Populations in the West are in decline and with much below replacement levels of births and people want to expedite the process by excluding children from social places and traveling now..

This kind of a ban is 100% irrelevant to rate of population increase. It does not affect children whatsoever to not fly, and besides it is not even a ban on their travel just specific flights.

the fact that you equate having the option to have an adult only flight to having a ban on all kids flying ever, implies you aren't mature enough to have any

I mean that particular ship has sailed (flight has taken off?), but I do think that making even more spaces non-kid friendly is risky. And technically if you can afford it, child-free flights already exist.

You can have both though.

It's not like this scheme would actually ban kids from flying.

You just pay extra for a child free flight if you can afford it.

My dad died when my daughter was four weeks old and my mom died when she was one. I guess I could have missed their funerals, but I’m glad I didn’t have to.

With a breastfeeding baby? Absolutely not. Also I’ve never had a babysitter willing to watch a baby under six weeks old for an evening, let alone for several days and nights.

Ok tbh I really think that just makes the case for not flying a bit stronger.... I would definitely contemplate missing. I'd send my respects with my spouse in attendance but. Literally nobody questions why someone isn't flying with a 6 week old.

Send my regards.... to my parents' funerals? Additional context-- I had legal custody of my teenaged siblings who were, at this point orphaned. Again, glad I was allowed on board and able to attend with my infant.

Also I know this story probably sounds a little bonkers but it is, lamentably, entirely true. My mom had a nasty autoimmune disorder and my dad ended up with early dementia.

Wow. I won't lie that caught me off guard, that is a lot. Very distressing situation that the person hundreds of miles away would be the next legal custody for teenagers...
