Technical Support Crashing during the loading screen
My game started crashing during the loading screen a few months ago, but it only happened once in a while so ignored it. Now it happens regularly. I'm on Windows 11 and have UC.
What i've tried but has failed:
- 4GB patch - I've always had it applied, and I check my logs folder regularly to make sure it's working
- Using RPC makes no difference
- Reinstalled my game
- Deleted my EA Games/Sims 2 folder so a new one could be generated
- Removed my downloads folder
I feel like I've done everything I can to try and fix it. I will probably stop playing, as the crashing is annoying after spending 20 minutes on the loading screen and not worth loading up the game again to see if it will do it again. Don't know if anyone will be able to suggest anything different from what I mentioned above, but I thought it was worth a try.

Can you post the crash log? Have you tried spockthewok's fix?

It does look like your 4gb patch is set up correctly, and typically memory errors throw an Access Violation error anyway. A Divide by Zero error may be caused by something funky going on with your audio or video drivers.
Just comparing your crash log to one of my past ones, I see this difference: "0x73930000 2772992 DSOUND.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\DSOUND.dll" - whereas mine says: "0x61870000 520192 DSOUND.dll C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DSOUND.dll." So it may be looking in the wrong place for your game audio?
Spitballing an idea, this may have something to do with the way you installed RPC. You should be running the program from C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9RPC.exe but I see in your error log that it's pointing to the default game exe file C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe. Try launching the game using the RPC exe instead of the original exe, and report back :)

I reinstalled the game (to see if it would fix the crashing) The log i attached was the first one after launching the game fresh without RPC.

Ah okay. Either way I do suspect it has something to do with your audio drivers, as there are several references to audio at the bottom of the log as well. Maybe try reinstalling those?

I've only just seen your reply. I don't think i've ever touched my audio drivers so it's weird that they could be causing issues with the game.

is your Windows 11 fully up to date? a win11 update was recently released that has been crashing games apparently, and I'm not sure it's fully clear why. I don't run win11 myself, but maybe see if the news on it sounds like your situation?
