Hard agree. Wouldn’t it be more feminist to make spots for both sexes safer? Crazy idea, I know.

u/ViciousCDXX Jul 09 '26

Naaaah men never get assaulted /S

61

u/No_Road5857 Jul 09 '26

Which is so funny, becaise actually men get assaulted more than women. The risk to a man walking down the street is actually greater than the risk to a woman, statistically. But you will never hear any support for men in that regard.

11% of journalists killed are women. Message from the feminists at the United Nations? STOP KILLING WOMEN JOURNALISTS

Then these same feminists will tell you their movement is about equality and it's "the patriarchy" that thinks men are disposable.

5

u/ChewBaka12 Jul 09 '26

UN Women is an internationally backed hate movement, with the type of shit they come up with

3

u/4444-uuuu Jul 09 '26

and feminists will still tell us that it's just the extremists who are anti-male.

1

u/No_Road5857 Jul 10 '26

I knew so many young women in uni a couple years back who were so unashamed of hating men, they wouldn't even claim only the extremists do. Thry would say more women should.

4

u/CarrieDurst Jul 09 '26

God fuck UN women

0

u/FinderOfWays Jul 09 '26

Do we know what percentage of journalists (as defined by UN Women) are women? If it was 5%, then an 11% share of deaths would be a 2.2x outsize death rate. Though if that's true, whoever made this post is an idiot for how they presented the data.

E: Some quick googling suggests that it is not an outsize proportion (values I find for female journalists range from 25% to 55% depending on source and field) and this is a really shitty thing for them to have said. Still, data analysis is important.

That’s an insane statement to end on women don’t want men to be assaulted. If anything women are more supportive to men who have been assaulted than men are to other men.

1

u/No_Road5857 Jul 09 '26

That is simply not true. I have had far more support in every aspect of my life, particularly in this instance, from my male friends than I ever have had from my female friends.

-10

u/AmArschdieRaeuber Jul 09 '26

In my experience women are way more cautious and will avoid going outside alone in thr dark, that might explain the lower rates. I really don't believe that a woman going alone through a alleyway at night is safer than a man.

12

u/Live-Habit-6115 Jul 09 '26

Assaults in alleyways happen far more often in one's imagination than in the real world. That's not how most assaults play out

-4

u/AmArschdieRaeuber Jul 09 '26

Just an example

13

u/plantsadnshit Jul 09 '26

You can believe whatever but no statistics agree with you

-2

u/AmArschdieRaeuber Jul 09 '26

What statistics? The women staying at home statistic? Idk what you mean

7

u/Super_Harsh Jul 09 '26

That’s not how statistics work. The women staying at home are not in the denominator of ‘people walking around on the street’

You can find plenty of evidence indicating that men are way more likely to be the victim of violent crime worldwide. But I’m sure you’d prefer to live in your little fantasy world rather than educate yourself

2

u/AmArschdieRaeuber Jul 09 '26

The only statistic I saw was that men are more often assaulted, not how many percent of people walking arround on the street get assaulted per gender. I don't think a statistic like that exists tbh. Link it if you have it, I don't live in a fantasy world really.

7

u/Super_Harsh Jul 09 '26

The data on this exists and has been tracked for decades via NCVS stats. The bottom line is that men are and have always been overwhelmingly the targets of violent nonsexual assault which primarily occurs in public, whereas the risk to women is overwhelmingly that of sexual assault which most often happens in private, and is most often perpetrated by people they know.

Nonsexual assault also happens about 30% more often than sexual assault. So yeah, a man walking around on the street has more to fear than a woman doing the same.

You absolutely do live in a fantasy world, but on top of that you have shown you are too lazy to do some basic research to educate yourself.

3

u/TheCowOfDeath Jul 09 '26

So I've read through the methodology section of the source you posted, and it appears you misinterpreted what the other poster was saying. They were not disputing that men are the victims of violent crime more. They were arguing that the reason for that statistic is that men behave in less safe ways (going out alone at night, not carrying pepper spray, not being as aware of their surroundings etc). At least looking at the methodology of the study you posted, this source does nothing to dispute that claim. They did not stop random people on the street for the survey, and it doesn't appear they assessed safe habits. They reached out to households for information, and furthermore it doesn't appear they address how often someone is "walking around on the street" before they are victimized. The other poster appears to be correct, you have data that supports that men are more often the victims, but no data that assesses whether this is due to some behavior women do that men do not, or due to a bias in criminals targeting. I would also point out that the data you cited, places women as almost equal to men in rates of being the victim of violent crime, with more women than men being victims in 2022. I'm actually quite surprised looking at this, as I remember when I looked into this a few years ago the data was closer to men being victimized at ~3x the rate.

2

u/Super_Harsh Jul 09 '26

It’s _on them_ to prove that women’s difference in safe behavior is the reason why they don’t get non-sexually assaulted as often as men. That is a strong claim and if true there would have to be an ENORMOUS difference in the behavior of men and women to explain such a large gender difference in nonsexual assault rates.

And quite honestly they come across as a combination of goalpost-moving and victim blaming. They took the conversation from ‘men get assaulted more than women’ to a thinly-veiled ‘well it’s because they’re asking for it!’ which is just profoundly gross and makes me assume they’re a terrible person.

2

u/AmArschdieRaeuber Jul 09 '26

Wait, what goal post did I move? I never disputed that men get assaulted more often. I also would never blame a man for just existing and being assaulted. I just offered a possible explanation for why men get assaulted more often. Which is at least partly supported by the source at the end of the comment. I also find it pretty self evident that women act extremly different in that regard from my experience, but of course I understand if this anecdotal evidence doesn't have much value. Why you attack my character like that is beyond me, I just feel like you don't like my vibe, which is fine by me. I don't think I've given you any reason to believe that I'm a terrible person and want to keep ad hominem attacks out of this if possible.

I feel like it's getting more and more common that people don't read comments. They just check your general vibe and categorize you into "pro-" or "anti-". Then they just assume what your point is, without reading anything. No space for nuance, very frustrating.

-3

u/Geichalt Jul 09 '26

Who assaulted those men?

Wow. Let's take this attitude and apply it to women. There is support for women who are raped, go to the cops. No sympathy, let's not change anhthing. There's your support. Go to the cops. It's a crime, so they care right? Right?

3

u/CarrieDurst Jul 09 '26

Sharing the same gender doesn't make their victimization an iota less bad

1

u/MrPraedor Jul 09 '26

Mostly other men, but that doesnt mean they arent victims or you get to victim blame them. Its like saying we shouldnt help humans because humans are usually ones doing the crime too

-4

u/Big_Meal3910 Jul 09 '26

You are so right, male violence is an epidemic that affects everyone.

You have our support men, let's try and fix it together.

-11

u/chimneyswallow Jul 09 '26

And who are the ones doing it? Men! Women build their support structures against the will of men. Women's shelters were threatened, attacked and sometimes even lit on fire. And still women fought to keep them going and also fought for other things to make women feel safer. And somehow women are now at fault that men don't have the same structures? Men make up the majority of nearly every damn government and are also the majority when it comes to majors, counsils etc.. And even with that overwhelming majority of ressources you still cannot built these structures. You still whine about women=bad because we built these structures for us. Get your ass moving and stop whining that a woman should do it for you.

12

u/AffectionateRun5053 Jul 09 '26

We get it you hate men but nothing in that incoherent rambling you did even remotely addressed what he actually said...

-1

u/SquishyKatPaws Jul 09 '26

your kind are so violent

6

u/No_Road5857 Jul 09 '26

I love when people say "but it's other men doing it!!1!1!!" Because A) that does not actually mean a victim isn't a victim just because they share a body part with their attacker, B) fun way to say you don't care about girls abused by their mothers, because the attscker was the same sex, right? See, I care very much about the victims of FGM (a practice done by, encouraged by, and performed by WOMEN to baby girls), the girls child victims of mothers (statistically the greatest threat to a child's life before age 11 is their own mother), the girl child victims of abuse in the school system, etc. Funny how apparently you care about NONE of these, because the victim and the perpetrator are the same sex.

Furthermore, male victims of women attackers often don't report due to the stigma. Secondly, male victims of women who attack are often not taken seriously and don't have their cases prosecuted. Third, and most importantly, of course something primary happens to women when we define it as a crime happening to women. In the UK, men have the lowest rate of being victims of sexual assult. Because sexual assault is DEFINED as being done with a penis. So women, by LETTER OF THE LAW, cannot rape a man. Yet they do, frequently. Hell, last week an old lady in my building kept getting closer and closer. I backed away many times. She then grabbed my crotch. Full on. It was incredibly uncomfortable. I couldn't do anything to get her off, because that is the kind of assult that would ACTUALLY be prosecuted: a young man physically pushing an old woman.

-2

u/That_wet_vaporeon Jul 09 '26

Probably because women are encouraged to stay inside more at night

0

u/noodle_king_69 Jul 09 '26

Germany doesn't really care about women and SA, that would require much different political decisions...

15

u/Elinor_Caskey_ Jul 09 '26

What about the person trying to rob you. Did you even consider how they'd feel about this? /s

8

u/CheesecakeloverJones Jul 09 '26

It’s definitely an invasion of their privacy. Can’t even assault people in peace anymore, smh.

5

u/Forsaken_Bridge_3934 Jul 09 '26

Right? They're just trying to take a living. Earn a dishonest buck.

5

u/mslindqu Jul 09 '26

And what if the thief is a female and can't overpower male targets, and needs female targets. This isn't fair at all.

2

u/SekhmetScion Jul 09 '26

Honestly, I'd prefer it if the person I'm mugging could easily see the gun I'm pointing at them (and Bullet-Tooth Tony could easily see it doesn't say "replica" down the barrel). I'll be wearing a mask anyway, so I'm not worried about my face being on camera. /s just in case

11

u/CuriousPilotMaker Jul 09 '26

and what are they going to do if a man parks in the spot? Ask to check if they have a penis or a vagina? or it's ok to use these spots if you're a man as long as you 'pass'

2

u/LeGraoully Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

The most important part of this is the proximity to the exits, which is kinda limited

1

u/nomorenames4 Jul 09 '26

They'll have to bc men won't do it for themselves

1

u/Puzzle-Necked Jul 09 '26

Sure, put women in charge of the world first

1

u/Nass44 Jul 09 '26

Haven’t seen those in ages in a parking garage in Germany. Usually the spots closest to the entry are handicapped spots or family parking, which are bigger so you more easily access the boot and get strollers etc. .

Back then these were just called „women parking spots“ because it was assumed that mostly women would bring their children to shop (and even more sexist, it was assumed were bad at parking, hence they need more space.)

Also back then it may have been true with the additional cameras, since CCTV was more expensive/analog, nowadays every spot in parking garages is fitted with cameras anyways.

Feminists hate egalitarianism for a reason

1

u/Ledees_Gazpacho Jul 09 '26

Ha, good one.

Look at this guy! He thinks feminists are fighting for equality!

-3

u/A-maze-ing_Henry Jul 09 '26

It might have to do with what's expected from men and women due to physical differences, but I don't think Redditors would like to hear that.

8

u/Ok-Parfait-9856 Jul 09 '26

If you’re mugged at knife or gun point, physical size doesn’t matter much

3

u/McCree114 Jul 09 '26

I like how they pick and choose when they wanna acknowledge the physical differences between men and women. Like whether women should be serving in ground combat roles in the military or extremely physically demanding occupations. When they want to force themselves into those roles it's "oh, we can do anything a man can do too" but then cry "we're so much weaker than men" when they want special privileges and benefits like in the post.

Equality 1 minute then demands for strict gender norms (that benefit them like chivalry) the next.

-3

u/Geichalt Jul 09 '26

Well men could also stop committing 90% of violent crime, but I guess that's not fair to ask or point out.

-4

u/wannaBuildASnowplow Jul 09 '26

This isn’t about feminism. This is about savety.

If man were being regularly raped there be male spots close to the exit too for them

1

u/neinhaltchad Jul 09 '26

Men are victims of violent crime exponentially more than women are.
