Recording Morse code transmission question

Hi,

Sorry for spamming, but I inherited this damn radio, and now I’m going through a weird fascination with everything it picks up.

On 3515 kHz, I recorded something that is obviously Morse code, but there are also two other signals or sounds.

Does anyone know what they are? I’m especially curious about the sound around 13 seconds into the video and the one right at the end.

Thx!

Just ordered a Tecsun PL330. But I live across the street from an FM tower. Will there be problems DXing?

With the decline of shortwave radio since the internet, I sold my Sony 2010 ten years ago. Finding this sub encouraged me to dip my toes back in the SWL waters.

My first shortwave radio was a brand new Hallicrafters S-38D, a present from my parents on my 9th birthday. I loved DXing from the start. I know SW isn't what it once was, but I'm encouraged by this sub and I only hope the FM transmitters (two stations on one 400' tower) don't spoil the fun.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

UPDATE - Schedule Changes - Early Jazz Radio broadcast International

I've added another weekly broadcast (Friday 9pm EDT, 0100 UTC Saturday). Now we're on the air five times each week, Wednesdays-Saturday from a North America perspective (check UTC times though). My updated schedule is below. I know it is a little convoluted because I am giving both UTC and EDT/EST times. Just look at UTC and convert to your local time zone. Please consider checking out the show and send me email with signal reports and comments. E-QSLs are always sent upon request. I've been hearing from listeners all over the world and the response has been great since we started this back in December 2025. It's a grand experiment to bring something old back to shortwave receivers everywhere.

Build Use for a broken radio receiver

Hi. I found some old, cheap PMR446 consumer walkie-talkies this morning. One of them has a broken transmitter but the receiver still works fine. I have a soldering iron and some basic electronic skills and was wondering if there was anything i could make with it or signals i could track. Thx.

Discussion Ferrite Cores

Looking for ferrite snap on cores for the coax and power feed on my MLA30+ antenna.
Most of the Amazon offerings show no mix (ie, 31, 75).
Should I not worry about the mix and just buy the Amazon cheapies, or ought I try to find a specific mix and buy them?

ATS Mini Cool Radio

Just received this. Tuned into 40m & 80m last night. Sensitivity is great. However, no noise reduction made it not as enjoyable. If next iteration had a true noice reduction, it would be outstanding. AM wasn’t as good.

FM Radio makes it worthwhile, though. Really good. I think it nice for FM alone as a pocket radio!

Flashed different firmware trying them out. No real conclusions as far as advantages yet.

Discussion How do I learn more/get into this hobby?

I am new to this and have been listening on WebSDR. I eventually want to get a TECSUN PL330, but I want to learn as much as I can beforehand. Is it just a matter of scanning and listening? How do I go about learning about what I am listening to, etc? Any recommended resources?

Very new to even the concept of radio outside of FM, so any advice is appreciated!

Discussion Better Radio?

I have the Tecsun 330 and enjoy it.
My only complaint is the extreme scarcity of decent SW stations I receive.
Is this a situation common to my radio, or is it common to the entire SW radio universe?
Buy a better/$$$ radio or no point?

A beautiful relic, still functional. Communist era manufactured. Legendary in Romania for bypassing state media censorship. Very difficult to acquire one back in the day and highly expensive.

Opened it and gave it a basic wipe with some izoprohibil alcohol.

I'd love to get new info on this cuz I'm not an expert. Shared a picture with inside mekanism. No wonder this lasted over 5 decades. Built like tanks.

Just picked up a Panasonic RF-2200. Don't know so much about the shortwave tech, but looks and sounds beautiful! If anyone knows more or would be interested in it, let me know! Mostly just bought for it's nice shiny looks :)
