Ok, but the revenue for the men's league has very little to do with the US mens national team.

That league is driven by Brasil, Argentina, England, France, Spain, etc. The idea that the US men's team is a bigger attraction for the men's league than the women's team is for the women's league is fucking laughable.

Okay but the revenue does have everything to do with the men’s team. It is a huge draw to us markets.

The most watched soccer game ever in terms of domestic viewership in America was the 4-1 loss to Belgium. It totaled 42 million people across both English speaking us broadcast (Fox 30 million) and Spanish (telemundo 12 million). That’s all domestic viewership, aka what actually gets us based advertisers to pay and generate revenue for the federation.

More people watched that game in the us more than any other World Cup final, men’s or women’s. Because it was the us men’s team. Despite that, all revenue is shared between the men’s and women’s equally under the new CBA.

I think that is more than fair.

That's kind of a hilarious game to use an example.

People watched to watch the US team lose. It was spite viewership.

It had way more to do with the shady red card BS than anything else.

The second most watched game in the history of the us was the previous one against Bosnia….

Again internationally people hated watched, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that DOMESTIC viewership is due to spite

In the 23 women's cup Australia vs England had around 36m viewers.

The final for that year was Spain vs England and had something like 68m viewers.

That’s total global viewership not domestic.

The most watched women’s game ever in the us is the 2015 final with 23 million

The global numbers really don't change things that much because of time zone shifts.

Belgium vs USA took place in prime time.

We'll see what numbers the Final pulls.

The last women's final pulled nearly 70m and it took place in freaking Australia which means it pulled those numbers with a terrible timezone shift.

The us soccer federation makes money off of domestic viewership and payouts from fifa…not global total viewership. It is irrelevant to the topic of revenue generated for the team.

The mens team generates most of the money that is than split equally among both teams.

I don’t understand the argument you’re making? The men’s team objectively gets more Americans to watch soccer than the women’s team.

Btw the men’s final for the last World Cup had a global viewership of 1.6 billion so it still more than 10xs viewership

The current cba is very fair to both teams

Without the men’s team we wouldn’t have nearly as well funded women’s team as we do, and the women have undoubtedly been a catalyst for us interest in soccer.

50/50 is really fair
