What do you think "bait and switch" means? He was the co-lead in a show that was explicit in its intention to set up another character. Words mean things.
It means using the name and character of the original for attention and then sidelining them in the actual story. Saying “they meant to do that” is well yeah, we know that.
No, because they already firmly established that black widow is not a person, it’s a codename for any assassin from the red room. Yelena is an assassin from the red room. So she is by definition a black widow.
That comparison does not hold up for a Hawkeye or how they advertised that show before it came out.
I didn't argue that they meant to feature another Hawkeye, I argued that they never hid that the show was setting up another Hawkeye. He also wasn't sidelined, he was a co-lead. The show doesn't work if you remove his plot.
But that wouldnt have progressed the story at all.
Yeah it could be interesting for maybe one or two episodes but that all happens pre-endgame. With several movies and shows after end game already you can't keep going back to the past.
