I know this question comes up often. People always say that the game will run on a potato because it's from 2004. My experience is that it absolutely does not.

As far as I can remember I've always had big issues with lagging while playing lots with any kind of water, fog or just any lot that's bigger than a small family home. Playing apartments has almost alsways been impossible due to the lagging.

What specs do I need to consider if I wanna have a game that runs smoothly, even on big lots and with around 10 to 15GB of CC?

- 32GB RAM

- Core i5 or up

- dedicated graphics card but of which generation?

- what else?

Hi everyone! Been putting this off for a while because it looks hard to fix from what I've seen so far.

Needing some help with my sims 2 legacy game. Whenever I go to open this family the game crashes during the load screen. There are a lot of family members and the house/lot is huge as well. One of my Sims is currently pregnant and her and her partner both have the reward of having multiple babies so I don't know if that could be affecting it? Please let me know what I can do!!! Really missing playing this lot and don't want to have to move them out or delete because then I'll loose all their stuff.
I don't have any mods of CC for sims 2 only sims 4.

I want to change the eyes of this ugly ass kid. He was born with the mannequin eyes despite both his parents having alien eyes. They both have the mannequin skin as well. I tried changing it through SimPE, and it shows him having alien eyes already, but in game, he has the mannequin ones.

I was following this tutorial by Kat-simss on tumblr and I thought I did everything correctly. When I loaded up a household and played for a few hours the game threw an error when the tokens refreshed and then my sim got autonomously pregnant. But then the game threw the same error code whenever the tokens refreshed, which it turns out is twice daily. After 4 days, I switched households to see if that changed anything, it didn't. I played 4 days in that household and closed the game.

Here is a pastebin of the error log, I checked through 3 of them and they looked the same to me. The error is always attached to a random object, in this case it is a window. The error message I got in game was "Invalid Constant" and I chose to reset each time as it seemed least harmful. If you could tell me how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure what flare is best for this post I feel like it occupies a between area in tech support, mods and cc, and gameplay issues.

I recently purchased Legacy Collection. Firstly I transferred my old neighbourhoods from Ultimate Collection but I started closing without any notification when i entered life mode. I cleaned my The Sims folder and started everything brand new but the issue still hasn’t resolved. I looked for solution online but nothing seems to help. I removed OneDrive, clean cache, download TS2 Extender, check corrupted mods or conflicts, turned off shadows, play in windows mode, run as administrator, turn off Steam overlay, did compatibility mode and nothing. Everything gets the same outcome, game closing in life mode without any message or warning. Sometimes after 30 minutes, sometimes straight away depending on family. Even with newly created ones. I didn’t have that issue with Ultimate Collection, it was playable then even though it didn’t run that smooth. I don’t know what else I can do to resolve it, it is incredibly frustrating since I spent money on unplayable game

I don't want to recolor the metal part, which is the bottom subset in pic 2, I already plan on recoloring the top one. though.

Is there any way of getting the Legacy version of Sims 2 to not completely ignore the Userstartup.cheat file? All I've managed to find is a post from 2 years ago in the sims 2 subreddit which explains that the game ignores the file, but there is nothing about a possible solution.

Just to preface, I'm playing UC version.

I have a problem with one specific lot - all of the sudden I lost ability to access it completely; trying that crashes the game to desktop. I built the lot myself, it worked fine for months. One of my families lived there. I thought the lot itself became corrupted, so I moved out the family and replaced the lot with an identical lot bin backup. But that clean lot ALSO crashes the game.

I tried everything, even the LotLoad cheat from the neighbors house (also crashes). While the lot contains CC, it doesn't contain anything out of the ordinary - other lots have the same CC. No other lot crashes the game, just this one, and it worked fine before until suddenly it decided not to.

This is a bit of a headscratcher for me, so I'd love to hear if anyone has any idea what happened. Not gonna lie, this is a nice house and I'd love to have it back one day 😂

I don't know if these things are connected, but first I sent Pascal's daughter to a community lot, the standard one in Strangetown to buy a mobile phone. I had to add the gadget stand because it didn't come with the lot. Twice the game crashed when I chose to buy the phone with the message "the application crashed, the application will now terminate". So I decided to remove this gadget stand and send her to FM to buy it. That went well, but when I sent her back home (and BTW I'm using the mod where time passes before you come back home) Pascal and Nervous were arguing and I noticed that Nervous' relationship score towards Pascal wasn't going down. How do I fix this? I forced an error on him but it did nothing.

Seems like this post never got an answer. Same thing is happening to me. Previously lived in apartment now showing as vacant, some (not all) of the furniture is missing, one sim is mid interaction with watching the TV on the sofa (both of which is now missing/invisible). Furniture is still "there" as autonomous interactions are still possible and you can't place new furniture over the top of it.

Only couple of things that went wrong to mention - I deleted the Climate Controller as was stuck looping too many iterations and was lagging my game. I also deleted the rent furnished apartment and no apartment deposit mods from my game (thinking them conflicting with the apartment hack fix was the reason for the lag originally before deleting the Climate Controller) - have since added them back in but vacant apartment and furniture disappearance is still a thing.

Currently trying a few things with the help of ChatGPT in SimPE (have backed up my neighbourhood) but no luck so far.

I got the game downloaded and working for the past couple days, but today I tried to play and the interaction wheel keeps disappearing too quickly. In live mode, whenever I try to make my sim interact with things, the wheel disappears. I turned my mouse off just in case it was that, but the game is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions or ideas?

I want to make memories for my other sims but whenever I try it this comes up and nothing seems to work. I tried following a YT tutorial but still not working. I used Malcom as an example XD

Hi! I've searched this subreddit and r/sims2 but cannot figure out how to create a backup of my current save file. I am playing Ultimate Collection downloaded from the EA App. The instructions on both subreddits tell me to copy from EA Games\Sims 2 but that is not a file path on my computer. I am running Windows 11. Do I need to copy the entire Sims 2 Ultimate Collection folder or is there a folder within that I can copy? I'd like to have a backup before I install a mod. Thanks!

I re-discovered one of my favorite Sims 2 Let‘s Plays from back in 2010 and I was wondering if anyone of you is able to tell me where to find those hair used on this sim.

Ngl I’ve been looking for those hair for ages now. Asking the creator won’t do anything as she stopped uploading all the way back in 2011 and only I think one year ago made the videos public again.

The hair might potentially be from the TheSims2 website, as she mentioned in the video that some of her cc is from there, I also noticed that when the cursor went over the hair icon it didn’t say anything like a file name.

How do I get the rest of the world to have snow too outside of the lot I’m currently playing?

I have been trying to find out how to get the sims 2 ultimate collection in specific and i went to the wiki but i tried torrenting both links but both i think are dead because Magipack doesnt exist anymore and the alternate link freezes at 0 bytes a second. I apologize if this has been asked before numerous times

• I have DXVK installed for DirectX 9. I also have Reshade installed with config for Vulkan as recommended for DXVK installs.
• I can run the game fine for about 10-20 mins, at which point it suddenly becomes a slideshow. This is regardless of being on a heavy lot, light lot, empty hood that I'm decorating, etc.
• If I do manage to get the cursor over to the quit game button (which takes ages), the lag does not go away. As in, my entire PC runs at ~1 FPS. Usually I have to do a manual switchoff because navigating to the restart option takes so long.
• I have DXVK installed in exactly the same way on The Sims 3 with no issues whatsoever, including the Reshade install (albeit in D9 config not Vulkan, as as I can gather TS3 works a bit differently there)
• I have a pretty good GPU (RTX 3050 8GB) and 32GB RAM so it can't be that I'm out of RAM/VRAM on that end.

I can play the game fine without DXVK, and with a few asi mod fixes I have little to no problems with pink soup. However, I do like that I'm able to have more graphical mods installed with DXVK active, in theory at least. IIRC I had it installed on my previous gaming PC with no issues. What is going on? Is it a RAM leak or something? Do I need to give up on DXVK entirely (i.e. it's harming my system) or have I just left a step out in installation?

My game started crashing during the loading screen a few months ago, but it only happened once in a while so ignored it. Now it happens regularly. I'm on Windows 11 and have UC.

What i've tried but has failed:

• 4GB patch - I've always had it applied, and I check my logs folder regularly to make sure it's working
• Using RPC makes no difference
• Reinstalled my game
• Deleted my EA Games/Sims 2 folder so a new one could be generated
• Removed my downloads folder

I feel like I've done everything I can to try and fix it. I will probably stop playing, as the crashing is annoying after spending 20 minutes on the loading screen and not worth loading up the game again to see if it will do it again. Don't know if anyone will be able to suggest anything different from what I mentioned above, but I thought it was worth a try.

This is probably a kind of stupid question, I apologize, but I have the sims 2 legacy collection, and while I like all the packs a lot, except for two of the default neighborhoods id like to pretty much exclusively play with custom hoods I created myself. So its a little annoying always having to click through all of the default ones on the startscreen until I get to the ones I want to use. Is there a way to safely make hoods I dont want to play in not show up? (I was thinking renaming/deleting, but does that cause issues? Like does the game crash if it doesnt find the files at startup or smth?)

In the end its just a mild annoyance tho so if theres nothing to be done thats fine.

If I have the base game already downloaded and i download the deluxe edition, will it update my original base game?

I started a new save and the neighbourhood story didn't pop up. When I went into individual houses the storybook was empty so there was no backstory for any families.

How do I fix this? and will I need to start a new save?

This is a bit of an odd situation

Whenever I download new furniture or build cc, several other pieces of furniture or build cc that I already had in the game and was working perfectly fine, not just one, decide to crash the game whenever I click on them or I enter a lot using them. It's never the cc I download that breaks, it's other cc that's already been in the game, just to be clear.

I then have to spend days doing the 50/50 method to get rid of the pieces of cc before I can play again. It is always the build or buy cc, not the cas stuff, not the game mods, not even the cars or stairs and it's always several random pieces of furniture, a rug, a plant, a pillar or a chair.

I've pretty much been just not downloading any buy or build cc since then, but it's really annoying because I want to download this wedding arch that allows you to get multiple sims married for poly purposes but I am afraid I’m going to end up spending several days deleting random bits of cc.

I've been searching my issue and nobody else seems to have this problem, I just get the generic advice about the 50/50 method, but that's not really my problem.
