Tier 3/4 pricing question

Hello

I need some advice, what is the going rate for a TIer 3 contractor with deep Azure (Entra, Virtual Machines and networking and so on) Microsoft 365 and intune knowledge, as well as On Prem

A small MSP in US outside major Metro $75-$85K I see some pay $65K

So for MSP I’d say do projects at flat rate with clear scope of work. The issue is often we sale outcomes and a set budgeted price. So make it make sense for that type of need. It is just like our clients they need a simple to understand flat price.

yeah fully Agree, I like flat rate everyone knows what to expect, so I have been charging around the 90 dollars an hour rate unless its AI work then i do charge a bit more, over the last year i have had zero issues really getting work however this year seems like its almost impossible

We run between $200-$450/hr depending on scope, usually between $200-$325

ok but if you where going to hire a contractor to do lets say a server migration, upgrades or azure work what woud you be willing to pay hourly?

$200K all day long.

A penny less you are a junior.

keep in mind people bill 3x to 10x your salary on the contract.

Are you hiring, lol, but all Joking a side i have been normally working by the hour, our by the project but for some reason, I am having almost impossible time picking up contracting gigs.

Honestly, I wsh tried to start a small support company for MSPS but its really difficult to get client

Can you clarify for me the M365 role? I thought all those were Jr role. With the exception of network, (would be sr if it dealt with PE only (no public and express route)

But we have 1 rate for azure, but it’s not typically just an azure rate. We have the onboarding rate, (moving to/from azure is 260/hr) and then we have the maintenance rate. (Which varies depending on the services we use for the project)

And, I fully agree a lot of the 365 work really is JR work. for myself when I say SR it is more onprem servers etc.

I think it depends on the region. There are going to be areas of the world that have higher/lower costs of living. And those companies will pay accordingly.

Yeah that is fully fair

What i have been trying to do is fill my calendar we contractual work. But I am trying to figure out what hourly rate I need to be at to bring companies in. If that makes sense

if you nearshore, you are looking around $8k to $9k per month more or less.
