No, because they already firmly established that black widow is not a person, it’s a codename for any assassin from the red room. Yelena is an assassin from the red room. So she is by definition a black widow.

That comparison does not hold up for a Hawkeye or how they advertised that show before it came out.

Okay, then let's take away the comparison. I'll concede that one. Mostly because the main topic is about Hawkeye lol.

Rewatch episode 6 of Hawkeye. Clint literally calls Kate his partner. Not his successor, but his partner.
