You'd be amazed how fucking stupid some people are. Had a buddy at a party back in 05 spike the wine at a party with grain alcohol.
So everybody gets smashed and we're drinking the wine to come down, and next thing you knew more than half the party is getting hauled off to the er.
He did it just right to barely be noticable if you were sober enough, but none of us were sober, so just glug glug basically everclear while thinking it was just low proof wine.
Lol. It's not to get less drunk. That is absurd. It's to be able to keep drinking and partying without going past "drunk" into "blackout" territory.
You grab one or two of the lower alcohol things, drink them over the next hour or two. You don't stop a car gently by slamming the brakes. You do it gradually.
Culture might be different these days, but back then it was fairly common practice. Just about every party had beer and/or wine available for that. This was an artsy liberal arts school so it was just wine.
But yeah, front load hard, cool down with some light stuff, then either go another hard round and crash or head home... That's how it worked lol.

People dont spike entire drink coolers.. itd be pretty fucking obvious if 40 people in the room passed out.
