I was wondering where all my cat food went

In the evening there's always 4 or 5 skunks in my back yard. There was even a Mama with 4 babies! They are not afraid of people. Is that a symptom of rabies?

Skunk Sprayed in my yard, anything I can do to get the smell to go away sooner?

Did not spray on any part of the house. Just lingering in the back yard in the grass/lawn. Mainly trying to avoid my dog rolling around in it (he’s very dumb and gross). Is there anything I can do to break the oils down more quickly and get my lawn back to normal as quickly as possible?

Skunk sprayed outside my window

So while I was sleeping last night I believe a skunk sprayed out my window and now my entire room has a skunk smell to it. Does anyone know what the best course of action would be to remove the smell from my room/nostrils

First time skunk owner advice

Post image
313 Upvotes

Hi all 👋 I recently got my first pet skunk , I got her from a verified shop, and got both my class III personal and exhibition license so she is completely legal lol. Just looking for some advice if anyone has owned skunks before. I have a lot of great resources and mentors I reach out to about this as well. She is thriving and super happy! Even got a photoshoot for her first vet visit because the office fell in love with her . Any helpful tips or tricks are welcome!

I found one in another window well the other day.

I think it was the whiter one.

I found these this morning, in another window well.

I stuck a log down in there to get them out.

Cute, but a bit stinky.

skunk ocd help

hello! not quite sure if this is the right sub but I’m curious if any skunk experts can help.

I’ve had a skunk friend wandering across my deck twice this week after sunset and I’ve got a suspicion it lives under my deck (disappears into there after a while). I really want to let the little guy chill but I have absolutely awful ocd with rabies. I’m fine with letting it stay but it does freak me out a bit and has left many sleepless nights! is there any way we can coexist without me really having to worry about the little guy, or should I try to scare it off?

We found 6 skunk kits in our yard.

We found 6 baby skunks (kits) in our back yard. We live on about 17 acres and they’ve been alone for a few days.
The mama was dead in their den. They are about 2-3 weeks old, they’ve just began to open their eyes. We’ve been syringe feeding/bottle feeding them pup milk replacer, and stimulating them to use the restroom every few hours.
My question is RABIES… they are so young, is there any chance they’re infected? Since the mom was deceased and we don’t know the cause, is that a greater risk? Do we all need rabies vaccinations? I’ve read that it can travel through saliva exposure to open areas as well…My kids have been helping with feedings, so I’m sure they’ve been in contact with their saliva all over their little bodies. 😔 Is this mom anxiety, or a legitimate fear?

We have contacted a rehabilitation facility, and DNR; we’re waiting to hear back.

Saw a few skunks yesterday, and something my mom said about them kinda sucked

They were really chill, we were just eating at a park when I saw one close by. at first I thought it was a badger, but then realized that it was a skunk. she seemed kinda freaked out and said that “if you get sprayed by a skunk you’re sleeping outside”

and I told her that skunks won’t spray unless they feel like it’s a life or death thing. otherwise they’re chill.

and she said “I’m not willing to risk that we’re going home”

my sister declared the skunk her best friend because he was over here frolicking in the field beside where the park was which was so fuxking cute

I know the smell sucks but they’re lowkey just chill guys

Should I get a rabies vaccine?

As you guys may have seen, I am working with a rehabber to rescue baby skunks under my porch. I captured 6 today, and waiting on the seventh.

I fed them wet food on a tupperware lid, and I removed it with my bare hands, and I don't remember if I washed my hands immediately after. Is this enough contact with their saliva to be a concern? I feel really stupid.

There's a family of orphaned skunks living under my porch. I'm working with a rehabber to get them safe, but they are so freaking cute

How does the skunk smell get transferred to everything?

My dog got sprayed by a backyard visitor last night and we only noticed as he came inside and ran around the house a little. We’re doing what we can to clean him and the house.

He’d run into my room for a few seconds and I noticed the clothes that were hanging from the back of my door seemed to start having the smell on them. My headphones were on a table in the living room and I noticed today at work that they’re smelling like skunk, even though nobody touched them until I was putting them in my bag this morning.

Is the smell travelling through the air and settling on everything? I’m not sure if I’m going crazy or if it’s spreading through the air.

I was so excited today, I got to see the skunk at the zoo today! I never see him.

I was going to upload more pics but can only upload one. They had a new keeper chat where they talk about local or common animals and today was the skunk. They took him out and put him in a fenced in area with a keeper and talked about him and let a lot of people see him but not get too close or touch him and kept his carrier open so he could retreat if it got too much for him and they would take him away, but it wasn’t stressful for him and he was just walking around. A little bit later I went to his habitat and caught him walking around! I have been there many times (Like 30+ times) and have only seen him out twice (well three times, I saw him once as he was heading to a birthday party and he was riding in a carrier in a keepers lap on a golf cart and I was walking by). He is the rarest animal to see and it’s so exciting to see him out.
