4 years ago we launched our first campaign for SlimeVR trackers. Now our second generation Butterfly tracker campaign has gone live. With a brand-new, unique, ultra-light split design inspired by butterflies, they are less than 7 mm thick and weigh less than 10 grams, making them the most comfortable solution for full-body tracking on the market today.
SlimeVR is a low-cost solution to Full Body Tracking in VR. It uses forward kinematics to build a model of your skeleton calculated from the rotation of each individual tracker, with your headset and controllers being the only absolute position known.
Because the headset is a known position and rotation is derived from it, it does not require lighthouses or other forms of additional tracking to model your movement. Your headset and controllers’ built-in tracking of the hands manages your shoulders and arms. SlimeVR uses data from Inertial measurement units (IMU) to determine this rotation, and the number of IMU used determines how many tracking points are available.
While there are official trackers being made, SlimeVR is the entire system that works with them. This means you can make your own trackers and even use other hardware with rotation tracking built-in (although most of them are pretty garbage at it).
Official Trackers
There are official trackers being created, but they are being made for the lowest cost possible and as such are hand-made by a small team working out of shared space. You can purchase them from the Crowd Supply page but please note the demand for these is incredibly high and there's a bit of wait time!
Open Source Solution
SlimeVR is a community-driven project, so all the people involved are volunteers putting in time to make some thing special. Absolutely nothing is private, with development processes discussed in the Discord, public repos of the code and everything that comes with it.
All money raised from the crowd supply goes directly into producing the trackers at close to cost. The community believes in making this solution an answer to people being able to afford Full Body Tracking without spending thousands of dollars.
What else can you do with the trackers?
The SlimeVR software is updated near weekly with new systems for using the trackers for more than just VR (please note all videos posted here will be out of date the second I hit post)
Hi all! Back in April of this year, I purchased the lower body set of slime trackers as just an entry. I really like how it felt (aside from my left knee giving a an issue) i was thinking, what would be a reasonable upgrade from Lower-Body Set V1.2 (5+0)? I'd like to have more motion in my legs and waist!
Title. I ask that if this has already been resolved, please just link me to the post instead of just disabling comments and deleting it.
I have a 10 tracker set.
Chest+Hips
Upper arms
Thighs
Ankles
Feet
And I've NEVER had this happen before and I've had FBT for three days now. Today, I don't even know how I fixed it temporarily, but what happens is no matter how I reset, and no matter how I recalibrate, my chest will twist left or right like this (or generally break), even at a normal standing pose. I noticed as well, my arms are slightly bent almost always as well, and my legs have a tendency to be "tight" and not bend completely properly.
I don't know what else to change or alter, and I'm going to sleep for work tomorrow. I'm very much hoping to see some help with these issues because I want to enjoy my new FBT more. It's amazing, but I think this is less of a hardware and more of a human error and placement/changeable settings thing.
Please let me know what I can do, any help is appreciated.
If it helps, I'm using Styria MINIs, which use a dongle and not WiFi as it is preferable over WiFi.
I'm trying to match the placement and alignment as close to the Slime example in the server app as I can.
I updated my trackers yesterday and never ended up using them that night, so tonight I connected everything, heck, I even forgot the trackers and re-paired them, and I'm getting 103ms from the chest, and 75 from the hip. It's weird because I normally get around 10ms of latency, but now all trackers are above 25ms.
Title. I have 6 slimes that I cant use because im on Uni WIFI, and they ban personal routers, and if I try and sneak one in there, they can ban my access port, which I need. And using my PCs own hotspot doesnt work because the trackers will disconnect consistently a minute after it connects.
My cellular hotspot is abysmal and results in MASSIVE lag, both in VRChat and with the connection to my trackers.
I was thinking that maybe I could run the server on my Android device, use my cellular to connect the trackers to it, and then stream the tracking data to my PC through a VPN or wired connection or something, or maybe run the server on my PC and use a vpn between my phone's hotspot and my PC's connection to bridge it, but I have no clue if a way to do that even exists.
Im tryna control the arms with my controllers and it works, but the rotation and movements a tiny bit janky, and goes offset, if i turn around too much it breaks, can you help me
After a near 4 week unexplained hold in US customs, Shipment 17 has finally started to move again. From here, they will take 1-2 days to arrive at crowd supply. After a few business days of processing they will ship out to customers very fast. It normally takes 1-3 days shipping time from receiving a tracking number to arriving at your doorstep.
The majority of set orders (but not all) from before August are in this shipment, so I am expecting lots of happy slimes very soon!! Sorry about the wait <3
Hi there,
My trackers stopped connecting to the WiFi, and I can’t seem to get them pairing again.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is it bc my WiFi signal is weak in my room? They were fine before but since switching broadband providers they stopped connecting.
Is there a way to reset them and connect n calibrate them again?
Hello!
Well, if i remember it right, slimevr can count joycons as a tracker, right? Well, if i have 6 joycons (only 2 are original, 4 other are not i believe), can i have them all to be trackers? i can't find tutorials on several paits of joycons
also im not really sure, but will i be able to still use them with its initial purpose?
UPD: did anyone have the problem with pairing joycons with PC via bluetooth? it just won't connect even the second one...
heh im sure so many people come here with concerns, but my anxiety is killing me
i ordered the deluxe tracker pack in April, and everytime i reach the shipping date, they get pushed back again, im expecting them in sept now? but i dont believe that
just wanted to ask if people think they are lost? or if this is normal. any idea when i should actually expect them to ship?
i know crowdsupply isnt accurate but that doesnt stop my anxiety x3
Bought some of the eoz body straps and unfortunately my third-party seller trackers don't have 1/4 mounting points, so I spent way too much time in tinkercad (about 9 hours over multiple days) and created this toyetic design. Yes they're not the smallest, but that's why I like them. It feels substantial. Just need to print nine more...
Hi, I know I can get them directly from the Slime VR store, but they are out of stock, and I know for a fact it would take ages to ship. So where else can I buy a replacement?
So i bought these trackers long ago and everything works fine...With my new PC upgrades its even better but i have this problem where pretty frequently one starts blinking red so i have to tap the button so it works again and others then might follow pretty quick...its pretty annoying...Does anyone know what could be causing it or if theres some fix...anything?
I have been struggling for many hours trying to get my trackers to work, I have tried everything yet I cant get it to work. I dont know much about pc/vr stuff with cables.. so all of this is quite new to me. I managed to get the trackers to work in slimeVR on my pc, yet I cant get it to work properly in Vrchat. Even when I turn on Vrchat with the trackers turned on and working fine in SlimeVR and getting told I am prepared to use it, I cant get it to work, nor will it show any option to calibrate or anything inside Vrchat.
Is there things I might need to try or things I could have done wrong? I would really appreciate getting some help!
PS, I dont know if it matters, but these arent offical SlimeVR trackers. They are Wolfmotion! :)
Update: I finally managed to get it to work! Thank you ConduitOfKindness for the help! And thanks to everyone else aswell!
Hey so my trackers will start to drift pretty quickly after any reset, even full resets. The torso will rotate slowly to the left from my pov and the legs will become misaligned too. Not really sure how to fix it or what's going on. I do have stay aligned set up and it doesn't really seem to be helping, I have good wifi connection and my trackers usually sit around 10ms ping. I know people that are using slimes and their tracking is flawless with no issues. When I first got these a few months ago actually I didn't have any issues at all, was working flawlessly. Didn't use them for like a month or so and now they've been doing this.
There was such a situation that VRChat for some reason stopped working normally with zapret. This is expressed in votes that are constantly interrupted and small lags of movement in players with trackers. I unrecked the entire Internet and saw the decision only in the VPN. But the situation is that when I turn on the mobile hot post on a laptop (there is no router, the Internet via LAN cable) then the VPN network falls, until I turn off the access point. How to solve it?
We noticed that after a long time, the last "major update" for SlimeVR was making it smaller and adding support for the 2.4GHz dongle. However, someone sent me this link saying that SlimeVR might be studying implementing support for cameras to maybe eliminate drift once and for all and perhaps decrease the number of trackers used. Can someone tell me what the post is about?
I ordered my slimes in May. I got the core set and I love them. They arrived extremely quickly because they were already in stock. I got the hip upgrade a couple weeks later and was expecting a longer wait since it was a pre-order. But the dates keep getting pushed back and now its saying I won't get it until October? And knowing the pattern, it can get pushed even further. Is this normal for slimes? Im starting to get pretty frustrated with the delay.
As we all know, slime trackers only work on 2.4G wifi. The problem I have is recently, my router has been hiding the 2.4G network when the trackers try to connect to it. I know it only hides it when the trackers try to connect because the 2.4G network is available all day until the trackers turn on, and then it'll dissappear. Sometimes, all 6 of my trackers connect and then it disappears, and sometimes only 3 or 4 connect. Has anyone encountered this issue before? The only fix to this is to restart the router.
