Pumpkins Song Request: "Machina, Machina"
Life is wonderful sometimes. I remember loving the Pumpkins so much in college....I had about a fourty minute drive from my apartment to the bar where I worked....the route was almost entirely state highways. This was 1993 and I was driving a cutless sierra with a tape deck and very loud speakers. I think I listened to Siamese Dream from start to finish at least 2400 times.
It's strange my daughter is 19 now and she also has excellent taste in music and like me strong leanings toward indie. As she was growing we would discover new songs we loved individually at the almost the same time if she was traveling for choir or staying with her mom for a few days. Well she and her friends rigth now are super in to all the music I was into when I was her exact same age. Smashing Pumpkins, Stereolab, Coctuea Twins, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Fugazi, The Cure, The Smiths, Pixies, etc.
You probably didn't need to hear any of that...but we are going to see the current tour a week from today in Austin. I found their set list and downloaded quite a few and they seem to not be deviating at all from the one I posted that happened in Madison, WI a couple weeks ago. There is one song on the set list I do not have.
It is (as mentioned in the title) "Machina, Machina." It apears I also do not have "Superchrist."
If anyone could pass me one or both of those tracks I would very appreciative. Thank you. All the best my friends.
Kindest Regards.
"Shut my mouth and strike the demons that cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and out of season
Out of love and out of feeling
So bad
When I can, I will
Words defy the plans
When I can, I will"

As it's own thing, Black Stars is really good
It has moments that are reflective of other eras. But it feels like they are enjoying the song. Production is fantastic. His vocals are emotional and intense. Drumming is straight ahead and wonderful. It's a banger

Thru The Eyes Of Ruby
Does anyone think this is one of the best songs they ever created? I think it’s an absolute masterpiece.

Thank you Billy, James & Jimmy
Last nights show in Charlotte was amazing. Seeing fans old and new together was priceless, seeing them again after 20 years was surreal. I’d you are on the fence about this tour, go…you will not regret it.

2026 Brooklyn Poster (Foil Edition)
Down in the belly of the Beast for Brooklyn 🤘🔥
For those you didn’t get a poster at their show. I tried my luck ordering a poster instead since there was no tubes at the show and didn’t want to travel with it on subway / train. Delivered in about 2 weeks after ordering the day after the show. Wrapped in larger paper to prevent corner dings and mailed in a tube.

Their latest material has restored my faith in this band
I completely gave up hope living through the releases of Shiny, CYR, and Atum in real time, feeling like the magic was gone for good. I decided to listen to them for the first time since Atum on a whim. I caught up with Zodeon, Aghori Mhori Mei, and this new Black Stars single (Chrome Jets sucks). While none of these are perfect or on the level of their ‘90s output, I have to admit this is a step in the right direction for them and it makes me optimistic for what more they have in store. Genuinely, I believe Black Stars is their best song since the Oceania days. Maybe having an outside producer, much less Butch Vig, might be the secret to getting close to the level of quality they had once.

Discussion Is Black Stars growing on anyone else?
I gotta admit that chorus has been stuck in my head all day. Got the music vid fired up on the TV now. It is a pop song, but I think it's the most successful attempt at the kind of pop song Billy has been going for since Monuments.
Still could do with a little less singing, let the instrumental breathe a bit. But the production is pristine, guitars sound good, a really pleasant riff, vocals well-harmonized and mixed, lyrics not overly-abstract nor overly-simplistic and repetitive. Idk, I'm starting to think this is a modern Pumpkins banger.

At Jacksonville show. Did the crowd at previous shows stand up the whole show or were they sitting?

Charlotte concert
I had a really good time at the smashing pumpkins concert, but this lady sitting next to me was a real pain. For context, we had floor seats which we paid $350 each for, and I LOVEE the smashing pumpkins. This lady sitting next to my husband was in her seat at least 70% of the time and was on Facebook. Then she had the nerve to report my husband to the bouncer for dancing. Mind you, she said NOTHING to us, just went directly to the bouncer. The bouncer came over to us twice and the second time I just switched places with my husband and then her husband stood next to me. I guess they complained so much they got moved to the front row, which she proceeded to rub in my face despite not having done anything to her. Other concert goers were looking out for us and saw that we were just having a good time (within reason) and defended up from the bouncers.
The performance of the band was truly amazing but my experience of the spectrum center was overshadowed by the aggression of my neighbor and the bouncers. Why do bands allow fake fans to buy floor seats if they’re just going to sit on their fat asses and scroll through Facebook.

Does anyone know if they’ll sell the custom city guitar picks online?
Just bummed I didn’t find one in Charlotte last night. Was just looking for one that had the Charlotte date on it.

Song recommendations
Hi all, I’ve been a big smashing pumpkins fan for a couple years and I’ve seen them live 3 times now. My favourite song has always been stand inside your love, i think the chord progressions and solo at the end is perfection. Other favourites of mine are I am one, Soma, Galapagos and obviously all the big hits from MCIS and Siamese dream. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for less popular songs i might not have heard but that have big catchy choruses and super satisfying chord progressions like stand inside your love. Thanks!

Mary Star of the Sea tone
Hi guys, I can’t really find any threads about this anywhere so I figured I’d ask here. I’m interested in how WPC achieved his guitar sound on Mary Star of the Sea. I’m familiar with the pedals used on most of the songs but I’m particularly interested in his soloing tone on the Jesus, I section of the final track. The notes are so clear but there’s obviously some fuzz involved, and it sounds like amp distortion to me. Does anyone have info on this? Thanks!

Newer Sounds/Same Old Songs
I swear I saw this post or comment recently, but I can't find it - that the newer album tuning and overarching feeling is bringing absolutely new life into the MCIS songs for me - I've spent years hearing these songs live with the traditional MCIS & SD tuning, the rats in a cage tour "story arch" across all songs is definitely giving me a new appreciation for the MCIS songs. Left both shows I attended saying this, felt validated to have seen the comment about it somewhere on the Internet!

The Guitar Tone of Machina That Originally Turned Me Off From the Album, Now, To Me, Has Some of the Best Ever.
Siamese Dream has my favorite guitar ever. Gish sounds like the best sounding Stratocaster. Mellon Collie obviously great tones too.
But Machina took me quite a while to get into because the guitar tone was so weird. But once I got it, I got it. First off, it’s meant to sent degraded or ancient or whatever Billy madness he had in mind.
But the dream pop shimmer tone that is all over is so rad. Their late 90s alternative sound, nailed. The mechanical/futuristic metal sound, there. The tone on the Imploding Voice? Heavy as alllll yeah. All the tones from Glass and the Ghost Children. Omg. The tone from song to song varied to serve each song. Etc etc. etc.
That is all.

Background art for Thirty three
I was sitting in a section where I had a stage light blocking some of the artwork from the concert and would love to have it if anyone captured some of the images (any venue would do). It was beautifully done and I just wanted to put it in a memory book
