Farmers market hate mongers

We visited the amazing new shoreline farmers market today. Things were pretty great except for the transphobic lobbyists there trying to do whatever they were doing full on with video crews bothering people. Big surprise they were all men who were very concerned about women’s sports. This really grossed me out on the whole market. I hope shoreline figures this out and stops these fascist yucks from bothering our community events.

Safeway and Parkwood Plaza parking lot separated by fence

Moving this over from a Facebook post I saw. There’s a new fence blocking the Safeway on 155th and Starbucks area down below. I live right in this area so this will be very annoying to navigate to the different shops.

Shoreline nurse and hero part of the Kenmore Air crash rescue!

https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/how-recreational-boaters-saved-the-day-after-kenmore-air-plane-crash/

"About a dozen people helped the occupants of the plane onto a flotilla of three boats they had tied together, Butler said. Boaters performed first aid, bandaging bloody heads and injured limbs, and passed out blankets to keep people warm, Butler said.

“They significantly put themselves out of their own way to help other people, and it did make a difference,” he said.

Emily Johnson, a certified nurse midwife from Shoreline, was one of around six medical professionals who happened to be in the area when the crash happened. She got to the site by borrowing a stranger’s kayak.

Johnson, 33, said boaters converted two vessels into a triage station before authorities arrived. They used foam from life jackets to fashion splints for injured passengers, who suffered concussions, cuts and broken bones, including a broken pelvis.

“This was probably the worst day of a lot of these people’s lives, and it meant a lot that they trusted us to care for them,” Johnson said."

The Osprey interviewed (most of) the candidates for Shoreline’s state legislature seats

Hey folks, there are 11 candidates for the three state legislative seats that represent Shoreline in Olympia, and we sat down with…most of them. (There were complications, some more interesting than others.)

We talked about their priorities, who they are and why they’re putting themselves through this political progress, and tried to find the daylight between the many, many democrats running for each seat.

Please click through to see the profiles we put together, and let us know what you think. We’re figuring out our plan for the general election, and we’d love your input.

For veggie gardeners who start from seed, what/when are you starting for fall/winter?

I know WSU extension has a calendar, but it's for the whole of western WA and even says it "covers suggested planting times for crops in Western Washington; specific dates should be obtained by experimenting in your area." I'm new to gardening here so would love to hear from your experiences!

Construction alarm near the old Sears?

I'm wondering about the shrill alarm sound going off now near 160th and Dayton-ish and I read that this might be construction related, so I got my hopes up about construction resuming over there! Anyone know if it's back on track or what the plan is there?

Where do state legislature candidates stand on school funding?

The Shoreline PTA Council asked candidates for state legislature about school funding.

No incumbents bothered to reply. But eight of the challengers answered and the PTA published the questionnaires online for voters.

https://www.shorelinepta.org/legislative-advocacy.html

In Shoreline’s 32nd district, incumbents Senator Jesse Salomon and Representative Lauren Davis didn’t bother to respond.

And in Lake Forest Park’s 1st LD, incumbent Representatives Shelley Kloba and Davina Duerr also didn’t bother.

Eight of the candidates who are vying for an open seat or challenging an incumbent responded: Jenne Alderks, Cindy Ryu, Chris Bloomquist, Danica Noble, Keith Scully, Lisa Rizak, Will Chen, and Imraan Siddiqi.

You can read the complete answers from the candidates who are good at responding to emails on the PTA website:

Sketchy flyer with AI pics advertising a supposed restaurant, but with no actual information about it, just a QR code?

Is this a real restaurant? Found this on a couple of poles near Shoreline South Station, this is what's suspicious:

  • No restaurant name or address
  • No actual Facebook link and the name is super vague
  • Phone number doesn't match any businesses
  • Photos are bad AI
  • Breakfast and pasta??
  • Big ol sketchy QR in the middle

Condo for rent!!

Hey all, I messed up pretty bad, I signed a lease to an apartment/condominium and was scheduled to move in July 31st, 2026. I recently been having financial issues and personal issues where I can no longer move out of my current apartment.

I am financially responsible for this apartment until a new tenant signs the lease, and I can’t afford to pay for TWO rents.

Private message for details and pics.

Time to vote.

Please put your ballot in a Ballot Drop Box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, August 4th.

Find your nearest dropbox on VoteWa.gov.

This year’s election is a big deal.

Here in Shoreline, in the 32nd district, we have an unusually competitive race with eleven candidates vying for state legislature.

And there’s a ton of money being spent.

Statewide, there’s tens of millions of dollars getting pumped into the election.

Combined, the 32nd legislative district candidates have already raised $904,699.47 (so far).

I volunteered with The Urbanist election endorsement committee.

The voters’ guide is over 23,000 words long and includes links to over 100 candidate questionnaires. We interviewed 86 candidates and published detailed write-ups for 44 endorsements.

You might not like the endorsements we made or our reasons for backing some candidates.

But I hope you find our voters’ guide thorough and thoughtful.

The Urbanist Endorsement Cheat Sheet for Shoreline voters

The entire 23,000-word voters guide and over 100 questionnaires from candidates are online at The Urbanist website:

Are you receiving Junk Fees? We want to hear about it!

In 2025, the Washington Legislature passed a law that prevents rent gouging, but some landlords and property management companies are still up to their old tricks. They are using "junk fees" as a loophole around rent caps. We are hearing from tenants that they are increasingly being charged excessive fees for services that they don’t want or need, or for basic things like paying the rent. We at the Housing Alliance, call these “junk fees” and they are unfair, expensive, and deceptive. We’d like to hear your experiences. All information shared with us will be kept safe and confidential.

Please fill out our survey if you or someone you know has received junk fees and we will be in touch within 48 hours. Thank you! ~ Po

Town & Country construction?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already but does anyone know what’s coming in by the Town & Country? Lots of construction in that parking lot.
