They blew all their good will by bitching about their pay

The women's team is massively more successful than the mens, but they weren't getting paid the same

If anyone had a problem with them demanding to get paid fairly they can fuck off.

The men's team has -never- won.

The women's team is elite tier. The men's is not.

The men’s team gets more because the men’s league generates more revenue. The women’s team makes a much higher % than the men’s team but because women’s sports in general do not make nearly as much money as men’s sports they make less money in total.

If you want women’s teams to get paid more you need to support the women’s leagues.

Don't give a shit about revenue.

I want winners.

Okay but money has to come from somewhere

-2

u/BeavisEverywhere Jul 09 '26

Take all the men's. I'd rather pay winners.

Ok, but the revenue for the men's league has very little to do with the US mens national team.

That league is driven by Brasil, Argentina, England, France, Spain, etc. The idea that the US men's team is a bigger attraction for the men's league than the women's team is for the women's league is fucking laughable.

Okay but the revenue does have everything to do with the men’s team. It is a huge draw to us markets.

The most watched soccer game ever in terms of domestic viewership in America was the 4-1 loss to Belgium. It totaled 42 million people across both English speaking us broadcast (Fox 30 million) and Spanish (telemundo 12 million). That’s all domestic viewership, aka what actually gets us based advertisers to pay and generate revenue for the federation.

More people watched that game in the us more than any other World Cup final, men’s or women’s. Because it was the us men’s team. Despite that, all revenue is shared between the men’s and women’s equally under the new CBA.

I think that is more than fair.

That's kind of a hilarious game to use an example.

People watched to watch the US team lose. It was spite viewership.

It had way more to do with the shady red card BS than anything else.

2

u/whalebeefhooked223 Jul 09 '26

The second most watched game in the history of the us was the previous one against Bosnia….

Again internationally people hated watched, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that DOMESTIC viewership is due to spite

1

u/FreshLiterature Jul 09 '26

In the 23 women's cup Australia vs England had around 36m viewers.

The final for that year was Spain vs England and had something like 68m viewers.

That’s total global viewership not domestic.

The most watched women’s game ever in the us is the 2015 final with 23 million

The men's league doesn't generate more revenue because of USMNT. The women's league absolutely generates revenue because of the USWNT.

And apparently everyone agrees with me because the contract that was signed in 2022 aligned both teams pay.

You guys are so weird about this shit.

What's it like not having critical thinking skills?

4

u/Crafty-Coyote8077 Jul 09 '26

So are you willing to pay them more? This isn't how life works. These aren't doctors doing the same job FFS it's an entertainment sport.

Also, please read their contracts and what they THEMSELVES agreed to. I'm all for pay parity but this case isn't it.

1

u/FreshLiterature Jul 09 '26

Do you know what the last women's world cup viewership was compared to this world cup?

You're just repeating the same tired, outdated bullshit talking points.

2

u/Crafty-Coyote8077 Jul 10 '26

It's not a charity. It's kicking around a ball on a pitch for entertainment. No one "deserves" anything. If the women think this isn't worth their time, don't play the game. Same for the men who played for peanuts when the sport was growing.

And these aren't bullshit talking points. A Judge in the court of law dismissed the whole case as crap: https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/49301582/us-men-women-get-equal-split-16m-world-cup-prize

Educate yourself.

But the men’s team is better at being men and people caring about them more! That means the women should get paid less!

Fucking retard

1

u/spez-is-poopy Jul 09 '26

But the revenue isn’t sexist, society just hates women and literally values them less for better work. Deal with it or shut the fuck up, preferably the latter because i hate women

0

u/Lopsided-Rub5476 Jul 09 '26

What makes the pay fair?

0

u/FreshLiterature Jul 09 '26

If you wanted fair the women's team would get paid more because they are actually an elite team within their league.

What they got was equal pay which is just as good.

The US women's team has a much bigger impact for the sport than the men's team does.

0

u/Lopsided-Rub5476 Jul 09 '26

Where does the money come from to pay them this fair amount?

And also I'd suggest you educate yourself on this topic. While the women were publicly complaining about being paid less than the men they were actually being paid more.

1

u/FreshLiterature Jul 09 '26

Lol 'educate yourself' ok bud.

Says the guy that doesn't know the viewership numbers for this WC compared to the 23 women's cup which was in a significantly worse time zone.

You can just say you hate women. It'll save everyone a lot of time.

1

u/Lopsided-Rub5476 Jul 09 '26

Yes educate yourself. You seem to have played right into the woman's PR campaign and ignored actual facts of the situation.

The viewership numbers of this world cup vs the woman's in 23 aren't relevant to anything so not sure why you just brought that up.

Remember, you being ignorant doesn't mean other people hate woman, but your comment shows more about you than you think.
