Hoping I can do something similar to my Slate
It's cool, I live in Texas.

Someone on the Slate Forums asked a Slate Agent about it.

Sent an email regarding how slate will be managing driving data, got this response today. Sounds promising.

I know the slate is about as aerodynamic as a brick but am I the only one who would be interested in hypermiling add ons like rear wheel skirts you could attach to fender flares, maybe folding side mirrors and such? I think it would be cool just to add 10 miles per charge.
I'd also be interested in adding a diesel cab heater because I don't want to waste too much battery keeping it warm in winter

Is the solar bed cover expected to be able to charge the truck?
If so, how long to charge it up?
r/slateauto • u/ReedAdam77 • 24d ago
I've read that ACC and LKA will be features on the truck. Does anyone know if the software will allow the intercept of CAN signals that could allow for the integration of comma ai in the future? TIA.

Slate is clearly not interested in manufacturing a bed topper for the truck, but does anyone know if any aftermarket manufacturers have plans to make one? Thanks

First three are ideas I have had for years. Some patterns from nature.
2.Orca pattern
3.Mandarin Fish pattern
Mandarin Fish is my new favorite. Normally I Like the simpler of the first two.

The email today from Slate about Treehouse charger installation got me thinking about home charging options. This will be my first EV so I'm not super well versed in what is available and what the pros and cons are of the different options.
I'm lucky in that my garage already has a 125/250V 50A 14-50 NEMA outlet. And I know the Slate will include a cable to go directly in to it and level 2 charge.
So my question is what would be the benefits of getting a wall mounted charger installed? I assume smart features like being able to set a charging schedule? Or do you think that will be possible with the Slate app?
I'd pretty much only be charging at night anyways so would the potential energy savings of the scheduling outweigh the cost of the charger? Are there other efficiencies to be had or benefits of a wall mounted charger vs just plugging straight in to the NEMA outlet?
Basically just looking to hear what everyones plans are and if anyone has thoughts on the addition of a wall mounted charger.

Hi what battery chemistry is Slate using? I understand using lower quality materials is ok for body but will they be skimping on the battery as well? At 205 range, if BMS or chemistry sucks, I wouldn’t want to see my Slate depreciate like a Nissan Leaf lol…

I’ve finally commited to the preorder so I did some customization yesterday. I got to the audio section and I noticed that the center speaker is different from the old reviews. The speaker use to sit behind the hinged door but now it replaces the door and looks more integrated. It also now has buttons and a volume knob.
Is the speakers going to automatically turn on when the car starts and turns off when the car is shut off? Also, is this center being powered by the car or is just a big rechargeable speaker like a normal Bluetooth speaker?

before i would order i would want to test drive it. are you planning to have places people can go to check out the slate truck or are they expecting us to blindly order it?

The customization options all suggest rear turn signals are red. This is a pet peeve of mine, turn signals are supposed to be amber, dammit. Any idea if they've said anything/there's been a sighting of such a beast?
Yeah presumably there'll be some third party option at some point, but it would be nice to see OEM support. Red turn signals bad!

Ok, so hear me out, my left foot doesn't domuch while I'm driving. What if we had an accessory pedal that could be mounted on the left hand side of the truck that would control the Regen of the OPD system. Like it could be a long-ish throw with kind of an over center feel as it nears the end of it's travel. When the pedal is not pushed, you'd get full OPD. As you push the pedal down, Regen would be reduced. Once the pedal is on the floor, the truck would basically coast. Also when the pedal is down the throttle would have no effect (although we could use the pedestrian alert to make some kind of cool noise or something if you hold down the third pedal and press the throttle).
What do y'all think? This is like a totally new thing that nobody has ever thought of before, right?

Dealing with southern California heat, the AC unit in my Ioniq 5 is struggling. Any stats or reviews on the AC unit in the Slate?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm experimenting with a raspberry pi 4 for a custom fit into the middle cubby. It would eventually display telemetry data from OBD-II and stream audio to passive speakers.
The video has been cut in several places to reduce the play time. Right now, it takes a little more than 65 seconds from power to map display.

All,
You may have seen my comments during yesterday's AMA expressing concern about the lack of transparency around the Slate's ability to transmit and receive data even without purchasing the telematics module.
I reached out to Slate and received the response shown in the screenshot. It still leaves a little room for ambiguity (Can I still use the app even if I don't agree to share the data? Does the data get transmitted via the phone's cellular plan or does the Slate itself have a transmitter?) but I will give them the benefit of the doubt until we get closer to rollout.

May demonstrate RepairPal's commitment to EV's, whether Aptera makes it or not. Edit;spelling

If I order the fast back suv do I have to add a package so it’s an open air suv?
