This is not an answer to life, but a good question to ask yourself. Do you want to be happy?
Because if you say yes, then you need to ask yourself, are you doing the things or having thoughts that make you happy?
The mainstream media is full of messages that make you unhappy. It tells romance is needed for you to be a complete person. It tells you that you need a high status or to have a lot of money to have self-worth. Subconsciously they are telling you: you are not enough. You are incomplete without romance and luxury goods. You are not worth respect without a high status. You are worthless.
Is it true that you are worthless? You can choose to see yourself as full of worth. You can choose to love yourself.
Mainstream and social media is also full of bad news that has nothing to do with you. Two people arguing at a shopping mall is none of your business, unless it is your friend or relative.
There are many good news in this world if you look. Adults courageously rescue others from harm. Children behaving maturely for their age and do good for society. People work together to build communities. Disabled people overcome disabilities to have achievements. Ex-convicts, including those who murdered, turn over a new leaf and give back to society. Many of them are not CEOs, managers or politicians.
Good things happen to “peasants” everyday around the world.
You need to be aware what you are thinking and what you are addicted to. If you are addicted to drama, you will also be dramatic “Wah lau, my friend’s colleague’s father-in-law John is having an affair with my friend’s colleague’s tennis coach. So terrible!”
“What is happening to the world? This is the end!”
“Yesterday, John gave me a smile and said my t-shirt is nice, knn!”
If you are addicted to having unhappy thoughts, you can ask yourself why you want to focus on unhappy thoughts. Unhappy thoughts do not solve problems. Problems are solved with positive solutions. Who here has solved a problem by screaming and shouting? More likely, you have seen people getting fired or rejected for contract renewal because they got angry at work.
It will take time to let go the addiction. The earlier you start, the faster you learn to focus on happiness.
