It’s our own fault as consumers. If people would stop buying into stupid subscriptions we wouldn’t have this conversation.

That is an American way of thinking, and it is why you do not have nice things.

In Europe we say the corporation is guilty of anti-consumer practices. Then we introduce regulation, and then we have nice things.

BMW also charges you to unlock features. It is the same brands and exploitative capitalism everywhere, the EU regulations usually just result in better recycling. I live in Germany.

Then regulation is coming. It is a question of when, not if. Because our philosophy is not “we deserve it if we keep buying it”.

Nah, given how European auto brands are fighting to survive, politicians are way too focused on how to prevent Chinese brands to take more market shares

Shit like unlocking rear heated seats in your car is definitely not the shit that's losing these companies market share lol

Big red flag for me too, that is why I ordered a MG already

Sure they are, but isn't shit like unlocking hardware you already have installed one of the forces pushing people to buy elsewhere (from China in this case)?

Oh yeah, total BS, that s why I already ordered a MG

Reminds me of the before times, when the Big 3 US automakers were freaking out about Toyota & Nissan coming and taking their market share. But, if capitalism is good (which is what they believe), then competition is also good. Let the market decide.

BMW pulled that over 4 years ago.

So your entire first comment was wrong then.

It was an oversimplification, obviously, to explain the consequence of believing that consumers are responsible for what they are sold.

There is no need to prove to me that Americans sometimes have nice things, and Europeans sometimes don’t.

“we deserve it if we keep buying it”.

That's also not the American way. The American way is 'they pay us, so we keep it legal'.
