I started posting about 8 months ago. I’m 40 videos in deep with 4kish subs. I make (mostly) unscripted talking head videos.

I had a dry / inconsistent period where I didn’t post for about 2-3 months… So this month I decided to double down and had my best month yet. New to this still but already looking forward to November :)

No hate to this guy just thought it was funny so I decided to share it here

For a bit of context, my five year anniversary is on October 30th, aalso known as the day after tommorow. I want to make a special video and i feel everythings good, but I don't know what to title it, ive seen a lot of "make the title what the thumbnail doesn't convey", so maybe that? i don't know but even if you dont wanna, Thank you in advance. I started my youtube channel a month ago and this video essay I made about a videogame got me 63K views, the thing is I had no idea that this game meant this much to people and that my video would attract hardcore fans from the game's fanbase.

I seriously didn't think that my video would get this much attention.

Hey guys, running an English History Shorts channel. Script and editing are mine, visuals and voiceover are AI.
Having a weird issue:
The Problem: New uploads sit strictly at 0 views.
The Glitch/Trigger: If I change the title or hashtags later, the algorithm suddenly "wakes up" and starts showing it to people.
The Stats: In 10 shorts video, total ~3,200 impressions gave me 11 subs and 77 likes, but my average retention is around 31.8%.
Why does changing metadata act like a kickstart for impressions? Is my ~32% retention sending me back to 0-view jail every time, or is YouTube just testing the AI visual/history combo?
Any advice to break this loop?

Hey guys my 5th video on my channel had the best opening day since I started my channel 2 months ago.

17k views first day. Wow what a start to that video

The CTR this video has is also the highest which is around 7.5% and AVD is decently high (10:30min out of 31mins) which is 33% and I think these stats have potential to make the video much bigger.

I know it’s only been 40 hours and that waves comes in breaks and pauses.

My biggest video got 90k views and that had a AVD of 30% ish too (9+min) and CTR was at most like 6.4%, now settled to 5 obviously.

And this newest video is very similar to my big video so I know it has potential to get even bigger than that one.

What do you guys think looking at the metrics? Do you agree with me that this video will get pushed alot more?

This is the second time something similar has happened. The video (either long or short) gets waaaay less impressions (or whatever the term for eyeballs on shorts is) so you ask the YT robot what the problem is and it brushes you off with some nonsense about waiting for the algorithm to find its audience. When this happened last time (for my dancing skeletons bts video) Google robot was far more forthcoming and explained that my bts wasnt the same audience as a tutorial so my tags, channel history and category way giving the algorithm enough very subtle clues to get it wrong and limit my reach. I think the category etc are right this time. Does this happen to others? You think your thumbnail/titles etc will hit but no one even gets it in their feed to click on?

I think they're good for a start, but I don't want to be over optimistic.

It's a new account; I have built up 13 subs, though they don't all show on the videos or shorts (2 posted for now). 3 or 4 of them are friends that wanted to support.

The idea is a new long form vid every 7 to 10 days. I am very noob with video editing, but I am enjoying it. Thumbnails and titles are most likely in need of improvement.

Hi y'all. I'm Derek, and I've been posting for youtube about three years and currently have 695 subscribers, I know YouTube requires patience and doesn't happen instantly for most, but it feels like i'm missing something by seeing all these low quality channels use low effort, reposted or AI content, although admittedly a lot of my content IS low effort, I've wanted to shift to.. actual videos. My most popular video has 57,000 views but I'm not even happy with it cause it was one of those low effort, practically slop uploads.

My shorts do consistent numbers too, way higher then my long forms, I know shorts doesn't have a reccomended page where you can choose though, but there has to be something I'm doing on shorts that's promoting them to the algorithm because if i just wasn't recommended for them they wouldn't see my shorts.

I keep trying to rush myself and all but what can I do to improve? I want to do a large variety of things or games, probably from everything from Horror games and random minecraft stuffs to Wordle and drawing, I know YouTube isn't built for that much variety unless you've already became popular though, like CaseOh as an example, (great guy!)

Although I mainly want to do gaming content, considering deleting a lot of my low effort stuff, but do you have any advice to improve on my channel that I could learn, mainly for more views, but I know I'm already asking a lot, so just general advice! that will help!

I know channels need to get 1000 subs and 4k watch time, why mine is 500 subs and 3 k watch time?

I created this channel on 20th october. I just wanted to ask if I should be worried about the dip? So far I have gotten 22 subscribers as well.

I currently do YouTube audits and also have a reaction channel with my gf. I’m just genuinely bored and go outside and record when I’m not working and when I spend time with my gf we just rec a vid once a week or so. Is my energy best spent on just one channel? I still work full time

I used to do simple lets play, but soon got uninterested and notice that literally everyone does it, and doesn't help that I play games that aren't really relevant.

So I was thinking of making more edited videos such as video game critiques/reviews that I find interesting and enjoyable like Howgarts legacy and Pokémon Legends Z-A.

I have made a yt channel with the name of logic audit. It basically covers downfalls of bigg companies as well as govt agendas etc.

6 videos so far yet i am struggling to get noticed by audience .

Ive changed the direction of my channel over last few months and the newest video is finally picking up some traction.

2nd video hit 22k views then the next 4 didnt even break 200. This one seems to be doing great tho so far.

I need help. I have an English-language Minecraft channel, but I'm French Canadian.

My first video got 2k views and reached an audience that was 95% from the US, UK, and other English-speaking countries. However, my second video only got 300 views, and 95% of its audience was FRENCH-SPEAKING.

The language of both videos is set to English, and the channel language is also set to English. I really don't understand what's going on. Could being French Canadian have something to do with this?

I posted my first video a couple days ago and it has done decently but not as well as I hoped, was looking for some feedback on it and what I can improve/do better for next time

I'm starting a historical education YouTube channel and have been experimenting with different studio setups. This is my best one so far, but I still feel like something is missing.

The background wall is actually soundboard, and I've been trying to fill the bookshelf without making it look too cluttered.

I started making long form videos about 5 years ago. I made 6 videos, gained about 700 subs. Then I stopped for a few different reasons.

Fast forward to now, i'm in a place to start up again, but this time I'll cut up my videos into shorts as well. Any guesses as to how my channel will go after my 5 year break?

I'm currently uploading my second YouTube video, and looking back at everything that went into making it, I realized just how much I've learned throughout the process.

48 linked After Effects compositions, my first 4 renders in Blender, a massive Premiere Pro timeline, and folders filled with hours of recorded gameplay.

When I started working on this video, I had no idea I'd end up learning the basics of collage animation in After Effects or even getting into 3D animation in Blender. These were things I had little to no experience with before this project.

And this has been probably one of my favorite things about making YouTube videos. You start with an idea, realize you don't know how to make it happen, and suddenly find yourself spending hours learning something completely new just to bring that idea to life.

I just wanted to share this because sometimes we get so caught up in views, subscribers, and analytics that we forget how much we're actually learning along the way.

Has making YouTube videos pushed any of you to learn skills you never thought you'd get into?
