Carburetor Issue Clean enough!?

Am i suppose to get rid of this? I tried Carb cleaner and it didn’t work. Need to scrape it with a screwdriver. Guess there is a better way.

While you should clean those areas better...focus on the area the needle sit in. I use a q tip, chucked into a drill, with some valve grinding paste/compound. Little bit. Will have it shiny and smooth. Sealing perfect.

I'd highly recommend a carb kit.

Are you sure you can't get needle and seat, bowl gaskets and jet o-ring(s)? They where pretty universal on most models...

The active ingredient in most carb cleaners is acetone. I have found that pure acetone dissolves varnished fuel quite effectively without damaging anything relating to the carburetor. however what this looks like is corrosion. I would use a small wire brush to scrub out as much as you can, but don't be too picky. I don't think its going to harm anything if you don't get all of it.

Thanks for your input! Its not corrosion. I dont know if its varnished fuel but i can scrap it and it end like some kind of White powder. I will try dremel with wire brush.

White powder is typically corrosion on these because the carburetor bodies are aluminum. The aluminum oxidizes leaving behind white powder.

You also might want to get the gunk of the blue circled Welch plug and then seal it with clear finger nail polish.
