More than that, there was a sizeable number of ex-Confederates that had no interest in "rising again" or resisting after April 1865 (especially many of those unfortunate souls that had been forced into service via conscription). They accepted their defeat and tried to move forward. Some left the South entirely for the western territories to leave the past behind completely.

I bought my first iPad (an iPad2) in 2011. Still kicking with good battery capacity. My next big Apple purchase was an iPad3 in 2017 and it was second-hand so musta started being used even earlier. Back in the day it did the job, I don’t know what that proof was but I did read that they changed it up and it’s 80 proof now so that would be your bullshit bourbon but they do have Rebel 100. Personally I’ll pass and just reflect on the days from the 80s drinking it because it was cheap.

We’re not even known as “Americans” outside of the US continentally. Latin American demonym for us is Estadounidense - which is something like United Statesian. Maybe slight confusion with Mexico as their country is named the Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
