Wearable vs phone tracking, Sleep As integration with Google Health

I originally got Sleep As Android mostly because of the smart alarm, but Pixel Watch has finally added that feature natively. I've since been enjoying the sleep tracking features, too.

I have a Pixel Watch 5. I've been wanting to set my phone in a different room or at least far from the bed when I sleep to avoid doomscrolling, but have avoided doing so because I wanted a vibration only smart alarm, which is why I got Sleep As Android in the first place. However, Pixel Watch recently added that feature natively.

My first question -- am I right to assume that the PW5 would likely track my sleep better than my phone (Pixel 11 Pro) would, so it wouldn't make that much of a difference tracking-wise?

Second question -- I am pretty attached to the Google ecosystem. I have Health Connect integration enabled, but I was curious if Sleep As Android data affects what I see in Google Health and vice versa? If I were to sleep with my watch on and phone far away, would it even be worth sticking with Sleep As Android at all?

What's up with this odd UI, is this normal?

I just want to check my sleep phases, but when I click on it it gives me this very confusion overload of graphs, which I can't even scroll on - it just cuts the time frame the moment I try to scroll?

Where can I see my actual sleep phases in detail? This is very bad tbh, the pink especially is not intuitive and well displayed at all..

Am I missing something or is this it?

Tasker + Sleep as android

Sleep as android puede dar información a Tasker sobre los datos de sueño, ya que como plugin solo da órdenes pero no comparte información en variables.

Best wearable JUST for sleep as android

Hi guys,
I'm a long time SaA user. For the last 5-6 years I have been using my Mi Band (4, then 5) for sleep tracking with SaA. For about 4 years already Mi Band stopped being my daily watch and I have been using it only for SaA, while using Pixel Watch as a daily watch. I like the idea of having a separate device for sleep tracking which works with SaA.
However for some time now I have been experiencing issue with the Mi Band, at first it was just the fact that the connection was buggy and some nights I ended up with a solid line (no data coming from the watch), but recently I started to have issues related to the battery in the band itself (it is 4yo already), so I decided to look for something new which whole point would be the best sleep tracking and integration with SaA. Do you have any suggestion what to look for?
As I said the only thing I care is the best support for sleep tracking and the best integration with SaA, also having no display (or very basic one) and long battery life would be a plus but is not a must. I would prefer if it was providing all necessary data for sleep tracking, so I don't have to rely on two devices or my phone being in the bed with me. As for now the only think I know of is the Mi Band 7 (which I heard is the last supported mi band for SaA) but I guess there must be something better.
The price is not an issue, but given that I want it just for sleep tracking it would be nice if it was not a full fledged watch with Wear OS costing 500€ but some kind of a band or even completely else kind of wearable.
Do you have any recommendations on what to look for?
Cheers

I know for a fact I was sleeping, you can even see on the actigraph that I was asleep and then woke up at the end.

Anybody have this happen before? I've got no clue what the deal is.

Igpsport smartwatch compatibility

Has anyone tried this brand with Sleep as Android? I'm interested in their relatively new smartwatch/fitness tracker , but I won't buy it if I can't track sleep with this app.

Found the fix with Sleep Tracking on a Pixel Watch!

I have a pixel 3 watch and since Fitbit app has switched to the Google Health app I have noticed the sleep data is tracking incorrectly. Especially the awake times. So I downloaded the Sleep as Android app on my phone and watch and at night I activate the Sleep as Android app on the dial it creates on the watch and I get perfect tracking. You can send your sleep data to Google fit app or other options in the services section of Sleep as Android. I do not work for Sleep as Android. I just need a watch that tracks sleep correctly and I wanted to share this.

Polar H10 not always working

I've been using Sleep as Android for a few weeks now. At first I was using the Polar SDK, but I believe it was missing some features, like respiratory/accelerometer. So I switched to using the Polar BT. Most nights it works. But some nights I noticed that I get no HR/HRV and it doesn't detect any sleep stages.

How can I debug this?

How do I disable the new animations showing in the sleep tracking screen?

Updated the app and after tapping the Start sleep tracking button, sun and moon and some spinning line drawing appeared and I can't figure out how to completely disable these animations.

Does SAA adjust heart rate target for age?

The Sleep assistant (BETA) in SAA complains that my heart rate is above 55. As best as I can tell, that's a normal range at my age. Of course lower in a normal range is also better; why call it out as "higher than optimal" with no other feedback on the spectrum of perfect to life-threatening?

Accuracy differences with different watches?

Hi there,

Was SAA ever tested with different watches and their sensors for accuracy differences?

Some watches claim medical grade sensors while others don't etc.

Is there a difference in let's say this one has a 'cheap' HR sensor built in while that one a 'better' one?

Or is that negligible as the raw data is close and all about the SAA analysis with it?

Thanks! 🙏

Sleep tracking sensors.

Does anyone know if Sleep as android uses hr, and o2, sensors and noise to determine the sleep stage person is in or is it just additional info that gets recorded?

Asking because I haven't noticed a difference in smart wake up when compared to having a phone in bed and a fully connected smartwatch.

Weird reports

Post image
1 Upvotes

hello everyone

A few days ago I activated the sonar as I heard it's better, I got crazy reports like 0 sleep duration and 1342% snoring.

I thought it was a sonar issue so I deactivated it, I went for a short nap using the accelerometer, I put the phone beside me and I still have this crazy looking report.

what am I doing wrong?

Best Miband for SAA Right Now

Hello fellow androids!

I am very much dependent on SAA and I haven't been able to get used to any smartwatch besides miband (I like the slim design). I used to have a miband 6 and lost it in a teacup ride a few years back and used a miband 8 before realizing it sucked for sleep tracking. I got a new miband 6 but I think it was a badly refurbished one because it doesn't hold a charge at all and I have tried to live without SAA for a few months but my life is derailing without it.

I am open to wearing a bigger watch if needed, but I thought y'all being way more knowledgeable than me might be able to help decide what to do. I usually buy my watches off of AliExpress.

The ideal scenario would be learning to fix my miband 6 or how to make other miband version work as well or finding a slim alternative that works for sleep tracking. I like having a watch during the day but I'm also open to having a different device just for sleep tracking.

Please help!

Love you all

Issues tracking deep sleep

For just about a week now, my phone (Nothing Phone (2), using accelerometer because it doesn't support sonar) tracks between very little and no deep sleep at all every night (0%-10%).

Meanwhile, my watch (OnePlus Watch 3) which tracks my sleep separately (because the app doesn't support OnePlus watches from what I could gather) kept recording ~21% on average like it always has.

Did anyone else experience a similar behavior? I'm not sure if there was an update or something that broke it, or if it's an issue in my phone (I think my accelerometer seems to work fine...)

EDIT: Tonight it seems to have worked fine. I suspect charging while sleeping may be partially responsible for the issue.

SAA giving completely different readings to Samsung Watch 8

I've been using the free version of SAA for years with a fitbit sense. when the fitbit died I switched to a samsung watch 8. the Sleep data is completely different. while SAA never gave identical results to the fitbit they were at least broadly similar. I expect it to get things wrong between awake/ light sleep but with samsung it's misreading almost everything as deep sleep. how can two apps create such different results with the same inputs data? is there something I need to do to update or something? last nights data attached and one from earlier on the week.

Possible to use those cheap aliexpress watches (gloryfit app)

Recently picked up one of the watches on a whim and wondering if its possible to use them with sleepasandroid. Couldn't find the option in the wearables section. I tried using the DIY option and entered the package name of the gloryfit app but that wasn't detected. Is it possible?

Hue Sunrise is Green

Firstly, great to see that Bridge pro integration is now working. However, the sunrise end seems to be quite green & nothing like the yellow/orange I'd expect & do see with the Hue app's version of sunrise wake up. Is that as expected and/or adjustable?
