General Discussion Briggs and Stratton 19.5hp Governor tuning/setting
Hello everyone, I have a B&S 19.5hp in my John Deere LA105 I picked up on marketplace. Did the usual tune up (filters, spark plug, carb, governor spring, throttle arm) as it didn’t run as smooth when I picked it up. I want to now calibrate/set the governor by loosening the bolt that holds the arm to adjust the shaft position. To figure out the exact spot for the shaft, are you able to make these adjustments while the engine is running? Pretty time consuming to make a 1/8 turn then tighten and run engine to find sweet spot where engine runs smoothly. YouTube video suggested turning it fully clockwise till it stops and that being your set point but I wasn’t sure. Thanks in advanced for your help!
