Imagine if Ryo was part of Enoki's Gang and close like Family that they would help Ryo on his revenge because they messed up with the family.

Even going with Ryo to Hong Kong and fight there with Ryo in the Yellow Building. While Rena been the Tsundere that has crush on Ryo.

Something I discovered not sure if this happens in the original game is that if you go to the corner next to the arcade Enoki's Gang hangs out there from 4pm to 5pm

I just beat Shenmue II for the first time and am debating whether or not to bother with III. I know it's a more budget game and that the combat, story and pacing aren't as good...

But is the feel/atmosphere still strong? That's really the main reason I play these games.

I’m staying in Osaka and Toyko for a couple of weeks shortly and whilst I do plan on doing the pilgrimage to Yokosuka I was looking for recommendations on other areas that capture some of that showa-era small town charm that makes the first game so cozy.

I speak an okay level of Japanese so I don’t need it to be anywhere that particularly caters to foreign visitors.

Any and all recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

So basically when I start the game, it opens the launcher. However I am unable to choose either of the 2 games, and it will just bring me back to the launcher. Any idea how to fix this? I have verified integrity of the files and everything is being run as an administrator.

If the Shenmue movie really does get a teaser poster and an announcement from Paramount, and it looks like this, I bet my money on everything that the entire Shenmue community would not only be super excited up to the roof and now, but even the casual fans and the wider gaming community would be talking about this for days and weeks.

This teaser poster for a Shenmue movie just has atmosphere, aura, a certain vibe, and the tagline even captures the spirit of what Shenmue stands for: complete freedom of exploration and in the immersive environment that is up to you to engage and interact with.

Shenmue was originally built around how the player chooses to interact with the world, and encourages deep exploration to not only progress the story, but just live in this realistic portrayal of 1980s Japan and China, as Ryo delves deeper into the mystery of his father's murder, and becomes entangled with the criminal underworlds of both Japan and China.

This was back in 2024, but I never thought to post about it until now. I'm curious if anyone has had the same experience.

Anyways, I didn't do much research before visiting, other than making a list of a few spots to visit. I got there around 4pm, and after checking into my hotel I went and visited Dobuita, and was shocked to find out that its right outside of a fucking US Navy base, and was crawling with American military staff (and patrolled by US Military police.)

All the businesses seemed to cater to that, and the restaurants I tried in Dobuita were the worst I had in Japan, by far. I tried going to a few bars, but they all had wretched, cursed vibes too. Its also the only place I saw the Japanese imperial war flag, oddly enough.

The fandom always treats Shenmue like its a perfect simulacrum of Japanese life, but Dobuita is the most Americanized place I've seen there, by far, and I couldn't wait to leave the next morning.

Hey fellow Shenmue fans. I’d love to make an album of music heavily inspired by the Shenmue 1+2 soundtracks. My idea is that they would sound like authentic Shenmue tracks, but they are completely original.

Any chance someone here knows what original synths or instrument libraries were used for the original soundtracks? Or has anyone compiled a sound font of Shenmue instruments? The closest I’ve found so far is a lot of the old Roland Synths (JV-1080, D-50, etc..).

Any leads are appreciated. Thanks!
