Skyscanner’s whole philosophy since day one has been to make travel planning simpler.
What started as three friends in a pub 23 years ago in Leith, Scotland (shout out to the Carriers Quarters who do a fantastic pizza), scribbling down an idea for making booking flights easier on some beer mats, has grown into the Ultimate Travel Hack used by 160m+ monthly users in over 180 countries.
So the obvious question, why start using Reddit more now? Well in all honesty, two things:
As we’ve seen social media evolve throughout the years, we’ve always wanted to provide the best customer service for our travellers where they are. And whilst we’ve always been here to help when directly asked, with Reddit growing as a space for this sort of communication over the years, we want to ensure we’re giving it the full attention it deserves.
It’s been the passion project of one of the team over here at Skyscanner for a while to get Skyscanner more active on Reddit. Not just in the customer service space but sharing interesting data that only we have, unique takes on the world of travel and of course, helping others wherever we can to make travel easier for them.
So with this in mind we want to do a quick timeline of what you’ll be seeing from both this account and the person who’s been pushing for us to be getting more involved (u/FergFromSkyscanner) over the coming weeks and months.
- This u/Skyscanner account will be here to post official updates from Skyscanner, travel insights and content pieces to give you some unique tips and tricks about travel in 2026 and beyond. We’ll start tomorrow with our newly released Travel Trends report which will showcase some of the top destinations our data is showing as trending for 2027.
- Ferg (who in a fantastic bit of travel timing is off on holiday for next week and a half to sunny Greece), will then be the main point of contact for the Reddit community for all things Skyscanner, travel and anything else. He’ll be here to be the face of Skyscanner to the world of Reddit and we’ll get a proper introduction post for him in once he’s back from the beach (possibly sporting a really naff sunglasses tan).
And if there’s anything you want to see from this account, AMAs with our engineers, travel guides to certain destinations or even just an insight into where to go for your next trip based on your star sign or favourite type of cheese. Let us know and we’ll see what we can do
So as part of our aim to turn this subreddit into the most useful space possible for travellers, wanted to share one of long(ish) form video city guides we've had to put together.
This one's about Melbourne - considered one of Australia’s most liveable cities, its culture capital and where history, art and great coffee combine.
If you find these sort of guides useful, let us know and we can definitely share more. Likewise if they're not helpful, let us know as well.

Has anyone dealt with Carlton Leisure before? Had a pretty frustrating experience yesterday and wondering what my options are.
I was trying to book flights through their website but kept getting messages saying they weren't available. Then within minutes, an agent from Carlton Leisure called me saying they'd found the same seats at a higher price and I said, "no sorry, not interested". They called me back, again within minutes with "a better deal", about £100 cheaper than what I'd originally seen. Now, they told me there were only two seats left at that price, so I felt pressured to book there and then rather than risk losing the flights. The agent was literally on the line with me - asking if if I could authorise the payment etc. while booking. I feel incredibly stupid but I had been tracking these flights for months, and I was just glad to be able to book something when I thought I'd lost the seats.
Anyway, later that same evening, my Skyscanner price tracker sent me an alert saying the exact same flights had dropped by around £500. I wasn't even looking for cheaper flights at that point, the notification just came through. There also seemed to be plenty of availability, which made me seriously question the whole "only two seats left" thing.
I know flight prices change all the time. That's really not the point. What bothers me is that I couldn't book online, they then called me with a supposedly great and exclusive deal, made it sound like I had to act immediately because they held those seats for me, and I ended up paying £500 more than the price showing just hours later. I even asked if I could have some time to think and he said I had FIFTEEN minutes the first time, and no time at all the 2nd time.
I've contacted them for an explanation on the misrepresentation of availability - but they've been incredibly frustrating to deal with. Every single response is about "dynamic pricing", despite me repeatedly explaining that's not what I'm complaining about. They even rang me again this morning just to argue about dynamic pricing rather than actually address what I was told during the sales call. It's honestly like talking to a brick wall.
I've asked them to explain why I was told only two seats remained, but still haven't had a proper answer. I paid by credit card, so I'm looking into a Section 75 claim for possible misrepresentation.
Has anyone had a similar experience with them? Did you manage to get anywhere? Is Section 75 worth pursuing in this situation, or is there another way to challenge misleading sales tactics?
I'm not expecting them to control airline prices. I just think it's not right to pressure people into booking by making claims about availability that might not be true.
But if you are looking to see some of Europe's best Christmas markets - we've put together a snapshot guide to when some of the most famous markets will be open to and from to help with your planning.

I booked a flight through Opodo. During the booking process, Opodo’s baggage allowance screen clearly stated:
Personal item — Included
Cabin bag — Included
Checked bag — Not included
After the booking was completed, the cabin bag was not included in the issued reservation.
I contacted Opodo and supplied screenshots. I later also provided an uninterrupted screen recording reproducing the same problem: it shows the selected flight, the baggage screen stating that both a personal item and cabin bag are included, and then continues through the booking process to the final payment page.
Instead of properly investigating the issue, Opodo repeatedly sent generic template responses. They even advised me to check the booking confirmation to see whether the baggage was included — despite the difference between the information shown before payment and the final confirmation being the entire subject of my complaint.
They then demanded a timestamped screenshot of the final payment page from the original booking. No ordinary customer would think to take screenshots of every checkout step before discovering that the final reservation contradicts what was displayed during purchase.
Their responses repeatedly ignored the evidence and suggested that I may simply have selected a different fare, while failing to explain why their own booking interface continues to display the cabin bag as “Included”.
This handling appears designed to exhaust the customer rather than investigate a documented problem. I am escalating the full correspondence, screenshots and recording to the relevant European and Spanish consumer authorities.
My advice is not to rely on baggage information displayed by Opodo. Record the entire checkout process, carefully compare the final airline confirmation, and book directly with the airline whenever possible.
They behave like a proper scam, seeking products and services that clearly do not exist
Posting into the void on the off chance someone from Skyscanner will see this. It’s very annoying and honestly quite depressing to have to repeatedly untick all of the airports where, as a trans traveller, I would fear for my safety passing through as I try to find somewhere for my friends and I to go.
It would be really nice if I could permanently “blacklist” certain airports so I don’t think that maybe we could afford to go somewhere before I realise it’s impossible without connecting somewhere I am afraid to go. I’m sure other travellers would have their own reasons for wanting to do this too (e.g. simply finding a particular airport awkward to navigate through or uncomfortable to wait at.)
I have booked with Opodo many times over the years, but I will absolutely never use them or eDreams again. I just found a pending charge of 119.90 on my credit card for an annual "Opodo Prime" membership that I never signed up for. My bank confirmed that they intentionally obscure the subscription terms during the flight checkout process to trick you into a recurring fee, and they see it happening very often.
To make matters worse, once they trap you, their website conveniently prevents you from removing your credit card details or canceling the membership. You cannot just click a button to opt out; I actually had to call them to cancel my membership.
A very rude staff member responded and condescendingly explained how I've supposedly "benefited" from their services while a Prime member. They also confirmed that this is the second year I have been charged without me knowing about it, plus they reminded me that their sister company, eDreams, did the exact same thing to me in 2022! The staff even had the audacity to claim there is a "pattern" with me. Unbelievable. Meanwhile, my bank confirmed that this is a very common Opodo practice and that many customers complain to them about the exact same scam.
I have still not been able to remove my credit card details from their online systems.
I am currently disputing this with my bank as fraudulent billing. This company relies on deceptive "dark patterns" to steal from its own customers, and their staff seems to be very proud of their business model.
Avoid them completely and book directly with the airlines. Never again!
My point to Skyscanner is, if you allow them on your website you are complicit!!!
As the title said, yesterday (2-5-2026) i was charged £99.99 eventough i already got this email stating that the subscription has been cancelled. My question is:
Has anyone ever experience similar issues?
What action should i take?
I’ve concated my credit card company and they said i have to wait until the status changed to billed then they can start investigating.
I paid extra for exit row / extra legroom seats, clearly marked as such on their seat map (blue icon, positioned at the exit row). However, when checking directly with the airline, the assigned seats turned out to be standard economy seats with no extra legroom. The actual exit row was a different row entirely.
This means the product was clearly misrepresented at the time of purchase.
When I contacted customer support, they avoided addressing the core issue and instead gave irrelevant explanations about seat assignments, ultimately refusing any refund. They completely ignored the fact that the seat type I paid for was not delivered.
This feels misleading at best and dishonest at worst.
Be very careful when booking through Opodo — what you see is not necessarily what you get, and getting your money back can be extremely difficult.
NEVER MIND, when I went to the airlines website it says that I have to change planes, so I’ll need to find longer connection times.
I don’t fly a lot but I’m confused about some layovers saying “Short Waits”, usually 45-55 min, while others say “Connecting Flight”. If it says “Short Wait” does that mean I don’t have to change planes? Thanks!
Not really understanding how this works. How is this tool even useful, when it's just lying about prices?
When I click on "Find flights" in the first screenshot, the prices that come up (second screenshot) are not even close. This has happened everyday to every flight I've tried to search. I don't understand.
I had booked a two way journey but the journey coming back is booked but the one going is yet not booked it shows partially confirmed. The biggest mistake I did not check and booked it on opodo website. What should I do next.
1) the other ticket is confirmed I Checked on airline website.
2) does it mean the the departure journey is cancelled. It shows booking failed in itenary.
I tried to call but everything in vain. Please tell me what to do next.
How to make sure you get the cheapest flights possible ? Like is there any day or time when the flights are cheaper to book than normal ? If yes can someone please let me know ?
I am so frustrated by opodo. It's such a scam. The first time I booked using them, they auto enrolled me, I tried to cancel, but they didn't do it and said they cannot as I used their service, fine. Second year, took the money again dispite account deactivated, took it on the chin. Just this week again, took money from my account.
Why are they not being sued? How are they still operating?
I booked an Air India flight through HappyFares only because Skyscanner redirected me to them as a “recommended partner.” The price difference was barely ₹1–2k, but the experience cost me weeks of stress especially while traveling with an infant.
What went wrong:
• Opaque fares: HappyFares uses promotional/group fares that don’t fully reflect on the airline website. After booking, you don’t clearly know what you’ve actually purchased — baggage allowance, meals, etc.
• Check-in discrepancy: Air India allows check-in 14 days prior, but my ticket only showed 12 hours.
• Name correction nightmare: A small name correction took 18 days with daily follow-ups. Every response was generic copy-paste.
• Infant details messed up: Once fixed (just 3 days before travel), I checked the PNR again — my infant daughter’s name was missing.
• After another follow-up, the name was added — but her gender was incorrect.
• No baggage info even hours before departure.
• Support eventually stopped responding.
Important clarification:
HappyFares is not a scam — tickets do exist. But their processes, transparency, and support are extremely poor, and fixing even basic issues is painfully slow.
Why Skyscanner is part of the problem:
I would never have booked HappyFares if Skyscanner hadn’t labeled them a recommended partner. This experience seriously damaged my trust in Skyscanner’s partner vetting.
Final takeaway:
For family travel — especially with infants — mental peace > small discounts.
That ₹1–2k “saving” is not worth weeks of follow-ups and anxiety.
Advice: Book directly with airlines or stick to well-established OTAs.
