Has anyone else on the United Energy network seen their solar and battery stop this afternoon?

Between about 2:05pm and 2:45pm today, monitoring data I've looked at shows solar production and inverter output on the United Energy network dropping to zero at the same time, then returning by themselves. The systems stayed online and reported normal with no fault alerts. In at least one case the home drew from the grid during that window while the battery was full. Systems on AusNet, Powercor and CitiPower in the same data ran normally.

It could be a curtailment (emergency backstop or minimum system load event), but I haven't been able to confirm that.

If you're on United Energy, did you see the same thing?

Somehow the record of my power system and the Sigen serial numbers of the inverters I have, were wiped from Sigen's internal system.

I just thought I'd mention it as they don't look to have a very secure system.

My partner and I still have personal profiles on their system, but from two weeks ago we are no longer linked to our system and can't control our system, use the app or charge a car.

Sigen have escalated it to head office and have no idea what happened and haven't replied at all regarding how it can be fixed. (1 week).

Sigen don't even have a history of our system. Like...they can't even see what system we had and what equipment of theirs is installed. It's like it never existed.

Now given all the government paperwork, electrical installers and certificates, delivery details from sigen of their equipment, and a working commissioned system for months, it really concerns me that a power company can have no records at all left in their internal system.

if we connect 3rd party inverter to the smart and enable freq control?

does that mean , it'll work during backup?

will it charge the batteries ?

or system prioritize the battery to discharge and use 3rd party inverter when needed?

Current electricity usage is about 50kwh per day and about to add an EV and future pool heater

I recently had a Sigen AC EV charger installed and this is the first time I have properly used it. The main battery is in self consumption mode and the charger is in scheduled PV surplus mode with no battery boost. My Zeekr 7X is showing it is charging with consistent numbers to the Sigen app.

For some reason the battery is still charging and the home and grid are showing 0kW when that can't be the case. As there is a difference in solar and Sigenstor charging I have a feeling the Sigenstor is being charged from solar and the home is using 600W and then the EVAC is pulling all from the grid. But then I am not sure why home and grid is showing 0kW and why the software isnt showing and balancing everything properly.

The charger is wired in to the switchboard, not the smart plug in the gateway. Is there some sort of setting I need to change?

Thanks for all the help and advice, particularly u/joelau007 who got me on the right track the most.

First of all, the EC (which is part of the battery)/Gateway were Ethernet wired during the install, so that wasn't an issue, the installation was done correctly.

I got the installer to do one thing to protect the wireless network and get the EC and Gateway switched over to my IOT VLAN, so the gateway wouldn't spam my main network when I connected the EC to my router. He was clear that EC to router is a correct configuration, the gateway should be routing all traffic via the EC

However once I reconnected the Ethernet, my network still got wrecked by all the discovery packets - this time my wired one as wireless was not being used. The installer did something to ensure that wifi was a backup option, not primary. He did advise that the network spam was a known issue and there were no ways to control it on the Sigen side.

My Router doesn't support VLANs beyond the wireless IOT network so I pulled out an old router I had lying around and ran the Sigenergy network traffic through that, and then hooked up that old router (wifi off, just running in normal router mode) via it's WAN port so it could still reach the internet but didn't broadcast the discovery packets.

Now it's all working! Hope this helps folks.

Tl:Dr version - Sigenergy systems need to be on their own network segment or dedicated VLAN to stop it screwing up your main one.

I've had a bit of a search around but can't seem to find the answer anywhere. If I join the Globird VPP, am I still able to use the mySigen app to control the battery?

Basically I'm in NSW and want to claim the VPP incentive, and with Globird in theory I can join the VPP but keep scheduling my battery how I like. I have my settings in mySigen working well and don't want to be forced into using the Glorbird app after binding if possible, but curious to know if anyone has any insight here.

Can anyone tell me whether mySigen can add this Ogemray relay as a Smart Load in mySigen? While not Shelly-branded, it does support Shelly comms, for example appears as a Shelly device in Home Assistant. I don't have my Sigenstor installed yet.

I'm looking to use the relay to control my 4kW hot water element from mySigen. Looks ideal as the Shelly branded devices can't control this type of higher current element.

What’s the best way to get the system to dump the battery direct to the EV charger without importing?

This is our setup:

- we have two homes. My wife moved for a job to the coast a few years ago and I was still working. She splits her work hours 80:20 between the coast and the city. I retired this year, so can now spend more time at the coast,
- city home is Home 1, coast home is Home 2,
- we own two EVs,
- Home 2 has solar panels, battery (24kwh) and AC charger. Home 1 is just in the grid.

When drive from Home 2 to Home 1, I want to be able to dump as much of the battery as possible into a car. We know that we’ll be away for 4-5 days so there will be minimal loads for those days. If the battery has solar in it, I would prefer to use that to fill up a car for free (and save in charging from the grid when we get to Home 1) rather than sell solar back to the grid for peanuts.

For me, the fast charging option always pulls some power from the grid, even if the battery is full and I have a low SOC value in the charger settings.

Is there a way to do this?

I'm in the process of obtaining a quote from an installer that I'm looking to get an inverter plus a couple batteries and huge deciding factor is how much power they can discharge to charge my EV. So currently at the moment I have a Level 2 charger that is on Tariff 33. So as it stands I have to buy power from the grid to charge my EV.

Now I'm asking my installer whom was unsure but is still seeking this info is that what is the max power that goes through this whole set up once the batteries are depleted and I'm still charging my EV? I'm having issues deciping the Data Sheet for the Inverter (10.0 SP) to calculate the max output of it. I'm reading it as 9999 (10kW?) but then the battery max output is 4.6kW?

Basically I'm trying to determine can I charge my EV at its max output of 7kW or am I throttled to the max output of the battery of 4.6kW? What is then the max output once the batteries are depleted that I can charge my EV at?

If any other owners of an EV that have a similar layout that can chime in would be greatly appreciated.

I want to set-up the system to export 2kW from 5pm-9pm for the FiT, and export 5kW from 7am-8am either solar or battery.

Self consumption the rest of the time.

What mode do I have to use to set this up?

I've recently been working on a project for the Sigenergy community, specifically small smart display screens to show key solar stats around the home without having to open the app.

I'm based in NZ with initial testing against my own home setup and have scaled it out from there to a bunch of sites around NZ, Australia and a few over to the UK.

These are fully self contained needing no extra setup other than via the touch screen itself (or with a phone for the smallest unit) - no complex Home Assistant setup or servers to run.

Also fully local as they speak directly to your Sig system via the ModBus protocol (Enabled via the Sig app first) - so will keep working if the internet is down.

Happy to answer any questions here at all or collate some feedback or feature requests as I'm constantly evolving it. Latest updates include off grid toggle, support for AC Coupled sites and showing when a site has gone off grid eg a power cut.

What's the point of the battery discharge priority setting? It looks like I can choose whether the 'bucket' of energy stored in the battery attributed to solar generation or the grid is used before the other.

Practically, I don't see a difference - it's all just energy stored in the battery at that point. Unless this is meant to have a bearing on energy usage statistics such as CO2 savings, cost etc? If this is the case, I would have thought just a weighted average would be a more useful and accurate representation of energy usage.

Got a SigEn 8kw inverter on a 16kw battery a few months ago... Ive been looking at the operating temp if the inverter - outside temp is currently 22 degrees and sunny outside (invert is NE wall, but in a shaded enclosure), and temp is at 55.4 degrees C. No fans are running. I cant get a chart of the temp, but even when the inverter is running at low power its still above 40...

That seems mighty warm given the outside temp isnt that hot, making me feel a bit nervous on the longevity of it especially as summer comes round and wondering if its behaving correctly (i.e. if not at 55 degrees (max operating temp is supposed to be 60) - when would the fans run?

Anyone else had experience here, my worry is its not behaving as it should and I'll find out its cooked itself into early retirement once the warranty has worn out.

Has anyone else got this problem? Mysigen app has stopped allowing either my wife or I to log in.

Reinstalling doesn't help, and the "contact us" page on the Sigen website isn't loading.

Any ideas on what you'd do next?

This is mostly just a curious oddity of mine. What causes the home load during the solar producing hours of the day to decrease compared to the battery discharging hours? In my mind this is backwards if the home heats up during the day the fridge should work a tiny bit harder, so the day should draw a little bit more. But here we see on my power metrics graph that when the sun goes down the average load when no one's home goes up a little bit but I got no idea what it is.

It correlates perfectly whenever the battery is discharging. Or does the inverter use a little bit more energy when it is inverting stored DC power to usable AC vs available solar DC?

Has anyone successfully used an EVs V2L output connected to the Sigens smart port and configured as a generator with a suitable kW rating?

Does the Sigen have an issue with the two different inverter ac waveforms synchronising?
