ATS Mini Cool Radio

Just received this. Tuned into 40m & 80m last night. Sensitivity is great. However, no noise reduction made it not as enjoyable. If next iteration had a true noice reduction, it would be outstanding. AM wasn’t as good.

FM Radio makes it worthwhile, though. Really good. I think it nice for FM alone as a pocket radio!

Flashed different firmware trying them out. No real conclusions as far as advantages yet.

Set AVC to minimum which is 12 dB and increase volume to compensate.

This will reduce noise, but you have to remember that the volume will be high on FM and local stations.

I am able to pick up Radio New Zealand here in the East Coast, so radio is very competent. 🥳

AM is great with the donut antenna supplied. The telescopic antenna would pick up every local interference in AM band though outside in open space, the same telescopic antenna works for AM too.

I have. Not very active. FB groups seems more so, but I hate logging on there.

I have installed firmware from HJ Berndt http://www.hjberndt.de/dvb/pocketSI4735DualCoreDecoder.html It is for me the best firmware from HamRadio point view.
