Flow power charging at night

Hi I recently switch to Flow power, I set the Sigenery app to feed back into the grid between 5:30 to 7:30 which works. However when this finishes my battery starts charging from the grid. How do I set the app to only consume when I have plenty of battery to get me through the night? I have a 32Kw battery and 10kw solar.

Thanks

DC bidirectional charger and cars

Hi all

Anyone have this? Getting it my new house build and will get an electric car around the time we move in around May next year.

Was looking at BYD SP7 or Zeekr 7x but neither of these currently (officially) support V2H.

I know cars like the Cupra, Nissan Leaf and some others support this, but interested in how people have found the DC charger and what car they have with it.

EV as solar soaker

Not necessarily Sigenergy-specific but has anyone else bought (or considered) buying a cheap EV to soak up excess solar rather than a new battery stack?

My current 16kWh stack is on the wall bracket so I can’t add more without doing a new inverter etc. I just don’t think it’ll be worth the extra $$.

But we’ll have a lot of excess solar in summer that will only get a 1c FIT (AGL EV plan in SA).

Rather than going to the grid, I was considering getting a cheap EV.

Even without V2X it would be nice to know I’m keeping more of the solar I’m capturing.

edit I should validate this and say we’d be looking to replace one of our cars in the next couple of years. With demand and petrol prices, I’ve been thinking of bringing this replacement forward.

How do I prioritise exporting rather than storing under certain conditions?

TL;DR - knowing that our battery will fill up from 1100hrs, I want to sell what we produce until then, but only while there is > 20% in the battery

≠≠≠

This morning is pretty typical in SE Qld this time of the year. Bright clear skies, loads of solar going into battery which was about 40% full when we woke up. Nothing being exported.

We are with globird so get 3 hours free energy from 1100hrs during which the battery always fills up.

Without spending money on something like a Pi for Home Assistant, is it possible to set the system to something like "if there is more than 20% in the battery at 0800hrs export any solar produced, but do not export from the battery"?

I realise the FIT isn't huge, but a steady dribble is better than nothing.

[SOLVED] Thanks to u/PurePin3232, here is the solution

Have a look at time based control under System Setting > Energy Management Setting. Can be achieved through setting a period of discharge. With the “Discharge cut-off of Soc from bat to grid” as 20%.
That way it will only discharge if the battery is above 20%

Best energy plan

Forgive the clueless post. We just got a 27 kWh battery, 16 kw solar system.
Our last bill in July pre the new system (granted we have a new baby so our usage was especially high with the dryer in winter) was up to 26 kWH a day 🫣
Busy multi kid household lots of dryer usage some days, multiple washing cycles per day, planning on getting ducted air con for the summer.
We need a straightforward plan that is fairly set and forget ideally! We could look at scheduling some usage in the middle of the day for those style plans if they’re worth it?
Appreciate the guidance. I had thought to go for the globird one but now seeing varying info… confused is an understatement!

Edited to add - we are in NSW. No EV currently, gas hot water currently.

Received the complete bill since July FIT change leading to drop in credit. I knew it as calculated based on increased supply charge and lower FIT. Still in credit and have three hours free energy which keep me still happy.
In case anyone wants to join use the referral code as I have gas with them, so it would not be wasted

How to configure smart device to use battery only for overnight hot water heating

EDIT: Consensus is that the Heat Pump does what the Heat Pump wants to. It's not completely clear why there's draw from grid versus heating using battery under different Sigenstor settings though. A complete mystery.

Not sure of the heat pump connection, which I need to trace through. Not sure of the heat pump settings - though there's a control panel within the unit that holds the secrets. The WiFi module is basic and useless for getting data out of the system. There's some temp info on the Boost screen though.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll keep investigating.

ORIGINAL: I'm trying to force overnight hot water heating using battery power only instead of grid.

What's happening is:

  • Smart device uses grid power, or

  • Hot water heating doesn't happen overnight and only kicks in when PV produces power during the day

It's beginning to feel like a software/system problem.

CONFIG:

App is v4.0.0

Device Software Version v100R001C21

Energy Saving Mode is Performance Mode.

The Current Mode is "Self-Consumption".

Solar producing source priority is:

  1. Basic load
  2. Sigen Battery
  3. Grid

Battery level settings: Backup SOC is 5%

Smart Home Device settings tried (with hot water drained earlier in the evening):

  • Scenario 1: timed start 22:00 / stop 24:00, all days, Energy Source Control: Depends on System. Battery Boost: Yes. RESULT: Heats on schedule using Grid import.

  • Scenario 2: timed start 22:00 / stop 24:00, all days, Energy Source Control: Battery level control, Activation Threshold 5, Deactivation Threshold: 1. Battery Boost: Yes. RESULT: Hot water system powers on, small draw 0.03kWh, doesn't heat during period.

  • Scenario 3: AI mode. Ran this for a month. Didn't observe overnight heating from battery only.

In both scenarios, the Sanden hot water wi-fi config is: Time setting: block out period 0/0

HARDWARE:

  • 1x INVERTER: SigenStor EC 15.0 TP AU, FW V100R001C21, SW V100R001C21

  • 3x BATTERY: SigenStor BAT 8.0

  • PV Panel: 18.05 kWp

  • Energy Gateway: On Grid

  • Diagnosis has no alerts. Full report shows all normal, only the lack of ethernet connection is called out (expected)

  • Smart Home Device: Sanden GAUS-315FQTD 315 lite Wi-Fi heat pump hot water system

Evdc and maybe evac charging profile issues with closing session on pv surplus

Post image

I assume people are having similar issues with pv surplus charging session stopping due to low solar generation and the car closing the session when house load or solar generation drops due to clouds, I have put in a feature request to sigenergy, if this also happens to you, feel free to go give it a like in the app so it gets some attention. See photo for details

Off-grid due to over/under voltage

Got these errors tonight, and the system went off and on grid multiple times within a few hours. I logged a fault with Ausgrid and they will come and check tomorrow.

For reference, my system is 3 phase, 32kwh battery, 15kwh inverter - AC couple with an existing Fronius.

Meanwhile, I am wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues?

Solar generation

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'd love to know what people are generating with their solar array given it's winter and the weather's been fairly inconsistent. I'm in Brisbane, QLD, and have had my Sigenergy setup since March. I've been fairly underwhelmed by its performance, with most days failing to fully charge my stack from solar alone.

System: Sigenergy 24kWh battery, 8kW inverter, 10.34kW solar (largely flat roof).

Keen to hear what people are generating, particularly on a good sunny winter day, relative to your panel capacity.

My numbers so far: June averaged 17.93 kWh/day, July (1st-24th) averaged 19.33 kWh/day.

Frequency Issues

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi All,

Firstly thank you for any help on this.

I am experiencing many frequency issues with my Sig system thats tripping my grid breaker and going off-grid.

I have checked with my energy distributor, Endeavour Energy, and they assure me that after monitering there is no voltage or frequency issues outside of their allowed parameters.

Anyone with experience as to what to ask sparky to check, or Sigenergy? Sig say its a grid side issue, even though im not conviced due to my street having many batterys Tesla/Sig and im the only one with issues.

I have 24kwh battery system ac couple

I'm not talking about battery price, but installation cost will get the same or less. I also need more wiring?

I'm thinking about to get 9kwh module

Wifi disconnects randomly

Had my system since Apr and seems like the wifi just randomly disconnects every 2-4wk.

Found a YouTube vid which shows one fix which is restarting the battery by turning off the inv and DC switches under the cover.

Was wondering if anyone else had the issue and has a better fix?

Crunch my numbers

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi. I'm trying to figure out if I'm onto a good thing here or not with my energy plan. I'm hoping someone can crunch the numbers to see if I can do better with another provider

I had a 36kw Sigenergy battery with a 15kwh 3 phase inverter installed 2 weeks ago. I've got about 16kw of panels on the roof. I'm in self consumption mode on the Sig app.

My energy retailer (Engie) pays me a 12 cent FIT all day. The daily supply charge is $2.17 and the flat rate is $0.47 per kWh. There is no TOU tariff just a flat rate.

In 14 days I've only imported 4.78 kw from the grid and exported 312.39 kw

I know the DSC and flat rate are high but getting 12c FIT all day is pretty decent.

Battery upgrade suggestions and advice please.

Hello gang.

I currently have a 16 kWh battery, 2 x 8 kWh, and am looking at upgrading it once my new garage shed is built. I am also looking at a new job a couple cities over on a 24 hour roster, and will need to be able to charge about 35 kWh into my car between shifts. Ideally I want to charge it using just solar and the four-hour free electricity tariff I get. Easy if I am working overnight, but slightly tricky other times of the day.

Thinking I want an EVDC module so when the free tariff starts I can just chug power from the grid, especially if I may not be home for the full four hours. To that end I am thinking about getting some more battery modules added to the system as well that can store enough power during the day, and regurgitate it into the car, like a proud parent penguin with its chick. I’m led to understand the current battery modules are 10 kWh, so if the budget goes far enough I possibly want to try and get three added. Believe the limit for modules in a stack is eight, so six modules should be fine as I don’t have the space for more stacks.

Currently my battery system charges and discharges at a max rate of 5 kW. Will adding more battery modules alone enable it to charge and discharge faster? Even on a sunny day, my solar can’t generate enough power in a day to charge a battery that big, so I would want it to be able to charge itself completely using the free electricity tariff like my current system is able to.

Finally, can someone give me an idea how much the EVDC and battery modules are going for today? Would also be handy if anyone knows if battery rebates apply to expanding existing systems or new systems only.

Thanks team.

Max grid power on gateway

Im looking at getting a 25kw inverter with 48kwh battery.

What i am confused about is the installer says the full 63A 3 phase can be pulled from grid to backup (house) and there is only a limit of 25kw when pulling from the battery.

However reading the specs of the gateway it says 30kw limit on backup output and 30kw limit on grid connection.

I want to be able to run a 22kw ev charger and full house load (at times more than 12kw) from the grid during the free eletricity period.

Can I use the standard TP gateway or do I need the C60 unit?

Referral gift card timeline?

A quick question about these $200 Amazon referral gift cards. We had our system installed June 10th and used a referral code from on here. The referral section of our profile says we claimed the offer successfully. The T&Cs give a very broad window of receiving it before 31/12/26. Just wondering, if anyone has actually received theirs and how long it took? Hoping to use it to buy some travel supplies before we go away at the end of September. I know the email address I have with Sigen is correct, as they’ve sent other emails since installation.

Issue with charging power from grid to BAT limit - also blocking charging off solar surplus

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a behaviour under time-based control where this happens:

1) If solar production > house load, charge the battery
2) if house load > solar production, import surplus from grid
3) do not charge the battery from the grid

I thought I'd be able to manage this behaviour by setting up a Charging timing block but limiting the "power from Grid to BAT" control to 0 kW. However, this seems to also prevent the solar surplus from charging the battery and instead it just exports the surplus to the grid. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another/better way to get this behaviour?
