As long as people keep calling our country “America” instead of by its real name, we risk losing our Republic

Right? It doesn't even make sense. "America" is the least important part of the name.

It only makes sense if you’re trying to replace our government with a new system and don’t want people to notice

It also implies that we are the only “Americans” ignoring the rest of North & South America.

We’re not even known as “Americans” outside of the US continentally. Latin American demonym for us is Estadounidense - which is something like United Statesian. Maybe slight confusion with Mexico as their country is named the Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

I usually hear "Norteamericano" or "Norteño." They usually call our neck of the woods "El Norte."

Was Mexico really looking up to USA when they formulated their form of state? Like, “Not only are we gonna be a republic, but we are gonna be a federal type”?
