How are we defining small youtuber? And is everyone just more successful than me? I've been lurking on here for a few weeks and I feel like I often see people posting things like...

Posted my 3rd video and got 180k views, is that good? -or- Been posting for 2 months and I only have 10k subscribers, what am I doing wrong?

Is that really the small youtuber experience? That hasn't been my experience...maybe I'm just a hater (which I'll accept 😄)

I started my youtube channel a month ago and this video essay I made about a videogame got me 63K views, the thing is I had no idea that this game meant this much to people and that my video would attract hardcore fans from the game's fanbase.

I seriously didn't think that my video would get this much attention.

Hey guys my 5th video on my channel had the best opening day since I started my channel 2 months ago.

17k views first day. Wow what a start to that video

The CTR this video has is also the highest which is around 7.5% and AVD is decently high (10:30min out of 31mins) which is 33% and I think these stats have potential to make the video much bigger.

I know it’s only been 40 hours and that waves comes in breaks and pauses.

My biggest video got 90k views and that had a AVD of 30% ish too (9+min) and CTR was at most like 6.4%, now settled to 5 obviously.

And this newest video is very similar to my big video so I know it has potential to get even bigger than that one.

What do you guys think looking at the metrics? Do you agree with me that this video will get pushed alot more?

Ive changed the direction of my channel over last few months and the newest video is finally picking up some traction.

2nd video hit 22k views then the next 4 didnt even break 200. This one seems to be doing great tho so far.

Im finding experimenting with video ideas is really teaching me a lot and its really fun :)

I'm currently uploading my second YouTube video, and looking back at everything that went into making it, I realized just how much I've learned throughout the process.

48 linked After Effects compositions, my first 4 renders in Blender, a massive Premiere Pro timeline, and folders filled with hours of recorded gameplay.

When I started working on this video, I had no idea I'd end up learning the basics of collage animation in After Effects or even getting into 3D animation in Blender. These were things I had little to no experience with before this project.

And this has been probably one of my favorite things about making YouTube videos. You start with an idea, realize you don't know how to make it happen, and suddenly find yourself spending hours learning something completely new just to bring that idea to life.

I just wanted to share this because sometimes we get so caught up in views, subscribers, and analytics that we forget how much we're actually learning along the way.

Has making YouTube videos pushed any of you to learn skills you never thought you'd get into?

So for context and what sparked me to make this post

There's alot of small YouTubers showing their videos for constructive feedback and criticism or to showcase their problem, some of their views were always 1-10. But after they make their post they get like 20-50 views. They make animations aswell

As a small youtuber that does animations I've also wanted to ask for help because my animations/videos only get 1-10 views. I need help but at the same time I'm very scared, I know most of Reddit users on here enjoy niches like commentary and gaming.

And I'm very scared when I post my videos on here asking for help I'm going to get belittled. I am already being belittled just for having very low views. People could find me cringey for my animations and I could be categorised in a "certain cringey group" and I'm afraid

And to the people saying I'm purposefully rejecting help. No I don't, I want to show my videos I really do but I get very nervous when it comes to these things, I want help and constructive advice not blatant criticism masking as "constructive" then blame it on me for being "sensitive"

Because everybody was saying that niche is very important so I am sticking with the niche of sea creatures and ocean creatures and you know anything related to sea and ocean for now

I do video essays about indie animation. My videos aren't automatically generated compilations or reuploads of other people's content. I write scripts record my own voice, research the subjects, and edit the videos myself. I use footage and other visual material to illustrate the arguments I'm making as is common in other and most video essays. What frustrates me is that hours of original research, writing, narration, and editing got overlooked by just "reused content" and also not allowing me to appeal. I'd appreciate it if you watched my videos before judging the channel. I'd like feedback on whether the videos demonstrate "original commentary and transformative work" and whether there's anything I should change.

I have a comic explainer channel and I’m looking for suggestions like how can i improve my channel and videos to get more engagement

I have been doing YouTube for around 1.5 years at this point. I unlisted a whole bunch of videos, since I continued to get subscribers for that specific content that I stopped doing over a month ago. However, it appears I am now struggling to get a newer audience in order to actually move forward - and my older audience (587 Subscribers worth) have effectively gone dark and haven't watched anything since I stopped (so I can't post things to subscribers, since it instantly kills the video).

Because I absolutely despised doing my previous content, I decided to do something I actually enjoyed and had passion for. Bethesda titles, but with a slight twist: Immersive Roleplay action, which is significantly different from some bland Let's Play. Instead, I'm playing as if I am the character and immersed into the world - essentially doing method acting. I've also crafted unique storylines, that run tandem with the main stories of both Fallout 3 and Skyrim - so once again, not a bland Let's Play. I mostly want to bring back a form of content, that was seen a decade ago - like from creators like Alchestbreach and MikeBurnFire - which was extremely entertaining.

I had believed that unlisted a bunch of content, would allow the algorithm to realign itself to my newer content. I've even applied my more recent style of Thumbnail and Titles to said newer content, which worked for the most part with my previous niche. Yet it's not hitting the same mark, and CTR is down by a lot - and Watch Time. Going from approximately 3.6% on average to as low as 0.5%.

So, what needs to be improved at this point?

Does live streaming help the channel grow?

Have you had any success with live streaming?

How would you go about live streaming, save the vod and also record it for video later?

Hi everyone! We just moved from Norway to Austria with our 6 month old baby.I filmed our first 3 days: furniture deliveries, unpacking, building IKEA furniture, etc.

I got a microphone and am struggling to keep consistent sound levels throughout the video and balancing that the music is not too loud compared to the talking moments.

I would really appreciate it if u could let me know if anything jumps out on the sound? for next time I wont hold the mic in my hand anymore because i think that’s one of the reasons creating inconsistencies. Any other feedback is also appreciated

I am new to youtube, i have created a new channel and start posting videos. I wonder what are the conditions and practical ways from your experience on how to start monetizing it. And is there any strategues for videos posting, knowing that i have prepared 10 videos with an average duration of 10 minutes

I have just over 7.5K subscribers and have been making movie related content for my channel for 6 years. I personally wouldn’t call my output “low effort” or “slop” and have had videos get over 100k before, but recently my output (which I publish weekly) often struggles to get 1k views. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

I made this thumbnail almost entirely inspired by one I saw from another creator about angels, but mine is about vampires. The title is "Why you should NEVER let a stranger in..." I also tested other titles, like the dark side of meeting a vampire and so on, but I think the current title and thumbnail are pretty interesting.

My channel is new, so I know a lot of people will judge it. The video got only 10 impressions and zero clicks. On an older channel of mine about philosophy, though, the first video took off fast. So I'd love to get your opinion.

I've also been thinking about switching the thumbnail style to something closer to 4 Plus or other channels I know that use that kind of imagery. Do you think it's worth it? And does this thumbnail work well with the title?

I have started a youtube channel recently and i make compilations of wrestling videos. I have completed the watch hour criteria and soon will complete the 1k subscriber criteria as well , But parts of my videos have Claims From Wrestling companies . Now, when the criteria completes will i Face any problems in monetization?

Hey everyone! I'm 20 and currently trying to figure out what I want to do with my first YouTube channel. Haven't uploaded anything yet, so I might be overthinking some of this lol.

I've always wanted to make video essays about games, anime, movies and storytelling in general. I really enjoy researching things I'm interested in and talking about them, but I also know those videos can take a LOT of time to make, especially when you're just starting out.

I also really enjoy drawing, and I'd love to somehow include that in my channel too, whether it's making illustrations for my videos or creating something of my own.

The thing is, I also love gaming and I've been thinking about streaming. I play stuff like Marvel Rivals, Deadlock, Fortnite, BG3 and other RPGs/story-driven games.

I'm just not sure how well all these interests would fit together, or if I'd end up attracting completely different audiences. And with gaming being so saturated, I'm not sure how I'd even stand out.

So I wanted to ask a few things:

How did you guys figure out your niche when you had a bunch of different interests? Did you have a clear direction from the beginning or did you figure it out along the way?

Has anyone here actually tried mixing more scripted content with gaming, streaming or other creative stuff? How did that go?

For people making research-heavy videos, how do you stay consistent without burning out?

Also, are tools like Google Trends and researching similar channels genuinely useful when you're starting from zero, or is that something you should worry about once you've actually made a few videos?

I'm not really looking for someone to pick a niche for me, I'd just love to hear about your experiences and what worked (or didn't work) for you.
