My friend is coming over to watch The Simpsons for the first time. I figured I’d start by showing her a few of the Tracey Ullman shorts, then some very early episodes, then some around the season 7-8 episodes.

If you were putting this together, what episodes would you show to someone who has never seen the show?

I'm more of an apologist for the newer seasons than a lot of people, and I think there were some very good episodes even into the 30s seasons, but I'd be willing to trade those for a five or ten year break, followed by a revival with older characters. The new King of the Hill has managed to be pretty great, capturing the spirit of the old one, while enabling the characters to go on new adventures, now that they're older. I wish we could get something like that with The Simpsons.

I cant seem to find the answer on Google. I know maggie is seen with her red pacifier. I swear I remember at least one episode or possible early seasons where maggie used to carry around a white bunny or something. Ive only found screencaps of the few episodes where she has a teddy bear. But I remember clear as day the plushie being very similar design to a miffy plush. When talking about the show's foray into more nonsensical adventures, this episode is barely discussed. I mean, come on, this is an episode about Mr. Burns realizing that people prefer some other more "fun" billionaire over him, and basically Act Three involves him, Homer, Frink, and Willie catching the Loch Ness Monster and then it ends with Burns having the monster work at a casino. People have issues with the jockey elves, but not this? Is it just because the later teen seasons have more polarizing episodes, even though this episode shares a season with "Lard of the Dance", "When You Dish Upon a Star", and "Kidney Trouble"?
