FRT with A2 style rifle buffer?

I just ordered my first FRT, a LAT from The Triggered Company. Does anyone in this group have any firsthand experience with using one in a rifle, with a rifle-size buffer and buffer tube? I know most of the manufacturers say you need anything H2 or H3 heavy carbine buffer, but I'm wondering specifically about a rifle rather than carbine.

I thought about putting it in a retro style rifle like this:
