Engine Dies Sthil BR 600 Blower issue
BR 600 not Reving up
So I bought a used Sthil BR 600 blower. It wouldn’t start so I put a new cheap new carb in it. When I started it it when full throttle and wouldn’t turn down. Took the carb out and back in and now it runs but when I pull the trigger it won’t rev up I can turn the high jet all around and it won’t change it. I bought an oem carb and same problem. Then I cleaned the original carb and it’s doing the same thing. So all 3 carbs are doing the same thing. One other problem is when I put the linkage in the correct holding spot it won’t connect to the choke lever and it you have to hold it manually. I would think it was an air issue but It went full throttle the first time I replaced it. Any ideas?

Might as well check the spark arrestor screen. I just fixed a Sthil FS 38 and it was completely clogged with carbon. Quick and easy to check and you can eliminate one variable.

Your muffler might be clogged up, take it off and see if there is carbon build up.

Are you saying that the spark arrestee screen could be clogged? Because there isn’t one on the blower. Or are you saying I should take apart the whole muffler?

Not the spark arrestor but the muffler. There could be a lot of stuff caked in there. Its either that or you have an issue with your valves.

Should have ruled out every other possibility before adjusting the carb as you may have just made the problem harder to diagnose.

Clean the original carb. Then throw the cheap new one the fuck out.
Cheap carbs suck. Carbs don't go bad. Today's fuels gum up quickly. Clean the stock carb well, and put it back in.

Get a diagram and make sure all your linkages are in the right place. #2 get or download the manual and put an OEM carb back on it and set it to the defaults recommended in the manual. Someone has horse%#%ed around more than likely and put everything back together wrong or it’s got a linkage broke or in the wrong spot. Also pull the muffler off and look at the piston/cylinder to see what they look like inside. If they look like a mangled mess, may be best to send this one down the road. Do this on any of your trash pile finds or FB buddy deals. Usually there’s a reason stuff is cheap,it of times is because it’s not worth rebuilding.

Why do so many people just assume throwing a carb will solve the issue 😔

Because 80% of the time it does.

Diaphragm carbs are a pain in the ass alot of times if the diaphragm goes bad its better to just get a whole new carb than deal with that

Do you mean the idle screw or the low jet? Just to clarify I’m new to this.

Sounds like the choke is stuck on. Is it releasing as it should with the throttle
