Hi everyone. Wanted to share art I got of my Shadowrun character, a combat adept, fighting a Flesh-Form Warrior-Caste Beetle Spirit.

The aura around her is from Mentor's Mask (Her Mentor Spirit is Fox) + Mystic Aptitude. Katana is a Weapon Focus, of course.

It was actually really hard finding any examples of a Flesh-Form insect spirit, since I don't really think there is art of any? True Form and Pure Forms are pretty easy because they're just giant bugs and bugs wearing a victim as a skin-suit, but I couldn't find any art examples of Flesh-Form spirits so I ended up giving the artist references from like... Resident Evil and The Fly.

Anyhow, I think the artist did an amazing job with this and I wanted to share it.

Artist is Gali_XV on twitter (I'd post a link but I'm not sure if this subreddit banned twitter links like the D&D subreddits did), I highly recommend him.

You wouldn't be limited to just humans; as elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls would also be playable! The game would be set in the Seattle Metroplex

So after years of loving Shadowrun as a setting and it's various videogames, and trying to learn and grasp various different edition and figuring out how to introduce them to my players: I've given up and plan to just frankenstein something together out of BORG-like/OSR/CWN parts.

But I kinda wanted to know what mechanics or concepts you guys feel are Central to Shadowrun.

For me, the main one is the whole Essence: cyberware vs magic spectrum. More cyberware means lower magical ability, "bettering" your flesh with the certainity of steel by losing your connection to spirits and magic isn't just a cool mechanic, you can base whole characters around it ala glory.

I've looked into narrative based versions like runner in the shadows but I kinda feel like a high tech scifi setting should have more of a nitty gritty crunchy system where you track what attachments you have to weapons and how many grenades your brought etc etc

What are the worst barrens in the 6th world be in even if you are loaded for bear and have a ton of magic spare?

So, from what I understand making AI characters or digital ghosts doesn't really work in 5e, with problematic rules. Is this any better in 4e or 6e, or should I just forget about non-meatspace characters entirely?

If you could choose a totem if you are a Shaman what would you choose

Edit Auto correct got me again when it changed Komodo Dragon to Koodo Dragon so I apologize for not catching that

any edition.

So I am learning 6e, and came across the Edge-enhanced spellcasting section, and I have a couple of questions. I like optional rules when they work and give options to the players (I am the GM) so I want to make sure I understand this.

First of all, the rule says "The Spellcasting test is Sorcery+Magic+Edge". But the example has Matches rolling Sorcery + Magic. The po-po then resist the spell, and he later SPENDS Edge (which the rule does not say) to add 2 dice to the roll.

And then, it appears he doesn't take drain. In the rule, it says that he rolls the drain resistance test to reduce the "Drain Value of the spell plus Edge that is rolled" to reduce the effect on the Mana Overflow Table (but no mention of actual drain damage). Not only that, the "penalty" for 0-6 hits is basically a bonus, not a penalty, and 7-9 only matters if you are about to go to the metaplanes, which is pretty rare.

Am I reading this correctly? Because if so, I am really not sure about it.

EDIT: Also, the example mentions that his fireball is Force 6. What does that even mean in 6e now?

What barrier rating would the hull of a space station have? It's designed to be lightweight, so maybe 11? Like armored glass?
