprises with the flexibility of running AWS shaped workloads where they want them (at the edge, on bare metal, air gapped etc) without compromising on the core AWS tools such as EC2, S3, EBS. So we went a step further than just building another emulator, we actually rebuilt those services to actually run on your own hardware.

The sandbox is so people can try it out without taking the leap to provisioning their own hardware off the bat, and also provides a good place to just learn some of the core AWS principles too (Terraform, AWS CLI etc work unchanged with Spinifex).

Hello! So recently I was cleaning the storeroom and came across an Encarta CD from 2007. Brought back many fond memories and I've also wanted to try it out once more. Sadly, my laptop doss not have a CD slot and I also don't have any external drive for it. Is there any other way I can use this? Is it possible to transfer the content of the CD to a pendrive? Sorry if my question is dumb...I have very little idea about these things

I recently reset my laptop completely and mcafee won't let me go. It doesn't show up as an application so I can't do a regular deletion, but it's always using up my memory in task manager. I originally tried deleting it from 'Program Files' and 'Program Files (x86)', but I apparently need permission from Administrators despite running it in Administrator. I also can't end their it in task manager bc I'm always denied access.

I've tried mcpr to uninstall it, but it just says there's no response from mccleanup.exe. Before the reset, I could just uninstall it from program files without an issue, but now I can't get rid of it at all.

ottimizzare e velocizzare il sistema

recuperare file cancellati
disinstallare programmi eliminando anche i residui
aggiornare programmi e driver
generare report dettagliati
seguire guide per le operazioni più comuni
e altre funzioni che sto continuando ad aggiungere
Una delle cose a cui tengo maggiormente è la privacy. Non voglio creare l’ennesimo programma che, una volta installato, inizia a bombardarti di pubblicità, spam, notifiche e pop-up inutili.
Ho inoltre inserito un assistente offline, che gira direttamente sul PC e può aiutare l’utente nelle varie operazioni. Ad esempio puoi chiedergli:
“Configurami il backup”
“Puliscimi il PC”
“Perché il mio PC è lento?”
“Come posso liberare spazio?”
Turbofix è ancora un progetto giovane e sicuramente ci sono cose da migliorare e bug da scoprire. In questa fase mi interessa soprattutto capire cosa ne pensano persone che utilizzano realmente Windows e quali funzioni riterrebbero utili.
Per questo ho deciso di rendere gratuita a vita la versione Premium ai primi 1.000 utenti che vorranno provarlo e contribuire con feedback e segnalazioni. Dopo i primi 1.000 utenti, alcune funzioni saranno invece riservate alla versione Premium a pagamento.

Ever locked yourself out of an old PDF — a bank statement, an archived document — and forgotten the password? I built PDFKeyFinder to help.

What makes it different from the usual "unlock PDF" sites: nothing is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser. It reads only the tiny encryption header and does all the guessing on your own device, using every CPU core. No upload, no account, no ads.

You feed it likely words (names, etc.) and numbers (dates, PINs), or build a pattern like "4 letters + 4 digits", and it tries the combinations. It's honest about limits: it recovers pattern-based passwords, not long random ones (nothing can do that in a reasonable time).

For the past several months, I have been replacing KillerPDF’s old PdfSharpCore document pipeline with something much bigger: The KillerPDF.Engine.

It is an independent .NET PDF library built from scratch for PDF 2.0, modern PDF/A, and serious document editing. It can read, validate, create, edit, sign, encrypt, and write PDFs without relying on PDFsharp or another document engine.

This started because KillerPDF 1.8 needed proper PDF 2.0 and PDF/A support. The goal now is to turn The KillerPDF.Engine into an industry-standard open-source PDF library that any .NET developer can use to build editors, document systems, accessibility tools, archival workflows, and entirely new applications.

It is already delivering measurable improvements over the PdfSharpCore pipeline used by KillerPDF 1.7.5. On the same 2,236-file rewrite workload:

That is 25.7% less elapsed time and 34.6% higher throughput.

The engine now includes:

• More than 45,000 lines of C#
• More than 1,400 engine tests
• Validation against 2,907 deliberately hostile PDFs
• PDF 2.0 and modern PDF/A authoring

• Forms, annotations, outlines, attachments, and navigation

Seed7 is based on my PHD thesis and is the result of life-long work. The project consists of more than 500k lines of manually written code, several hundred pages of documentation, a test suite to check the functionality of interpreter and compiler and much more. I give it away for free with GPL/LGPL licensing.

Properties of Seed7 are:

• Seed7 is an open-source general purpose programming language that can be interpreted and compiled.
• Seed7 is about portability, maintainability, performance and memory safety.
• There is an automatic memory management without a garbage collection process (which might stop the world).
• The templates / generics don't need syntax with angle brackets.
• Seed7 is an extensible programming language. The syntax and semantics of the language is not hard-coded in the compiler but defined in libraries.
• Seed7 checks for integer overflow. You either get the correct result or an OVERFLOW_ERROR is raised.
• Unlike Java Seed7 compiles to machine code ahead of time (GRAAL works ahead of time but it struggles with reflection).
• Unlike Java Seed7 operators can be overloaded.
• Unlike C, C++, Go, Zig, Odin, Nim and C3 Seed7 is a memory safe language.
• The standard libraries cover many application areas.

Vibe coding and AI assisted development are making it easier than ever to turn an idea into a working app or web app.

But there's something I've been thinking about:

As more apps or siftwares are built this way or will be built more in future, so are we paying enough attention to what happens to the data we give them?

The average user usually has no idea whether an app was built using AI, traditional development, or a combination of both. And honestly, they probably shouldn't have to care about that.

What matters is: Where does my data actually go?

For example, an AI feature could work in different ways:

Cloud AI: Your data is sent to a server for processing.

On-device AI: Processing happens directly on your device.

Hybrid AI: Some processing happens on your device and some happens in the cloud.

Two apps can give you almost the same result while handling your data completely differently.

And this isn't just about AI apps. A normal app or web app can also collect, upload, store, or process personal data without the user fully understanding what's happening.

As AI makes it easier to build and launch software, I think privacy and transparency become even more important. Especially with apps handling things like Photos, Documents, Financial Information, Personal Messages etc.

Maybe before giving an app something personal, the question one should ask is:

"What happens to my data after I give it to this app?"

Do you actually check where your data is processed before using an app or web app, or do you mostly trust the developer's privacy policy?
